A Better Man (Words of Radiance Animated) 

Not sure he wasn't the better man. Even Dalinar didn't believe Sadius would come around. He, Dalinar, was planning on an eventual betrayal. Sadius said he'd do it. He'd been planning it. He'd probably even killed, certainly sponsored killings, to advance his new plans for betrayal and conquest. Waiting for the knife to stab you personally (again, for the umpteenth time) doesn't seem all that virtuous. The fallout from a direct confrontation between Dalinar and Sadius would have been disastrous. I get why Dalinar didn't take that course. However, if Yasna had been around...Sadius wouldn't have survived to make it to Adolin.

It really would be strange if the murder was replicated by a magical being possessing the tower

Adolin was wrong here. Killing Sadeas was what a better man would do. Dalinar didn’t have the guts to do it.

Honestly, you could argue Adolin was just serving up some vigilante justice. Sadeas caused the deaths of over FIVE THOUSAND Kholin troops at the end of Way of Kings. He's at worst a mass murderer and at best a war criminal; either way, giving him the death penalty is well deserved - especially given the relatively minor things that characters like Dalinar and Kaladin bring up that can get your average soldier hung.

You really have to go with the text and what Brandon says is moral/immoral. At least in terms of what to get out of the story. It’s pretty obvious that Brandon intended for the murder to be immoral. Dalinar says it is by looking for the killer (and presumably would’ve punished him if it wasn’t Adolin), the way Adolin defends his father, the way Adolin himself feels guilt, even Shalan equates it to her murdering her father, something she calls herself a monster for. In the confines of the story the characters, and by extension Brandon, definitely feel like it was an immoral act. Adolin comes to terms with it, but that doesn’t change the morality of the act, just that he’s moved on and doesn’t feel guilty anymore.

@@maninblack3410 Sanderson and Dalinar are capable of being wrong. Shalan is practically professionally wrong.

@@maninblack3410 Feeling guilt or shame about an action doesn't indicate that the action was immoral. Shallan calls herself a monster for killing her father--but we the readers know she isn't a monster. But even if Sanderson came right out and said "Adolin was wrong for what he did; that was my intent", that's his own opinion, not an actual metric of objective morality. Saddeas was a mass murdering slaver who was explicitly declaring his intent to kill again. Over and over until he gets his target. There is no doubt about the actions he's already taken, or the actions he intends to take.

it wont be, unfortunately. Brandon has said that he doesn't want to do any kind animation since its too niche.

@@wasa1487 Thing is, passion projects, even on small budgets always end up looking great. It's the cash grabs where the cgi looks awful. And luckily for us, Brandon will never settle for a cash grab deal.

With the heights that animated films and series have reached at this point, the Stormlight books have the potential to be adapted with a level of quality on par with Legend of Vox Machina, Castlevania, or even Arcane with the right team behind it. And, you know, money... Do we know anyone related to Stormlight Archive with money...? Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

@@Strix182 If I were to guess, I would imagine Brandon is waiting to bring the Stormlight Archive to any form film adaption until he's finished with the series, just so that the film series doesn't end up having to wait for the next books to come out

It's from the audiobook! Michael Kramer does a fantastic job as a whole, but his Torol Sadeas is a masterclass in a rich, dangerous, scumbag voice.

Especially when Adolin twisted that knife around in his eye, I was like......oooooooh adolin you got a bad boi side too eh 😏

Words of Radiance Is the second book in The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson. It is part of a greater series of connected stories (the Cosmere) and all of them are a must read if you enjoy High Fantasy.

The sword can be summoned at will by the person who's bonded to it, and when they die, it appears at their side. It's being thrown out so people will suspect it's stolen.

This is the second book in Brandon Sanderson's series The Stormlight Archive. It's great and you should absolutely read it (or listen to it if you prefer audiobooks) if you enjoy fantasy.
