I am a retired TV writer. As far as I know, when a confirmed interview is scheduled, a copy of the script or questionnaire (prepared by the writer) is given to the headwriter, the handler, the director, the artists and the executive producer prior to the shoot. Revisions are then made by the writer according to the feedback of the relevant people. During editing, the writer oversees the whole thing.. what to include and what to cut out. Then the headwriter and executive producer previews the edited material and gives the approval to air it or ask for re-edits. With so many people to go through before it reaches the viewing public... how come, nobody noticed that there's a bomb in that interview waiting to blow up in their faces? Unless, the intention was to be controversial (which backfired)🤔 I think the people around BGYO dropped the ball in this instance. 😔

Thank you for your take on this issue which I dismissed as irrelevant from the get go, maybe because what I felt was publicity stunts like this are quite common. One thing you said that stood out was how Filipinos respond to victim mentality. I believe A’Tin reacted because of this specific reason. SB19 did not have the advantage of a big network like ABS-CBN to back them up, yet they made it. SB19 had way worse bashing and hating raining down on them - plus they even apparently suffered abuse from management company handling them. SB19 was way more vulnerable about their feelings, but didn’t cast shade on anyone. I don’t support cancel culture. If BGYO is meant to succeed, if they are bent on succeeding, then this should resonate. It’s up to them to figure out how.

I did not watch the whole interview but from what I watched, what surprised me the most was them saying they were being excluded from P-pop rise”. They cannot be excluded because they are one of the most popular P-pop boy groups and by virtue of what they are, they are an integral part of P-pop rise. They were even as popular as SB19 at one point. However, there came a point where SB19 overtook them and now are the undeniable top P-pop group, locally and internationally. I cannot say why I was never hooked on BGYO like I am with SB19. Maybe their songs and personalities just didn’t resonate with me. They’re not being excluded, they just didn’t become as popular as their perceived rival(s).

One can be excluded and still rise to the top or not. Look at BTS they were excluded but were able to rise to the top of Kpop. I completely understand what they mean. It's easy to be exclude as an artist or group eg don't play their songs on radio, don't interview them, don't invite them onto talk shows. etc etc etc etc.

Their management believed that any publicity is still a publicity, days after this they announced their new song! Their strategy is to make them popular again, but in a bad way. Instead of working hard they ride on someone else’s fame just to go ahead, what a way to kill their own career. Sad really sad.

Lauren Dyogi is known to utilize bad publicity time and again. His PBB stint for example: it doesn’t matter to him if his show is causing somebody their character and reputation. So long as there is intense drama incited by the negative and triggering edits they make for the show to gain attention, he does it. He has no issue painting people in the worst light, regardless if the character in question is being presented as the most horrible kontra-bida you can possibly think of cause it translates to ratings. So yeah, I think the main purpose of that interview was to trigger the PPOP Community so they can turn heads, reputation and morals be damned.

HEAR ME OUT PLS. WHY DO I THINK THEY ARE PERTAINING TO SB19 AND ATIN? When MIKI said something like “alam naman namin na malaki tulong nina, insipirasyon sila, kaibigan naman namin sila, yung fanwars lang talga” MIKI “almost” dropped a name and gave hints like “inspiration” “friends” and “fanwars”. All of those words are indirectly pointing to sb19 and ATIN. 1. INSPIRATION: SB19 being successful. 2.FRIENDS:Some members of BGYO AND SB19 plays basketball or have private time together. 3. FANWARS: ALL OF US KNOW THAT ATIN AND ACES always have fanwars. Since he didn’t continue the name dropping, that is almost like giving a “BLIND ITEM”. So people will only speculate and guess. It’s not the people outside their circle who has the problem on what message they are getting, but on how these boys expressed themselves. Yes they are allowed to voice out frustrations but to “almost” single out a group and its fans is “sounding” like a blame. And most people react because they didn’t even answer the question “why do they think they have haters” Instead they focused on what they feel about the hate they receive. I agree that this is a double edged sword, they succeeded on creating a buzz but they failed to appeal to the majority. IT WAS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY TO TURN THEIR HATERS TO FANS. 😢

Exactly!

I might be nitpicking but their styling is way too bland ...sometimes they're too costume-y or too casual. But the main thing that doesn't click for me are their songs. While esbi songs always feels like stories put/cramped into meaningful lyrics of a 3-4 minute song, theirs sometimes sound like a compilation of phrases that rhymes and fits the theme that they chose. It's like they're talking too much without saying anything. I expected so much from them because even as trainees they have performed in big shows with the best artists and performers in the country. ABS is without a doubt the biggest entertainment company in the country but their strength lies more on LOVETEAMS and making teleseryes.. if you have noticed they have put up groups before but never really took off. They're too focus on making them popular not improving them as performers. And for me that's the problem.

This is like how most kpop fans blames ARMY'S that Kpop isn't popular enough in the US. Honestly if they have capability they can just naturally surpass any groups they think they can surpass. But to blame others why you didn't succeed is just strange to me. I mean, no one is blocking their path to succees, but since they couldn't succeed on their own they start blaming others without bothering to think maybe the problem is lies within themselves.

If BGYO define their failure by not being as successful and not as popular as SB19 then they better call it a day and quit. SB19 is SB19. They have their own brand of PPop and that is because they work hard and BELIEVE in themselves. Do you remember how some people criticized Bazinga saying it is a flop?? Well, we all know what Bazinga did to SB19's career and popularity. These boys are determined to make a mark in the Philippine music scene and they are determined to introduce PPop and OPM in all corners of the world despite the hate they receive from some of their fellow Filipinos and even fans of other groups. They also make their own songs and produce them, they choreograph their dances, direct and finance their own music videos, and are even amazing hosts, etc. That says a lot about their artistry. They are here to create and leave a legacy. They are obviously on a different track so let us give them credit for their hard work. BGYO should not measure their success by looking at SB19's success as a group. They have their own following and are one of the more popular boy bands in PPop. They have the backing of Abs-Cbn and can appear in any of their shows to introduce their group and music to people. I feel that they are comparing themselves to SB19 and are implying that their career as a group could advance further if only the fan wars would stop. You are in the music/entertainment industry and there will always be fans of other artists apart from your fans. Fan wars are even kind of "normal" already especially since you are a pop group. This is because the competition is stiff in pop music and pop fans, I feel - are one of the most vocal and active online. This is something out of your control. Some fans are just too passionate. Better to focus more on yourselves. If you want to become more popular as a PPop group and gain more fans, well - give them something to hype about. Give them something that they would enjoy. Maybe something authentic. Something new. I don't know. SOMETHING! You cannot demand adoration from casuals if they do not find you worthy. Para kang manliligaw pag dating sa fans. Ganun yun. I would discourage you though to measure up to SB19 because that is not fair to yourselves. Make your own mark in music and carve your own path. That is what I see in SB19 that made me believe in them and their music. SB19 received more bashing and insult compared to other PPop groups out there. In fact, to this day - despite their growing popularity and success as a group and individually they are still being bashed by their fellow Filipinos. Some of whom are even OPM artists and veterans at that (SHAME ON ALL OF THEM!). But it is not in the nature of SB19 to blame others and whine. They are way too busy honing their craft and thinking of new ways how to improve their music and performance. Now if BGYO would do just that, then maybe their fans will have something to hype about online and not be involved in fan wars with A'TIN. Don't play the blame game boys. Improve your craft and believe in yourselves. You cannot be blaming the fans of other groups for failing to achieve your goals. That attitude and perspective will not help you last long in this business. That is simply not the way to better yourselves.

I think Laurenti Dyogi is really an excellent trainor and manager. He handles a lot of talents in ABS CBN and produces Pinoy Big Brother, What is probably lacking in their workshops so to speak, is a bit more training in personality development, how to speak a little more eloquently whether in English or Filipino, which would be great to go with that talent. I remember one of the members in this same interview, while not exactly trying to insult Pablo of SB19, called him out by saying "Sejun" instead of Pablo and he was immediately coaxed into apologizing for the error. Someone in the background even suggested if they should publish a disclaimer as an apology to Pablo. Yes, some modesty and humility, too, goes a long way in the business if one is trying to appease a lot of fans, even those not one's own.

Only those who do not believe the talents and the strength of SB19 will feel threatened and offended.

About the bullying: It was actually the former member, RJ Perkins, who spoke up about being bullied whilst he was in the group. So yeah, it was a firsthand information coming directly from RJ. His mom also corroborated his story when she said that she had to send RJ to therapy after the emotional and mental abuse her son experienced. It was that serious and severe that they had to seek professional help. For these people to simply brush it off as simple teasing and “lalaki kasi/boys being boys” is disgusting.

compared to the bullying that SB19 has experienced then it might not be as hard. however, the bullying that sb19 experienced might not be from another specific member or members, but rather a collective bullying from the press, from certain members of the OPM artists, who are used to using the microphone/guitars/instruments to amplify their talents but here comes somebody/group that can dance, and still sing perfectly and just because they were trained by Korean events company, they were looked down by their fellow artists, but they did not blame others for the slow take off of their career but they rather worked hard to stay away from the doldrums....but give A'Tin their laurels too.

I watched the interview. And I agree with your take that BGYO is just expressing their frustration. But though they did not specifically mention A'Tin ...it is very clear from the context clues that they are referring to A'Tin. I am just wondering where the sentiment that they are being excluded from PPop is coming from. Who is excluding them? They have the might and power of the biggest network in the country backing them up. So when it comes to opportunities and exposure, they have a lot of edge over other PPop groups. They can do a lot of guestings, interviews and even endorsements thru the connections of their network ... and after SB19 and BINI, they are already the most successful PPop group. It is just that lately, so many issues involving some of their members. A'Tin has nothing to do with it. It is actually some talents within their network and some showbiz columnists and talkshow hosts who are talking about these issues. Bakit nadamay ang A'Tin? A'Tin has been quiet about their issues. Until they dragged the fandom in this interview...

Not all artists rise up to stardom rapidly like SB19, SB19 boys whether as a group or solo artists are having their time now, other artists should just be patient maybe its not their time yet. There are plenty of factors or strategies to make them fast rising… maybe, the management isnt doing a great job, but they can be creative themselves and shoot personal group RU-vid videos to display the other side of your personalities, e.g. Showbreaks, games, travel videos, dance practices and behind the scenes of music recording, styling, etc… just for exposure, which i think will help them a lot to be recognized… and educate casual viewers. It should be much easier at this time for the people to accept PPOP music, SB19 already endured the bashings, insults and offensive remarks, which i think greatly affected them, those trials didn’t stop them to go on. SB19 already paved the way, it should be much easier for other Ppop groups to rise, as long as they create good music.just double or triple the effort, shoot plenty of videos and use all socmed tools to let the world know you as a good Ppop band, worth stanning for.

Not everyone is perfect anyway. Sabi nila more haters more blessings . The past 3 years inuulan ng maraming blessings BGYO. I'm not hating other group but I want everyone to show also respect the feelings of Bgyo. They are human and they are also not mature enough dahil nasa 20 to 22 years old pa sila marami pa sila dapat matutunan, mistakes do happen lahat naman tayo nagkakamali in real life.

I first personally heard hours prior to learning of this interview was an audio clip of Aces fans having discussion - and there were bits where they refer to Stell and Sejun's looks in a negative way (not sure if the clip was old or new); or it might be that the audio clipped resurface because some already saw the BGYO interview. Might have fueled the feelings of A'tin when they heard this - but that's jsut speculation on my part. When i got to see the interview though; i really thought it was a publicity gimmick on the part of their management. Beacuse you were right, those few moments may have been edited out. In the end, as much as the BGYO boys were given a chance to air out their frustrations; we (A'tin) should be allowed to put out our responses to this as well. Sadly there were a lot of below the belt responses 😢 that dragged on. Thank you for your sharing your insight and for reminding the fandom to be responsible with the actions and interactions

my opinion is that it could be marketing strategy because if they create “scandal” even if it is bad publicity, what that guy said will spark interest on their group and their songs … I honestly don’t know them. I also am not aware we have other ppop groups besides SB19 and I just knew SB19 recently because of their AAA performance and I can say they raised the bar high. I checked some of their interviews and even found videos where reporters disrespected them and asked/say offensive comments but Ithey handled it well and answered without stirring any negativity. They also got hate comments and even one member were threatened, they almost gave up but then they used those negativity to fuel their passion and rise up which I think is very inspiring. They were just laughing at the hate comments and not let them affect them or just ignore them and continue to being themselves and true to their fans. Being successful in entertainment industry does not only require talent, it requires passion, values & personality with touch of destiny. If I’m not mistaken, I saw a video that they even want to have a P-Pop con (not sure if they were the ones who organized it) and the intention is to promote other ppop goup and show that all can exist in harmony. I just hope people will just spread more kindness than hate towards other.

I think from that it show's their true feelings of how they felt from that time and it's ok to voice that in fact it's good to voice it to get it out then move on from it. People shouldn't be afraid to be honest with what they think and feel it's not making yourself a victim you are being real. When people are being real are able then to move forward it's those who feel they have to hide everything who don't move forward and end up with mental health issues. They also have first-hand experience passive aggressive behavior and certain groups disrespecting them while they were performing in ppop ganaps.

Which they can improve.

You know as they say, “you’re famous if you got haters”. RM of BTS wrote in this lyrics in their Cypher 4 “I like hate comments more than no comments. Even if you hate me, you know me.” Don’t let those haters to get the best out of you and just concentrate on your music and art. Instead, let those haters have more reasons to hate you by being successful. You all can do it. Fighting!

I think one thing people forgets is that fans are human. Most of the time, we follow our heart than our mind. People can argue till end of time that this group sings better, dance better, looks better, younger and so on but in the end if their music doesn't speak to me, i will not listen to their music. I may give them a chance but it won't make it to my playlist. In simple words, their music does not suit my taste. It's not something you can force on people. That's why i only have one song from the no1 singer in my country. Don't get me wrong, her song is good, she's talented and pretty too but her style of music is not something i wanna listen to over and over again.

I’ve been to watch them in events with ppop fans, twice with kpop fans, and non-ppop crowd, you can really tell the difference in how the audience behave towards them. In ppop ganaps, they are being singled out. So you can’t blame them for feeling unwelcome in ppop.

What do you think is the reason why they are singled out. Personally, I think BGYO has the most potential to make it really big. I'm an A'Tin but I stream and support a number of other PPop groups aside from SB19 and BGYO is one of them. I think that in so far as talent, skill, visual and exposure is concerned they are in a better position than other PPop groups ... so I am not sure where is this issue about being singled out and being left behind is coming from.

BGYO's confessions are all valid. Many people are not aware, including myself, or probably not even interested in knowing about the gross disparagement and direct blow these boys received from the people with bad intentions. As I've watched their recent confessions, their intent was not to blame others but to fight the toxicity they are facing up to now because, if they do nothing, these would be detrimental to their character and careers in general. They definitely not lamenting about their failure because, in the first place, they didn't felt that way. Their five years (including their training days) of perseverance are all worthy and never they considered that as failure. They are not even on the race of attaining a global recognition; everything has its proper place and proper time. Patience is a virtue as long as they are in a right track. Sometimes, we need to pause and listen to our best boys or best girls, whoever we are admiring and supporting. Do not be easily shaken by other's opinions and judgment because, at the end of the day, we will be all united in thoughts and understanding despite our great differences and diversities. It's not what we feel nor what we think. It's what we know that make sense.

If only you really know the boys and watched the CONFESSION with OPEN MIND, NO HATE towards BGYO, YOU WON'T MISUNDERSTOOD IT or JUMP INTO ASSUMPTIONS. The CONFESSION was titled ON HATERS, the QUESTION asked was specified to HATERS so definitely the answers of the boys were POINTED OUT to HATERS, there’s no way it is pointed out to NOT HATERS/Good fans. But unless, if you hold HATE or whatever towards the boys, then you will take their answers or even the meaning of the whole CONFESSION differently. It would even lead you to WRONG ASSUMPTIONS. So, just letting you know po, Mikki is referring to ATIN HATERS of BGYO, NOT the whole fandom. Hope you got it po! As per ma'am said, we have an important role to play as fans. Let us be kinder, understanding, open-minded (very important) and just being a bigger person. NEVER LET YOUR CO-FAN or TRENDING ISSUES DICTATE THE FACT YOU BELIEVE! YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PERSPECTIVE. LEARN TO BE OJECTIVE NOT BEING MARITES! Be watchful, little did you know, that HATRED in your heart towards other idols/group is leading you to BECOMING A HORIBBLE/TOXIC FAN or a person. Remember, there is life outside fangirling/fanboying, our personal and spiritual life. Focus more on that po. Thank you.

@michellem6826 5 месяцев назад
I would like to give you my thoughts on your questions even though you did not ask. Question 1: What do you think of people saying that BTS is old and overrated and the 2025 comeback will be a flop. When I see people write these statements I look for anything they have added to support the comment. If there is no support for their reasoning, I ponder if this person(s) is a hater and want to spread negativity. I will ask why they think that if they have not support and then frame my thoughts on their response. If the response is false assertions then I move on. BTS members are currently between the ages of 26 - 31. For males, their vocals are in their prime in their 30’s. Based on this, BTS members are only going to get better when they return. With age comes experience but also bodies that don’t perform as well to certain choreography. BTS members know this and they have a team around them to prepare their bodies with more effort to meet the demands. The performance may be different but based on all past performances the concerts and other content will be topnotch because that is always what BTS delivers. The overrated comment is interesting. Overrated how? BTS members sell the most albums in total than any other group. They have more awards than any other group. In fact, there isn’t any group in K-pop that comes close to BTS in album and award sells. BTS is popular. Products they promote intentionally or unintentionally sell out regularly. When BTS all went into the media, Eastern and Western media talked about it. What other artists have that kind of pull? BTS have collaborated with some of the biggest names in music because these artists knew being connected to BTS would bring attention to them. Usher is performing at the Super Bowl half-time and he chose to collab with JK. I could go on. BTS has a proven track record. The comment that the 2025 comeback will be a flop is interesting. BTS hasn’t made a flop since their second album and that really couldn’t be stated as a flop. With a proven ability to be successful over a decade how would they suddenly be a flop when they come back in 2025? They will still be the talented, driven, humble and artistic members ARMY loves. They will come back with new stories to tell, more maturity, growth in their song writing, producing abilities and wider world views. They are going to be more interesting and charismatic. Question 2: Stray Kids are more famous now and way better in all aspects compared to BTS. Stray Kids are talented and earned global respect. However, even Stray Kids members would not say they are better or more popular. People have different preferences in music and may think one group is better than another but that is not about skill, performance and energy. That is about liking apples more than oranges thoughts. I would need to know what standard is being applied to know why someone thinks Stray Kids are better. Example: Taylor Swift has sold more albums than BTS but I like BTS music more. There is no comparison. Just a few thoughts.

Lahat naman ng fandoms has toxicity side. Mapa kpop, tpop, ipop not only in Ppop. And hindi magiging toxic yung fans kung di rin nila ibabash yung idols nila, all of us (a'tin) are super caring to our idols and sensitive kami when it comes to our idols cuz we really love them so much and we're so overprotective to SB19 kasi alam naman naming madami silang bashers and haters dito sa pinas. Pls stop comparing the fandom of bts and Sb19. BTS has a big fandoms and SB19, hindi pa ganon kalaki kasi di pa sila kilala worldwide pero papunta na kami dun. FYI, BTS fans are so much like obsessions to their idols and controlling every moves that BTS do and that so toxic. I know that because I'm a fan of bts before for so many years, but I can't with the fandom so I quit. Not only in bts but every k-idols out there. And pagdating sa bgyo and SB19 mas malala pa nga naranasan ng SB19, lahat ng mga panlalait kesyo "they are copying kpop" daw? but look at them, they are so silent walang explanation or reklamo na naririnig. Diba nga may cheating issues ang BGYO, maybe 1 or 2 members? Kaya sila hini-hate ng iba't ibang fandom. Stop being manipulative sadboy, kasi hindi nakakaangas. Not everyone is perfect anyway. Sabi nila more haters more blessings . The past 3 years inuulan ng maraming blessings BGYO. More pasabog this year sa BGYO kaya sa mga haters nila jan sa tabi tabi, stay pressed and bitter.
