I still can't find a replacement for my stinger, that thing has been with me for many years and I have beat the shit out of it and it still works fine.
I had to go to headlamps, it's harder to leave them under a vehicle and having a flashlight in your mouth for over 10 seconds is shitty. There is times where it is necessity though.
Iron Range Auto Tech yep, I use the new snap-on neck light but I wear it around my head like a pair of glasses and it works excellent. Best $65 ever spent
Thanks for sharing! I have been using the same Strion you showed and the switch failed twice. So i'm using the third switch. Otherwise i really like it. But now i'm very interested in this Olight.
I bought a couple olights about a year ago after watching some very promising reviews. Unfortunately I found them to just not hold up to mechanics use. One broke on the first drop to the floor and the magnet for the charger collects little metal particles and rust. Good light for home but not for work for me. Please do an update in the future of how this one holds up! Thank you for the great content!
Replace my beloved stream light nooooo, but I did supplement it with the Astro Pneumatic (AST65SL). Seen it in action with Eric O were he used it as an area light. I found it to work great while I'm under a dash. For my carry light, my Stream Light has never failed me. And over the years I've been let down by many other portable lights.
Get back to us when that thing has half the finish worn off and it's been dropped a few hundred times. Then we'll decide if it's better than streamlight or not.
I agree 100% on headlights, they never get the light in the right spot no matter what you are doing. They fall off when doing dash work, they are just a bigger pain in the ass than they're worth. I like a bright long lasting flashlight that has good "mouth feel"...because that's the only place that gets the light right where I need it...99.9% of the time. Good Flashlight, but wish it was just on or off.
Not sure I want to give up my Stinger LED HL. It works great and I have the dock hard mounted in my service truck. Not sure how the magnet setup is going to work in a bouncing truck.
I have 2 of those little streamlights They are perfect size. I use to love them but they can't take the beating I give them. They don't like the shock of being dropped or knocked off my tool box or cart. Sure they have a "lifetime" warranty on them but it takes too long to have it replaced. The tool truck guy I bought them from has "retired" and he use to handle it for me.
If any of you guys wear ball caps get yourself a USB rechargeable cap visor light by Blackube on Amazon $20 for a pair it's a real game changer and no need to give your flash light a happy ending 😭🤣
Ha!!!! My front teeth are round from the streamlight....that's why I switched to a headlamp...10 years of sucking a flashlight really hurts...I get lockjaw and said before (round front teeth) still have the streamlight but i use it for oil changes or inspection work...big jobs I use a headlamp (edit: "coast" headlamp off the snap on truck )
The button.. on the bottom. The tail cap switch? Lol I love Olight, I work at a train terminal at night and the Olight Warrior Pro is the best of them all and cheaper than the Seeker 2. It's got perfect light spill for where you're standing and a perfect hotspot that goes over 600 meters. It goes forever.
Never had a Streamlight always have had Fenix or Olight and have been very pleased with performance and price as well as durability.. The Streamlights seem overpriced for their output.
As far as the light in mouth deal....i use a braun light from harbor freight with the magnetic base i have never ever put u flash light in my mouth lol. When i was a noob the lead tech of the shop i worked at laughed at me as i went through various types of work lights and told me i should buy a streamlight and that i wouldnt regret it he had like 4.I finally bite the bullet and he wasnt lying.Ive had the same one for 8 yrs only thing ive had to replace was the battery....
There are a lot of inexpensive "bright" flashlights out there. But are they as strong and resilient as the Streamlight? The Streamlight is very strong, so I'd be curious to see how it holds up in the long run.
I am a Streamlight and an Olight dealer, the Olight repair rate is much lower than the SL. The warranty process is also much simpler for Olight, they replace the light on the spot. SL repairs usually take a few weeks and they often send the light back still having problems.
@@jfantis why would you send a streamlight out for repair? I fix most of them with a repair kit in less then 5 minutes. Then the customer is happy and you only send off the kit.
@@toolmanlance I do on site repair for the strion and stinger. That does not work for the others such as the stylus line. I see a higher failure rate on the SL, note I said rate not quantity. Also the repair option you mentioned is much more time consuming than simply handing them a new light.
@@jfantis high failure rate for which sl specifically? I've owned my stinger and station for 6 years now and had only had to buy a rebuild kit for the strion once and nothing on the stinger yet.
I just got into flashlights. Used to be a headlight guy or the magnet light guy, but I always leave the damn thing on and forget about it, or end up blinding someone when I'm talking to them. For quick little jobs or temporary 'WTF, I can see shit' moments, or just doing your multipoint inspect, the small streamlights are awesome. And theres no forgetting a flashlight between your lips😂 Still using headlights, Underhood and work lights when I'm doing bigger jobs
TBH I dont like either one of their chargers. I own a streamlight and its great, but I wish the flashlight itself had a USB-C port on it for charging. That was it could be charged anywhere without having to take that annoying charger home.
Been using electrical tape for a while now. I was kind of happen when I lost my pen light. It gave my teeth a break. Now I found it and am back to putting it in my mouth
Man... there aint no replacement for a streamlight..... how many times have you dropped that dude..... ive dropped mine at least 500 times and it just dont fn quit!
There are alot of lights better than stream light.,lumens aren't what you want to pay attention too. Candela is how good it's going to be. If you don't have anything to focus those lumens those numbers are meaningless . That's why I've always used surefire. A 65 lumen surefire is brighter and has a longer throw than most 500 lumen lights.
