Switchfoot is my all time favorite band, and Jon Foreman is my all time favorite songwriter. I thought it'd be a cool tribute to look through their past 20 years as a band, and pick out 50 guitar riffs that I feel define them. The rule was: you have to choose at least one song from each of the 10 albums. Here's my list:

[almost 3 years later] - Dude, you are so tallented! I'm from Brazil, and Switchfoot is my favorite band too... And it's so nostalgic to see all these riffs, in just one video! I remember all the evenings listening along this amazing band. That helped me to be a better person too. Keep doing man! (Nice setup btw)

Hey thanks for making this. It was what inspired me to start playing guitar myself. Justin Muncy that’s a song me and boyfriend relate to and the movie it was in (“a walk to remember”) because I’m pretty ill right now with tips one diabetes and I’m currently waiting to get an appointment with a specialist to run tests on my kidneys because somethings wrong with them. My boyfriend has been strong and loving so loving.That’s why I take that song very very close to heart. Hope you liked the small story 😂

I just bought my 1st electric guitar last night. I’ve wanted a Les Paul for over 25 years (I’ll be 48 next week) but decided to get a Epi ES 335 for now. Really excited to start playing and giving praise to God in the process. However, I was disappointed in not finding many Christian Rock riff or tutorials on RU-vid. Finding this video really encouraged me. In 1999 I was extremely depressed. My fiancé died in a car accident 12/11/96 - 3 days before my birthday, so I moved to Colorado. Met a guy from church in ‘99 named Mr.Brusso. He said he met Switchfoot and said they were gonna be huge soon.He gave me their New Way to be Human cd. Loved their album. But I was totally blown away by their 2003 album Beautiful Letdown. Helped me out of my dark time. Thank you for doing this video. Would love to see some tutorials on Switchfoot. When I get better I will do something like this. Guardian , Audio Adrenaline and PFR are other great bands I would cover or do tutorials on as well. Anyways, thank you and keep up the great work!

It suddenly hit me last year that if Needtobreathe didn't exist, Switchfoot would definitely be my favourite band. I have started becoming more intentional in listening to them and collecting their albums and watching your video and knowing the heart behind it has been so uplifting! I liked it even before watching but the 9 minutes make me wish I could give you more likes. Eagerly waiting for Album 11 riffs!

If by back catalogue, you mean earlier stuff: since I was focusing on the best riffs, there were so many from the later years that were just too good to pass up. There are memorable songs from the first three albums, but not so many memorable riffs so to speak- It's all opinion at the end of the day.
