I'm sure the sun came back out as soon as the interviewer left them alone.

Seeing all the way lived and clothes etc... took me straight back to my childhood. Just like it was for us growing up in the 70's and 80's. The story about the horse cracked me up, my Dad's family had a horse called trixy that used to eat the bread off the table if the back door was left open. Gee I wish we could wind the clock back, happy memories.

As an ex British Lighthouse Keeper, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Having very recently read Keeper John Cooks book, "The Last Lighthouse Keeper", this upload was pure gold. Thank you for uploading this, take care and stay safe.

No problem! I was in the video. One of the children in the school lesson. My family worked with John Cook on Maatsuyker Island. Great childhood memories

As a crayfisherman I remember a few of the keepers from the 1960s and 70s , Graham sward at swan island john Moyle at swan island and John Cook at matsuiker ,there were times when we would be used to take mail and sometimes some fresh food to mat on our way to the west coast ,one trip I remember well we took a group of lighthouse bosses to mat and it was that bloody rough the head man , I think his name was Peter mc, conville was sick as a dog all the way there and back to Dover he do even go ashore he was that sick ,and being young I didn't miss the opportunity to take the piss out of him ,like putting a plate of sausages bacon and eggs under his nose ,he sure fed the fish after that ,boy those were the days

@@peterbrown915 hi Peter, I haven't spoken to any of the family since John's passing, but he did express to me about eight years ago his desire to be placed at mat at the end but I can't be sure whether or not that was his final wish ,I will find out later , cheers

@@peterbrown915 hi Peter, yea John was one of those blokes you wish could be your father , I don't know if he got his final wish but he certainly deserved to, I don't know if you're in Tassie or if you've heard of it but there's a great book available called , A SAFE PASSAGE , and although expensive is well worth the money , a wonderful read, cheers Mick

Thouroughly enjoyable... From days when real documentaries were produced and better television content was aired..... Most fortunate were the families that enjoyed their profession and existence.
