I never pass up on an opportunity to blab on about Hondas, so here's a (sorta?) brief and opinionated history of the VFR, Hondas renowned sport touring platform with its iconic V4 setups.

By the way, I mentioned the change in render time for motovlogs (7 hours down to 10 minutes) This voice over vid file took 5 minutes to render...down from maybe 2 hours (4 if I decide to throw my orange tint on it) Normally I would just leave the house while a video renders so I don't have to stare at it.........this time, I just made a bagel.

5th Gen for me. I've had three and all fitted with aftermarket pipes (Remus, Micron and Viper) the noise on each was sublime but the Remus (in high level form) was brilliant for looks, build quality and sound. I think Honda missed the point completely when they introduced the vtec in the 6th Gen. Who the hell wants a powerband on a sports tourer?

Love all bikes however, if I could only have two, it'd be the ST1100 for tour and my Vrod for light to light city fun. Again, one of the best videos I've seen. [Hears the 5th Gen called ugly] [STARES IN 5th GEN OWNER] j/k, great video. Taste is taste, but I love the look of my 5th gen. The linked brakes sound like a bad idea, and if you want to slide your rear wheel, they might be, but in normal riding the system is almost invisible and the available braking power is huge. I jokingly refer to it as the most normal motorcycle ever made, but that’s a compliment. It’s fast enough for me, it has no bad habits, and the engine is so tractable.

5th Gen any day, every day. Had the fuel injection, gear driven cams, but not the ‘peaky’ v-tec that was not popular. Only thing going against it and that not a big deal was the ‘condom’ wing mirrors! Replaced by the previous type on the gen 6.

It's a heck if a lot better than people think it is, but nobody wants to give it the light of day because it got shit reviews from people expecting the wrong things from it. Not saying it isn't without a few weird and annoying "issues" but it's way better than people give it credit for.

In my case, it's mainly a matter of being notable, having an interesting backstory, or making me think about something beyond the bike itself. By the time you get to the 1200, it's really just more of the same stuff and generally speaking I try to avoid simply citing a spec sheet.. the bike doesn't quite have the same interesting factor of the previous ones even though I'm sure if I ACTUALLY rode one I'd love it for the reasons you'd supposed to love it for.

Interestingly recently I saw multiple of the 1st generation ones on sale here... these look very special and appealing for me and some are in quite nice condition. Another bikes which i really enjoy to watch and think of getting one as a summer bike: Honda Hornet 900(aka 919), Yamaha TRX850, Honda CB1300, Kawa ZXR 1200 ... Very nicely matching music at the beginning! But somehow at 0,75 speed the video is more enjoyable for me :D

Sixth gen owner here. The VFR isn’t the kind of bike that will set your hair on fire with performance but it might just be the most well rounded machine you’ll ever ride. It exudes quality and is more than capable as both a sport or touring machine. The V-Tech hit isn’t enough to worry about even in a corner, yo. That part of your video made me rewind about six times, hilarious.

Honda have been ahead of the pack since the 60's. Their racing bikes of that era are incredible.

Absolutely. So much engineering from the 60's up to the 90's

Also had a Honda mbx125 that was more or less a 125 version of the red VF you see in this video. Looked almost identical. Hondas are the greatest bikes ever!

I loved the vid. Nice one. I ride the VFR1200x. Not the fastest or up to date bike on the road but I love the lazy engine. Effortless to over 120mph, no sorry gets you to 70 and can stay there all day. And for the size and weight, still quite nimble through traffic.

Dude. Srsly. You can talk about Honda as much and as long as you want. I'll be here every time and enjoy you talking about them. Also, out of the 7 bikes I have owned, 5 have been Hondas, and two were VFRs, and after an '06 CBF 1000 with fuel injection and ABS, I am now riding a '97 VFR 750. The VFR isn't the lightest bike. It isn't the most powerful bike. It also isn't the best handling bike. But it doesn't have to be, because the VFR is the perfect bike. ;-)

I had a 83 Magna 700, it had shredded 2nd gear(they all did) but it was still a beast, what a cool bike. With the MAC exhaust it had it sounded 100% badass. I had a 94 CBR1000F with that wacky combined braking. It was kind of annoying but it did work pretty well

Ugh....I know all about broken second gears...pretty cool to hear a first hand account about the combined braking, knowing me, I'd despise it.

I bought my gen4 97 silver twice haha. I sold it and went on to buy ride and flip alot of bikes searching for more power more excitement. It came back on for sale locally and i missed it so bad. So bought it again still have it now years later. What i found is the more power and tight suspension you get is not built for UK roads but the vfr750 eats them up and you can sling it about and use the torque it gets me into more trouble than my gsxr1000k4 because you cant push that!

Ok I've figured it out. Yes your video I just discovered today is excellent. I have a 1994 VFR in garage soon to be running. Also I wonder if you did some podcasts in 2016/2017 from Indian country because your voice pattern is almost exactly like this other gentleman. Thanks!
