I would be mostly concerned about scratching the sensor coating while cleaning it. Even micro scratches might degrade the images after numerous cleanings, so I would rarely clean it unless I can see the dirt on it. I will be purchasing a cleaning kit soon. Anyway thanks for the tutorial.
@Mark10ProVideo
@Mark10ProVideo 5 лет назад
You're right! It rarely is dirty enough so one would actually HAVE TO use a cleaning kit like this. The swaps are usually not capable of sctratching the surface though, although I am sure there's someone out there that gets it done somehow:) No problemo, thanks for the nice comment!

that's pretty cool. I've seen on my Lumix G7 that it has a Cleaning sensor Function but never tried it as I don't get a lot of dust on it and it doesn't seem to affect the outcome of my video's or photo's at least none that I can see, but this is a pretty neat way also to do.
@Mark10ProVideo
@Mark10ProVideo 5 лет назад
That's to remove bits of dust by shaking the sensor. Sometimes that can work, but most of the times it doesn't help in my experience. When you really need to clean the sensor, this is the way to go. Greetings:)
@Black3ternity
@Black3ternity 4 года назад
What tubenoob said. Additionally, in most of the cases, the Gyro-stabiluzed sensor gets "locked" so it doesn't wiggle around like in the video. But that's all it wrote. I usually hit the clean sensor setting in the camera, turn it off, use the duster and follow it up with a clean swab.
@scb2scb2
@scb2scb2 5 лет назад
I do agree with most of your video, and in fact also made a video kinda like this last year and post it when asked on media channels. But i do have some issues with your method.. 1) 99% of the cleaning can be done by not even going to a wet-clean as you show but the use of a cleaning-mode, blower and static brush. So that means that a wet-clean is probably needed once a year for me or if i made a mistake (like putting my finger on the sensor :) ). 2) a real mistake you make is NOT putting the sony camera in cleaning mode. I asked several sony people and that is what you should do turn cleaning mode on (mostly doesn't help) but at the end it tells you todo 'maintainance' if needed. The reason is simple now the IBIS is locked (sensor is off) and you can clean it without IBIS moving and possible damage on that. Lastly there is on these sony a protective layer that is not even that 'small' on the a7iii/a7riii its 1.5mm thick so ehmm you are not even close to the sensor. 3) Do be careful with the cleaning solution some are known to be 'less good' for the toplayer than others. The brand i was using switched after a few years and made a special one for sony since they where not 100% sure if the top layer could be damage (probably after 900 cleanings).
@Mark10ProVideo
@Mark10ProVideo 5 лет назад
1) It's not a cleaning tutorial. Its purpose is to show people that they don't have to freak when the sensor is dirty. That's all. And of course for my particular problem wet clean was the only way. 2) Never did it never will:) Cleaned way too many cameras like this. If THAT could damage the IBIS, then carrying the camera in a backpack when it is turned off could damage the IBIS, since it's not locked then either. 3) That's interesting. Do oyu have a source link? Greetings!
@scb2scb2
@scb2scb2 5 лет назад
@@Mark10ProVideo I totally got that part and i agree, but many real cleaning guides on sony's don't show that you need to lock down the ibis this is what sony does and is in the manual. It takes 5seconds max and it also makes cleaning easier since then damn thing doesn't move anymore. The amount of movement by a floating sensor in a bag and what you can do by hand are probably not the same (given its mass). On the part 3 i have to be a little vague since the brand of pads i use are the same as you but used then same stuff my shop (one of biggest in our country) used. Then a warning was send out of possible damage and they made a replacement product... now it gets a little confusing since when i researched a little more this is the last 'news' : photosol.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/sony-update.pdf on the topic. Personally i feel its smart to use brands my dealer does since my cameras and lenses insurance and repears are with them.
@Mark10ProVideo
@Mark10ProVideo 5 лет назад
Well, yes, if you wanted to be rough, you could of course damage it by hand, but....you should of course be careful. Ok, thanks for the link. Seems they take that very seriously. Considering how many cleaning nkits they ship, checkin after only two reports...that I applaud:) Makes the most sense to do what they do, sicne they do it a lot:)

@@Mark10ProVideo The real danger is blowing (with head-build in mouth blower)... (spit) on the sensor that people at times have the urge todo. @Mark10ProVideo
@Mark10ProVideo 5 лет назад
Depends on whether you want more versatility...a cheap dslr with an interchangeable lens mlount will allow you to use different lenses and get different visual aesthetics. What would you like to do? If you tend towards filmmaking the dslr will definitely get you more options!
