Thanks for this video. I was undecided about the Giffin Grip and had never seen the Hartley forms!!!

Thank you for this. I have these but wasn't getting the best results. And the foot ring is genius 😊

They’re made of high quality MDF and are great fun to use. I leave mine for about a day,but it depends on your studio temperature of course. The guy in the clip says this at the end.

Neat. If you don't want your slip to shrink, check John Britts's video about trailing slip. He uses Darvan, but you can also use sodium carbobate (washing soda). Tell me if you want the recipe with sodium carbobate. It is really cool. The raised surface stays almost the same.

Thanks. I've only used sodium silicate as a deflocculant, never sodium carbonate, but you're absolutely right about it reducing the shrinkage by reducing the required water. I don't usually bother using it as it adds complexity and the shrinkage isn't an issue for most of my work, but it's a good solution when that isn't the case

How long do you need to leave the clay on the form before you remove it???
@OldForgeCreations
@OldForgeCreations 4 года назад
Depends on a bunch of factors, like how dry the clay is at the start, the heat and humidity in the room, etc. A few hours to overnight should be a good starting point
