Everyone's talking about the feet thing but I'm more concerned with the fact that the "No fun allowed" picture came from this. Maybe it's just me but I find that slightly more interesting.
The sonic lore and history is just amazing once you start digging into it. It’s probably got more lost media than anything. I mean look how obscure this is and we’re in the age of the Internet We’re literally anything can be found.
@@JohnDoe-kv3kd The Leapster was a edutainment handheld similar to a GBA that was really popular in the 2000s, but died in popularity when they switched to something called a "leapad" to cash in on the iPad craze. It did not end well, as why use all these special apps and programs when you can just get you kid an iPad (or a Qubi. Remember those?) and download a bunch of kids games onto there for free. The Leapster primarily made games based on popular children's movies or TV shows like anything Pixar, Star Wars the Clone Wars, Backyardigans, The Batman, ect. Most games on there were minigame collections. I had about 30 games, and of all of mine the only ones that weren't minigame collections were Sonic X (a crappy 2D Platformer based on the 4Kids dub of the Sonic anime, and yes, they got the actual voices) Batman Strength in Numbers, (an action Platformer with math-themed puzzles. Had three areas with three levels each and a boss which you can take out in any order like megaman before facing the Joker) and Amazing Wonder Park. (A rip-off of Roller Coaster Tycoon where you literally can't lose and the minigames you need to do to get money involve math)
+MrGamer In an Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog episode, it is revealed that Sonic's shoes are friction-proof, and that his feet would literally burn up if he tried running without his shoes.
This is the Sonic fanbase it's a lot more than just a "small" subset of fans, and this is coming from a Sonic fan... well at least we've been on the upswing since the movie
@@Chelaxim I mean the movie was pretty good and one of the best video game adaptations to be honest, and by upswing I'm meant like the community has been getting better as a whole, a lot less weirdos. they're basically cordoned off to their own section
@@grodcoyote6635 That’s how I like it with most subset groups. There’s always a subset somewhere in the fandom and it’s usually either highly toxic or just really weird.
+kordru He actually did have those a few times in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, particularly the episode where his shoes really did get stolen.
These sonic books are confused. They have the freedom fighters, but also dumb robotnik from the jaleel white series. And sonic lives underground like bugs bunny. Wtf
I'd say that the reason it says special edition on the back is because the comic bubble inflated to huge proportions during the late 80's early 90's and publishers were trying to cash in on anything that was pop culture related hoping collectors bought it.
Art Manwhinney also handled art for some of the Archie Sonic issues at the time these books were done, he did come back for special stories throughout its publication with a more cartoonier take than other artists
Id love to see you cover other weird video game books in a series. I have seen some weird Mario and megaman books from the 90s that would be interesting to hear about
Good thing you did this now. Next thing you know Sega will pull a Capcom and tell you that you can't show any of the art inside any book featuring any of their intellectual property.
Ahhh, I think Gilly means one of those combination shower gel / shampoo / conditioner products for men? In other words, said guy may be a "bro" in a negative fashion?
This seems to be based off the Archie comics that came just slightly before the cartoon series. Sally's design is based on the earliest version of the character. Even the writing seems more like the earlier issues than the SatAM series. Sally would never admit to liking Sonic in the series proper, and Sonic would rather have Sally join him in the fight, because Tails was considered the child of the group. Also AOSTH Robotnik for some reason.
Everyone's talking about how weird and gross this is, but who the hell gives their friends their worn smelly ass sneakers? And who _accepts that as a gift???_
Oh. I remember this book. I thought it was just a fever dream. But I remember that back in the day, this book resided in one of my classes. It's weird. And seems like a bizarre hodgepodge of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Sat AM.
totally had this book as a kid and never would have thought about it again were it not for this video. pretty sure i got it through the scholastic book fair?
2:36 Either I'm stupid or I forgot, but for quite the while, I thought that this specific image came from one of the early Archie Sonic comics, of which were also based on SatAM.
