This man in a division 1 basketball coach with years, maybe decades of experience and all of the commenters who've never made any league or coached anyone saying how he's doing it wrong. Only the internet.
Because even middle school coaches would scoff at this advice. You want to cut a player’s route off, you take wide lateral lunges and drag your lagging foot along to your new position.
@@paulallenscards i think he is referring to the first sequence where they were turning and running, that is where you get crossed up cause your feet aren’t planted and a player with quick burst gonna dribble past you immediately on the zig.
On god idk why he said watch the ball that’s how you get crossed🤣 watch the belly button is a new one tho I was always thought watch the waist but same difference.🙅🏿♂️ clamps
That is the women's coach at Texas. They went 26-10 last season and he coached the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He is a two time NCAA D1 coach of the year. He has coached on an NCAA champion, three championship games, 4 final fours, 8 elite eights and 11 Sweet 16s. He has almost 400 wins at D1 (377) with a .655 winning percentage. I think he knows what he is doing a little better than you do.
@@hshaughnessy17 women's basketball is all you had to say. BTW, I played under Coach Gene Bess, the winningest coach in college history 1300 wins 416 loses. He teaches Push Step and keep your eye on the belly, not the ball. I'll stick to believing the guy that actually put a player in the NBA. Thanks though.
@@ICantBelieveItsNotJesus Coach Bess is a great coach. But it just shows that there is more than one way to coach the same things. Just because Coach Bess does it one way, doesn't mean another way is wrong.
The idea is correct but the way he is doing it will get you crossed the F up. The girls did it right. That’s also how I have always seen this drill done.
Y’all just don’t know, this defense is the proper way to be taught lol. It has won chips on so many levels just being able to slide and apply pressure like that full court. 2-3 press, 1 3 1 press, box n 1 press, man to man press, zone press 😂🤣🔥🔥 niggas done it all fam.

@@MacLaw3084 also if you're unaware of who that coach is in the video I linked, he's put more player in the NBA than anyone. His whole program is known as a one and done system. He's the coach you go to if you want to get into the NBA asap.
@@MacLaw3084 here's Baylor's head coach thoughts on it. If you notice at half court when they change sides, the guy in the bottom cross steps and if the drill wasn't a two dribble stop one, he'd be beat. It's a great live example. I don't know who this cat is or wtf he is talking about with keeping your nose on the ball but I imagine that's why he teaches cross stepping on defense. If you put your nose on the ball, you're already beat so I guess you're gonna have to try to chase them down. I wish every time I pump faked some dude just jumped out cause he was guarding the ball and not me. Easy money ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iPJGTt4ph9s.html
Lol, isn't this Vic Schafer, Texas women's head coach? He's been teaching basketball and making a living at it for years. How do you get what you said from that?
