*_ADDITIONAL : Please read before commenting_* One extra piece of information that I forget it add in this video (thanks to Ivanov for reminding me) is during the events of Big Finish's Planet Of Dust, The Eleven explicitly references the events of First Frontier as an example of The Master prolonging his life. As such this does put the idea of the Tzun Master forward as more likely canon.
I like the sound of this Master. Really cool! The Tzunite idea making the Ainley body fully Time Lord and turning into the Tzun master, only then to fail and revert back is a really cool concept imo. (the edit was a typo)
It is certainly a very interesting concept, and providing they could get the rights and find a suitable actor it would possibly be a great thing for Big Finish to go along with
And the fact that he was supposed to resemble an evil Basil Rathbone (the original Sherlock, by the way). Anyway, I was thinking his engineered body failed simply because his DNA was too corrupted and unstable, which is why kind of he had to return to his original 13th incarnation in order to be given a new, legit regeneration cycle. Though it kind of makes me wonder what would have happened if the Time Lords tried to give him his cycle second while technically still in Tremas' body (I presume they would just flush it down the toilet, so to speak).
Great video. I think Tzun Master is a great explanation as to what happened to the master after survival and while I can picture Rathbone as this incarnation, I think if this was ever explored on screen Riz Ahmed would be my pick to play him.
Thanks and I have to admit I hadn't heard of him but having just looked him up then appearance wise I certainly think he'd be a great fit, and the incarnations description is vague enough for anyone of any ethnicity to fit the role
If only the tzun master hypnotized servants to get the warp core energy into his Tardis he would have had a free regeneration cycle without the timelords help
By the time The Master was trying to access the War Core, he had long since lost the Tzun body (and by extension his new regeneration cycle), and reverted back to the failing Ainley one, which is the one that was later stripped off him by the Warp Core
@@CaptainJimiPie I wonder if Dhawan is the last master or at least the last one for television now that he has the cyberium he has more knowledge and power and regenerating cybermen I think when the doctor defeat the cyber masters whatever they are the master will be gone forever
I HIGHLY doubt they'll ever permanently kill of The Master, as they're so intrinsic to the show that they will ALWAYS come back...they are pretty much The Doctor's arch nemesis, or at least one of them.
To be honest I just prefer to wait and see, everyone has their own casting ideas but ultimately I think waiting to see won't ruin the anticipation, rather than expecting/hoping it to be someone it probably won't be.
This isn’t hate at all. I really enjoyed the video and it was very informative. It’s just, I find the “A Brief History” repetition in the title, a bit jarring. Apart from that, a great video.
Thanks, although the reason it's there twice is because the overall series is called "A Brief History" but there will be future videos which won't necessarily have that subtitle as well, plus the title doesn't detract from the overall content of the video
I’m not really the biggest fan of the concept of canon. Making things non-canon makes it seem like some stories aren’t worth it, which they most likely are. If something conflicts, fine. Doctor Who is full of paradoxes and other things so it shouldn’t really be that big of a deal tbh. Also this is a great incarnation of the Master, I wish he had more stories than 3.
Well it's worth noting that when it comes to a "definitive canon" then Doctor Who doesn't really have one because it's different for each person, because even if you go by "the TV series is the main canon" that still leaves lots of plot holes left unresolved unless you include at least some of the expanded media. The UNIT Dating Controversy and it's resolution in Big Finish's Legacy Of Time is a prime example of this. For me personally canon is what accounts for and adds up the most different continuities, but it's simple impossible to include EVERY continuity, so sometimes things do need to be considered "non-canon" for the wider theory to work. And the only reason I do that is because personally I'd prefer to have a theory (even if it's of my own making) that fits than have a unresolved paradox or plot hole...but again each to their own :)
I'm still working on getting the channel set up and getting channel art and things sorted, I've got several videos lined up but I want to wait until everything it ready for it to go live
