A video breaking down the hunting season: Autumn hunting, Opening meet and Hunting in the week. Also, some of the reasons as to why we have to be smart and what to wear to be smart but also warm and dry. My Instagram: montgomerythe3rd
Having giving up hunting 20 years ago after 35 years of hunting in Essex (yes I know!), your videos are great for an old man to reminisce. Keep up the excellent videos Monty, I look forward to new ones. Tally Ho!
This is a well done, pithy explanation. Great job. Your spurs are beautiful! How old is that wonderful signet ring? Looks ancient. :) Do please stay so delightfully eccentric, Monty. Don't let anyone or anything convince you to become a conformist. That way catatonic boredom lies. Avoid those who'd sneer at your fish flops slippers, mutter about your green hat, or snicker at your rainbow reins. People who are overly disconcerted by anything new or outside their idea of normal are shallow and fearful, an unfriendly combination. The world needs her eccentrics. We create change and evolution, but conformists would rather nothing evolved, grew or changed. Blessings to you and yours, and plz rub lovely Tonic's striped ears for me. :)
I really enjoyed this, thanks for putting it in a nutshell. As a show jumper in South Africa, I've never really paid too much attention to hunting in the UK, but this was really great info to know. I'm loving your channel, thanks for all the effort!
Excellent information! Been wondering about many of these points. Had no idea that barb wire fences were actually being replaced with hedge type etc how wonderful.
😊 I enjoyed the explanation about the attire and showing respect..., and about the whip you carry. Very interesting . 👌 I do enjoy your wit and humor, also.
Well I've watched a few of your videos and I subscribed after watching this one. I know about Western riding, but nothing about hunting, so thank you for taking the time to explain. 🙂
Great video, Monty. I've never been hunting, only watched from the side lines, so it's interesting to learn about the traditions. I was wondering if you were ever contemplating, following other RU-vidrs and bringing out some merchandise. Thought you could put Tonic on a top and have a slogan ' Just the Tonic' he's such a handsome boy, and I know I would definitely wear one.
Thanks a lot for that video ! Finally I got a perfect explanation for the whip my dad found after a hunt in our region. I never ever thought that it us used for opening gates, and also thank you got letting us Knie his it is held correctly 👍🏻👍🏻
those are some very nice spurs! I went to a registered showjumping show in a 'well-to-do' district and almost every rider wore very long spurs which seems a bit ridiculous.
love your videos i havnt been hunting for nrly 20yrs but now enjoy your videos from my armchair, although its making me want to go as ive never been trail hunting yet!
Good afternoon, please can you make a video explaining the road work preparation that you do in order to get a horse and rider fit enough to join the hunt. Thank you for the great videos.
Thank you so much for the explanation! I was wondering why all the formality. I am from the United States, so we don’t have much of that over here. I really enjoy watching your videos and your lovely horses!
I really loved this video as I ride Western in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. i've always wondered about the stuff you covered. We don't , water or hedges or clouds for that matter. It's the desert its clear and sunny summers are HOT but the rest of the year is comfortable.
Lots of useful tips here, Mr is in his first season as a horse owner tho he's been riding hirelings for a few years. Hoping to persuade him of the virtues of autumn hunting! Love the videos 🤩
A drag or trail hunt involves following a scent trail laid by folks on horseback and/or in little 4x4s. A rag tied to a string or rope is dragged along behind, and hounds follow that. Some hunts follow a human long distance runner, who introduces themselves to hounds before their run, so they'll know their scent and follow them. The grinning runner is gleefully mobbed by happy hounds at the end, just like during their much earlier introduction :)
Hi, we always called , what you call autumn hunting, 'cubbing'. Up soooo early! I'm way past that now😂 Tell me, do you still stitch your hat ribbons up? We never were allowed to wear them down.
Here in the USA, there is a lot less galloping and jumping as the countryside differs, however I feel based on your videos we get to watched the hounds working much more. What field are you in, I assume first? Do you ever see the hounds? How do the masters know where they are going?
Great informative video.. sounds a bit bad but I don’t like the thought of hunting foxes. Although I still watch. Do they put a scent down for hounds to follow, how often to the follow a fox .
