I agreed for the most part but for the eyes contact, it might not always mean lie. In Africa, as a sign of respect you don’t have to look an older person in the eyes. Since it is different from European, American and other culture, it might be good as a good to be more contextual.
Another consideration when looking at posture & how people may hold themselves is physical ailments. Some people will hold their arms crossed becuase of back or shoulder pain. So it is good to check in & not just assume someone is shielding. Great video! Thank you!
I’ve found it helpful to (carefully) question clients about their body language. If you have good rapport it should be ok and might lead to important insights ^^
Great question! You deal with it the same way you deal with anything else: you coach! Bring it up in the conversation, like "I notice...", "I feel...", "What's going on through your mind when...". And coach them to understand what is happening for them and why, and how to move forward from there. Thanks for asking :)
