Since so many of you drew a comparison to Orwo Wolfen NC500, I reached out to Lomography for an official statement. This is what I received: „It is always quite interesting and entertaining to see all the theories brewing between film photography enthusiasts! We cannot give out any details for obvious reasons, but I can confirm that we developed and produced this new film for Lomography, it is not based on cine or motion picture film nor expired film stock.“
Interesting response, could be that Lomography has their own deal with Inoviscoat in Germany, since it's the only company in Europe making color film. That's the company that actually makes orwo NC400/500 film and probably metropolis film.
Haven't had the chance to shoot my roll yet but great to see the results you've gotten out of it. Will try to shoot it in more flattering lighting conditions.
I learned about Marc, his camera collection, and his music in your last video interview with him. I've been mesmerized with his music performances ever since. Thank you.
Hmm looks like ORWO NC400 film, what it probably is since Lomography and orwo are working close together. Still nice to have another colour film option.
Was a good decision to give it to a lab. Your pictures look really different than what I got out of my roll. But I really liked that you were able to photograph it in new york. 👌
So what were these scanned on? There is absolutely no point about talking about the nuances of film characteristics without mentioning the display prep which makes at least 40-50% of the look.
OMG! At first I was like. Why he looks so much like Marc Rebillet? Then paid attention to his facial expressions and dipped to the description and felt like a complete idiot hahaha. Such a cool guest! 😄
New to the channel. I just came across it today. I enjoyed the video presentation and your thoughts on the film stock. Thank you for sharing this! New subscriber.
Nice video and nice film. Really looks like old Japanese or Chinese movies being pretty cold. Makes for an interesting look. With color film prices going up new one is always a welcome addition. I still have few rolls or Ektar and Superia Xtra so I abstain for now, I do not want to freeze my money in film ;) but I will consider it when time comes to refill my stock.
Small detail, but I love how the girl in the photo at 9:23 acknowledged you were taking a picture and responded well to it by making the V sign. New Yorkers are certainly more accustomed to street photography than people in other places I've been to. It's always nice that people are cool about getting photographed. Oh, and being on a photowalk with Marc - man, what a privilege. He's an amazing guy. Cheers! //Rick
As always I enjoyed your presentation. It was nice to see a review of the new film within 10min of my having received an email from lomography about the film. Keep up the great work and the very interesting "real world" rather than chart analysis of film, camera and lenses.
I was just about to buy some of this and now I'm glad I didn't. - it's horrid. I'll stick t the standard Lomography 400 colour. fair play to Loop Daddy for doing the video
Great Video Max, fun to see this new film on the horizon and a fun experience watching you and Marc try it out in a new way as usual :) Looked like you guys had fun! cant wait to try the new stock out, too bad they are so late to get everything here in Sweden, still hardly been able to get the Lomo Turquoise in stores here after they relaunched that one. Have a good summer and happy shooting :) Still enjoying shooting with the Olympus OM-4 Ti and the lenses you recommended a while back for it. Regards Martin.
It remains to be seen whether this film is a real alternative to CineStill. A big disadvantage of LomoChrome Color is the high price. In addition to the 12.90 euros, there is the same amount for processing the film in the LomoChrome laboratory. I don't understand why this is necessary, especially since this film can be processed as a normal color film. Or did I get this wrong?
Just like Metropolis, it need to be overexposed to look good on skin tones. I actually prefer Lomo Color Negative 800. Any chance you would review Light Lens Lab 's 35mm F2 collapsible LTM?
Looks like ORWO NC400 but somehow priced even cheaper than ORWO? I'm willing to bet this is an ORWO stock but whether just a repackage or tweaked remains to be seen. Either way, it's always good to see new stocks come out and even if it's a repackage, the NC400 is a wonderful stock and there's no harm in having it sold to a wider audience as LOMO.
ORWO NC400 was literally the first thing I thought about when I saw this film. The thing is though, ORWO still hasn't fulfilled orders from over a year ago. How are they supplying Lomography while people are coming after them asking where their film is?
Watched this and made me want to try delving into vlogging. I think you should do another video regarding what's best for editing. What programmes you use, how easy it is to use it. 👍👌
The blue basketball court just did it of me. Not so much the acutal court, but the colors and the shadow of the tree. I think this is going to be a great film choice.
Hey Max. Great update. The only issue with this stock, based on your scans, is the limited detail in the shadows. Perhaps you are at risk if you underexpose your image. Apart from that I can live with it.
