Congratz on the sponsor ! Don´t worry about gushing over your coins, I am sure we all understand. Also, please bring back the part where you add the new dates to your collection, it is my favourite part of your videos.
Not much to look up or ask. You answered your own question when you read the inscription on that 5p! Gibraltar coins often pop up in UK change as they’re the same size and shape. Except I think they may still use the round pound.
The 2014 Gibraltar 5p Five Pence Coin - has the Candytuft Flower on it, The 1819 bull head is a nice coin to have in your collection, However the 1739 George 2nd shilling is my favourite coin of the day and worth a lot more than you paid for it....
I recently picked up three crowns of George III, but none of them are in as good condition as yours, though all three are 1819. One was £27 and the other two were slightly better, so £30. They have a very satisfying weight for sure!
I remember getting a half crown as pocket money in the 60's as I was collecting football cards then. Now I'm back to collecting half crowns! 😂 I only have a couple of Victorian shillings, but all of Edward VII and George V ones, and just need a couple of the half silver ones from George VI to complete that era of reign. I like that George II shilling, and George III Crown. Do you put any of your coins into some form of display album, or just keep them in the box?
Very nice coins, the George iii crown is always nice one to own. Very interesting to see France depicted in George II coin I never knew it. Thanks for the knowledge and great coins you got there
It was to do with the claim to the throne of France, starting with Edward III. All kings and Queens from the 14th century used the title, though only Henry V really came close to realising it. The title was dropped in George III's reign, but it is why the Fleur de lys was consistently on the arms of England for centuries.
Watching your videos from Gibraltar, and did a double take when I saw the 5p on the screen! Unfortunately not silver, although Gib has some great new designs for KCIII, especially the penny with his royal cypher!
Again you do better and better. The Crown and 1739 shilling are gems (Yes I have them both and mine are around the same as yours conditionwise, but I had to pay a bit more). If it helps regards 1912 shilling, I forked out $17.50 (£8 - 8.50 each) each for 3 Victorian shillings all barely fair, mainly as they were spacefillers (I now have every shilling from 1870 to 1892) and a very average 1889 6d. So not every coin I buy is a huge bargain. But you sure do bat above your weight in coin buying savviness, some of your purchases are real steals!
And did you know, Roses meant the silver came from West of England, plumes were Welsh silver (Prince of wales feathers) and some coins have both. Coins without them are standard silver likely bought in from the street (Nobles often melted down plate for coins) and just re melted old coins.
