You're so kind to offer your services to a serious buyer. I hope someone takes you up on it. And this wonderful collection makes me so curious about the collector.

Hi, Steve. I never got along with Walker Percy either. Much prefer Flannery O'Connor. I still have my big brown Riverside Shakespeare (from the 1980s, I think). Not exactly portable, but wonderfully thorough.

Only Steve would wear black to mourn for the fragmentation of an American revolution collection

Hi Steve, I came to your channel through Michael Vaughan. I’m quite enjoying the content. I am also in Boston and I agree that the Brattle is a treasure.

I have the Riverside Chaucer and Shakespeare, but although I have the Longman Annotated Milton, I've never seen the Riverside version in the UK. I just loved this Brattle haul. I love Benjamin Jowett's translations. That is a beautiful condition. I have a couple of his two volume sets in slipcase, and treasure them, so I'm on for your read, if it going to be a readalong.

New subscriber here, I used to work at a music studio on the same street as Brattle, wonderful book shop! My personal library benefitted enormously during the years I worked there but my wallet had very different opinions on the situation. Commonwealth Books is a couple blocks away and in my opinion equally wonderful for different but not completely dissimilar reasons. Enjoying going through your older videos, cheers!

I have enjoyed 'The Sword of Truth" series very much. I am due for a re-read. Not many people think too highly of Goodkind's books. I started them back when he was still writing and releasing some of the later installments.

I absolutely absolutely want to participate in your Year of Philosophy that you just talked about. Will you please publish a list so I can start gathering the books now so as not to be behind? Thank you so much !!! Is there someplace to sign up ?

I think I dipped into Wizard's First Rule about twenty years ago and quickly bailed on it.

I wonder if this was from the library of New Hope PA?

I've been curious for awhile on your opinion on Walker Percy! I love him, but I'm probably more ideologically more closer to him than you are and have wondered if his writing itself cuts across that
@saintdonoghue

See, that's just it: I'd like to think that a) I wouldn't need to be ideologically close to an author in order to see the worth of their work because b) the worth of their work would transcend that kind of thing. Of course, no matter how much work I end up putting into Percy, it could just be that I don't LIKE him, just don't like the way he works with words on the page. Maybe I'll wait until I've amassed a few more books!

@@saintdonoghue Agreed! There's plenty of authors I like that I personally disagree with on probably everything. I've been wondering if I'm drawn to his ideas more than his writing (which I'm fine with...there's a bunch of different reason to like an author)

Hahahaha, I trembled when I saw that you got Aristotle. The Politics is literally my least favorite Aristotle! Why do you intend to punish me like this?!

The books you got look rather chunky.
