A better way to do a Maltese accent than Howcast's!

Following the furore created by Howcast's "How to do a Maltese Accent" video which wasn't quite so accurate, we decided to do our own version of this video! :)
Once again, thanks to the people at 'Kelma Kelma' who gave us some tips on the origins of some accents. Like their page at kelmakelma.mt

This is so damn funny!!! I am full Maltese, 1st generation in America. So needless to say I grew up in a very Maltese household. The accents are spot on!!! you sound like my dad, and all his friends. I lived in Malta for 5 years and I’m really grateful for every experience that I had there. But I honestly was laughing so hard at “MOVE BACK PLEASE” because I heard it soooo many times by now. Great video guys.

I'm from sicily but this is exact same accent when sicilians speak English. I love when my dad speaks English. He pronounces insurance "inshuriance" like you 🤣🤣🤣

Im part Maltese and am trying to learn the language as I was brought up in wales (quite far away from malta) Its great hearing the natural accent :D not a fake one!

I've lived on Gozo for a year and have many maltese friends. These accents just crack me up! The accent is so cute! I actually sent this video to an egyptian friend of mine as when she speaks English there are some similarities (For example as how she says potatoes = full on Maltese/Gozitan!).

I remember my Dad saying shickup solders for shock absorbers, miryar for mirror, petlor for petrol, & under the neath. And don't forget to put an 'innit' at the end of a sentence. I miss the pastizzis.

2010Joe54 LOL!! how funny. My grandmother says 'stomak' instead of stomach. BTW there is no such word as pastizzis.....pastiz is singular and plural is pastizzi :)

Love Malta and the people...one thing which always sticks in my mind is 'Alright, OK' and 'Ta' after some words and sentences.

Because it's very convenient. And 'Ta' is a short version of "taf int?" which is "you know?" but is also used as "ok you understand/get it?"

Thanks! And yes, I know that cheesecakes are different really, but I thought that leaving it at pastizzi wouldn't have really explained it...if we had more time I would have included a photo of pastizzi underneath or something similar, but as we say in Maltese, 'il-ftira sħuna tajba' and we wanted to publish the video asap! But thanks for the heads-up nonetheless :)

It would be much more useful to compare the various Maltese accents in English, OR just different Maltese accents in Maltese. Comparing one in English and others in Maltese is apples and oranges. By the way, the presenter is a great example himself of how one variety of Maltese English sounds! I guess he'd be the equivalent of the guy who speaks Maltese in an "orderly manner"

Good job :) You showed HowCast "how" it's done. On a side note, Pastizzi are still Pastizzi in any other language. Cheesecakes are a different recipe.

We might have been messing around if that's how you'd like to put it (after all everyone can have his own opinion), but in our defense, the Howcast speaker wasn't doing anything much better than messing around with 'our accent' so it kinda compensates :)

Maltese is a direct descendent of the Phoenician language. Example: Phoenician: al yikunlak zare behayim tahet sems Maltese: La jkollok zaghar bej il-hajjin taht ix-xemx

We dont even use half of the words you mentioned. But i agree, it derived from Phoenician more than Arabic, Arabic probably derives from Pheonician itself, even tho now maltese is mostly Latin
