@@karstenschoenberg9736 yeah it’ll be really cold but it won’t stop the army from marching Jan and feb there’s so much mud and it’s cold asf hard to pull cannons that’s what napoleon means
That's actually an amazing punishment. It's strange because one would think that… after all the people he and his army killed… and after all the turmoil they caused… that they would EXECUTE HIM... not send him to a tropical paradise. It's like saying "Hey, we know you and your army killed millions of people but we need you to go on vacation to this island now".
@@MaktownTV well... but for the Spain intervention and the attack in Russia, all his wars were in position of defense... the thing is, he knew how to fight defensively... by going on enemy land and fight there before the enemy was ready...so, the European powers knew that they were the attackers... also, this may have been a bad move to execute him in regard of his popularity with the French peoples... a bad move if you try to make a continental peace
One of the missing troops was my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather. He was injured and left by the French somewhere which is now the border of Poland and Ukraine and he later moved to Piaseczno a town under Warsaw.
Napoleon The Disaster is what we call him. Napoleon’s colossal disasters completely erase ALL of his victories, and by no means did his territorial occupations lead to complete conquests and subjugation of enemy forces. A conqueror does not later get conquered himself like Napoleon did, that is not the way it works. Napoleon’s colossal disasters prove that he was less than brilliant. Egypt was a disaster (one of the worst plans in military history). Spain was a disaster (unwisely attacking your one ally that had been able to go toe to toe with your biggest enemy, Britain), Russia was the WORST disaster in military history (nuff said). Leipzig was a disaster (all of the veteran soldiers and generals that Napoleon carelessly wasted in senseless campaigns came back to haunt him with less experienced commanders and untrained soldiers). Waterloo was Napoleon’s fault for foolishly dividing his army and rushing into battle. In the end Napoleon left France in tired, defeated, in huge debt, forced to pay 700 million francs in reparations, occupied, and forced to revert to her 1790 borders. Also under Napoleon, France sold Louisiana Territory for pennies on the dollar (The fledgling United States takes advantage of Napoleon and rips France off), and France lost their most prosperous colony, Haiti, to a slave revolt. That’s right, Napoleon lost to slaves fighting with rocks and sticks. That is not great leader. I don’t want a leader who will leave my country occupied, defeated and loss of territory. Because of Napoleon, France would NEVER challenge Britain again, and the Pax Britannica would last 100 years. That is why Napoleon was a huge blessing in disguise for Britain. Honestly, it is shameful that France created an unwarranted monument (Arc de Triomphe) to themselves, glorifying battles in wars that France actually lost because of Napoleon, as France deceptively tries to portray that Napoleon was a triumph when he was NOT.
@@lsatep Lul , can you even be more the caricature of the biased, delusional and salty english dude that can't help himself hating anything that won't praise the England and stoke your ego ? Even if it means distorting facts to make you the cool guy. " Napoleon The Disaster" Nobody calls him that apart from you and your tiny circlejerk.
@@lsatep I can't understand why there's a lot of English who think they are the most powerful country in to world, stop with "who has the bigger d" and learn History. English people are so bad in History that they think they never lost a war. Something who's not english isn't always bad, and must remind you that Napoleon Bonaparte and a lot of the french, german generals are way more genious and effective than your Wellington and Nelson, all your generals have been sources of propaganda and don't deserved it. If you think Britain won alone the Napoleonic Wars, well that's not true, and think about one thing, why did Britain attack France so late?? Because they know their infantery was nothing compare to Napoleon's army. They win waterloo thanks to the German and would have lost without them.. France is the source of Liberty and Napoleon's fought for it (Ik he retablished slavery, like the entire wolrd in those days, everybody weren't paying attention to foreign countries) and the coalitions fought him to retablish the Monarchy. Several countries have been defeated by one country in 10 years, 1 vs Coalition, so stop thinking Britain is the strongest country. By the way you'll know for the future that France out of 168 battles fought since 387 BC, they have won 109, lost 49 and drawn 10", making France the most successful military power in European history, yes, Britain is not firt, revise your lessons (French are not cowards, weird isn't it?? ?)
@@lasalle1042 i actually didn't know that .that's cool .i always cringe when white Anglo would shit on frace for being weak and growing up i always felt that was propaganda but i don't have enough information that times of Europe history cuz i just spend time and the other countries that America refuses to pain fairly. Im honestly not suprise. And i always thought its alittle weird how a country as big and long lasting and influential as France would be seen as week .frace has always had quite the presence in northern steppes since the start so i can't imagine they were just useless and England never thought to take that shit considering they try to take everything else lol
@@komlat253 Since a Long Time english and american are joking about France, for several minor reasons... The problem is that the english today really think France is weak and that's a shame for History. But as a French I don't personally Care of those jokes because I know our capacities
4:34 Napoleon: ...so, over there... the Guards to the left of Napoleon: MY EMPEROR, FROM HEART TO SUN! Napoleon: FOOLS! THE WRONG TIME LINE, IT'S TOO EARLY!
BEASTIEMAN 420 History is great, as long as you realize that it is a collection of SUBJECTIVE narratives. And usually, you are hearing the version of history written by the winners, not necessarily the true story. My dad was a diplomat and so I grew up in several different countries. What always amazed me as a boy in school 10-18 is that when I moved to a new country every 2-3 years, the version of history I was taught in schools was very different.
History is garbage cause it's subjective and each nation has its own version of History and nobody know what the true History is (especially not the one that you learn in high school)
First of all when he reached the Russia and Moscow the city was empty as other small villages. By the time he burned Moscow tjere were a lot of casulties as the Russian soldiers relied on gurilla tactics in the destroyed city which worked even when troops began to move forward out of the city. This made Moscow not secure and let Napoleon push forward even when he was losing which led to hos defeat.
0:48 I can tell you're not from the States, that map is totally wrong. At the time of the revolution, the US controlled Maine as well as all territory south of the Great Lakes gained in the 7 Years' War, making the borders of several states completely wrong for the time period including Georgia, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
I just found your channel, please come back and post more soon. You have great content! I know you haven't posted much recently but imma sub in hopes of mord
He never said that Russia didn't use scorched earth tactics, he merely said that the napoleonic troops burned down Moscow which in fact truly happened, just look it up.
Haha Russia is harsh and leathel in every way .go to war Russia and have to go to war with all of Russia. Even the weather is fighting yo ass haha. Russia has a well trained climate, even its Russian itself. Kick your ass haha..i bet Russian food will do that too .shiz
This show is almost comedy In every episode, Sharpe and his two mates take down an entire cavalry division by themselves. It's like if a CoD campaign was set in the Napoleonic Wars....
@@LeHappiste Didn't you know that Britain single-handedly defeated Napoleon? Napoleon was ruling all of Europe, then the Brits sent a 100% English army at Waterloo and France was defeated and had to give up all its conquest.
France: overthrow's the monarchy Britain: Panic France: reinstalls a dictator as emperor Britain: Calm France: Declares war on Europe Britain: *Mega panic*
He wasn’t there for any of them. The first one was successful though. Duke of Wellington won Porto back by kicking french out then saved it again with lines of Torres Vedras
1st invasion was successful but was cut off when the Spanish revolted ser arthur wellesley landed in pirtugal with 25,000 men and defeated the invaded french forces of 11k men under junot 2nd invasion was by me but i only stopped at porto for resupply and rest the army after storming it but was then surprised by wellesley at porto and drew me out back to galicia in spain third invasion was by massena which is THE failure since the torres vedras stopped massenas army and soon starve outside of lisbon forcing him to retreat and thats it
Napoleon won the Battle of Borodino prior to moving onto Moscow, but he failed to capitalize on it. The retreating Russian forces were able to quickly replenish their ranks. After leaving Moscow behind (which was burned by Russians, by the way, as part of “scorched earth”), the French started moving back to France. The Russians continued to pursue and harass them, whittling down their numbers even further. Napoleon’s big mistake was assuming that taking Moscow would force Russia’s surrender. Nope.
Yup. He should have realized that primitive slavic culture and stubbornness meant he had to kill them all or they wouldn't realize how much of a bad situation they were in and wouldn't surrender. Until the winter decided to save the Russians of course... Like it always does...russia gets to live twice just because of the winter. If it wasn't for the winter, Russia would have been genocided by Napoleon and later by Hitler...
Hello VC3 I've become a big fan of yours in the last 3 weeks and I want to make videos just like you. So I have a few questions for you. #1 What Microphone do you have #2 how do you make your animations #3 what kind of editing software do you use btw your channel is really underrated and I love your videos (especially the ones about Scandinavia)
I know Hitler took inspirations from Napoleons tactical genius but, I find it crazy how similar their fighting style was and how similarly the soviets reacted like their ancestors. Both Napoleon and Hitler attempted to invade Russia whilst simultaneously attacking Britain. Both got to Moscow or close enough. And both were ill equipped to deal with Russia’s scorched earth tactics and Russian weather. Therefore, leading to both Hitlers and Napoleons demise. It’s like Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”
5:22 not all peninsula, since portugal resisted and expeled the french, portuguese capital was, at that time, rio de janeiro cause royal family run. French couldnt got a grip on portugal cause of all of atretion (guerrilla warfare in spain, peasents revolts on portugal, and anglo-portuguese army's)
He also forgot to mention that Napoleon sent 3 armies to invade Portugal and 3 times he failed (the 3rd time being expelled by the British and Portuguese ay combined). Our Royal family might of fled to Brazil but Portugal has always been more than that, it's the Portuguese people and their stubbornness that make us who we are.
It doesnt matter... What matters at is always the bigger figure by all means it was Napoleon who died. Same thing as for example West Ham vs Barcelona (2-0 West ham victory) the news won´t be " West ham won Barcelona" the only thing that will matter is " Barcelona lost"
Actually The king Louis the 16th wanted to start taxing the Church and the nobility not the third estate (they were already taxed heavily much of which went into the pockets of the nobility). This lead to the meeting with all three estates where because the nobility and church did not want heavier taxes they overruled the king. But this assembly was unfair against obviously the third estate which lead to them forming their own national assembly. SO no it wasn't just taxes of the third estate that started the thing. it was in trying to increase the taxes of the rich this started.
I hate when people use the painting of the woman in the yellow dress holding the Tricolore when talking about the French Revolution. That painting was based on the Revolution of 1830, better known as the July Revolution (not be confused with the Iraqi one of the same name)
Everyone complaining here already knows, so why are they here? I think this was a good job. I came to just get a brief overview before I jump into the bulk of subject. Let them eat cake! or go suck an egg.
I’ve always been interested in the Napoleonic wars. I’ve been to re-enactments and played online games (Mount and Blade, Total War) Re-enactments online. It’s just so interesting to think about the battles from the perspective of the soldiers.
@Khaled Msemen Napoleon was an idiot. He turned on Spain and then kept sending countless Frenchmen to needlessly die in a guerrilla war he had no chance of winning.
the problem wasnt louis it was his wife Marie Antoinette, she lost huge amounts of money by gambling with the queen of russia and kept mocking the civilians at every occasion
@@nahouledeb5949 Louis XV just destroyed France (despite being victorious in the war of Austrian succession, he gave up all its conquest because he did not want to look like a conqueror... it was the most useless war France fought, and then the 7 years war which was against pointless for France and weakened the colonial position of France). Then Louis XVI inherited the mess.
I have to hand it to Napoleon. My country survived 3 invasions from the French army. Had Napoleon not backstabbed Spain my beloved Portugal would of been conquered and handed over to Spain. That's the only reason I respect the French 😂😂
@@kierancarlos3069 Wrong and Wrong, 1st- If Napoleon hadn't backstabbed Spain, Portugal still wouldn't have been handed to Spain, just like with Spain Napoleon intended to give Portugal to a family member (another one of his brothers I suppose) and create a Viceroyalty. 2nd- The British didn't "Liberate" Portugal as Portugal hadn't been completely occupied at the end of the 3rd invasion yet, the city of Porto was free by the time the British landed there, yes it would've been the case if the British landed later but when the brits landed in Mondego bay the city was being held by Portuguese militias and army and the Spanish army as well as they allied with us after Napoleon back stabbed them, the city had been taken back by theses forces a few days after. 3rd- much like Spain, while civil forces became subservient to the French, the populace wasn't, with riots breaking out in Lisbon when Junot raised the French flag on Lisbon's public buildings on 13 December, the battle of Évora happened a few days before Wellesley landed there.
and their Portugal lots its empire and was no more a power country, thanks France lol i'm trying to find a reason why french should respect portugese.... thats difficult
When English came but before he succeed in Portugal, but nvm First King of Portugal is French Alphonse 1 er son of Henri de Bourgogne. So King of Portugal are from France following Alphonse son. 9 king of Portugal were French Capétien.
@@DanielRodrigues-pi6yw The only reason was because Napoleon had a permanent argument with the spanish Portugal was irrelevant in war related, he didn't succeed because he was fighting 4 countries at the same time and one of his armies got backstabbed by the spanish while marching to Portugal
@@garbageday587 he captured lisbon, that means nothing we moved our capital to Brazil when we knew they were comming, they tried three Times and failed the three
@@David-xu4th Lmfao if your government runs across a damn ocean and your capital is in your enemies hands you are pretty captured, mate. C'mon portuguese ppl, no one is taking you serious.
Napoleon - Since he reacquired the Louisiana Territory in 1800 and sold it to the United States in 1803 that means he was the ruler of "Americans" for about 3 years. Not "United States citizens" but they were still "Americans". Fascinating.
