They are husband and wife and I believe this is the film where they fell in love so that chemistry is real. The director is immensely talented. You should def watch the rest of the songs. Ranveer Singh is an amazing actor with a lot of charisma and you’ll see that in some of the other songs. All the songs from this film are good as are all the songs from most Sanjay Leela Bhansali films. He’s just a genius and you’ll see that the more you explore his work.

I don't know where you got the futuristic sci-fi bit from. It's a story set in modern India, but in a small provincial town, hence the traditional costumes. Bhansali, the director, is known to use stylised sets, so not much realism in there, but it's certainly not a movie set in a juxtaposed space of past and future. Also, almost every indian movie is a fantasy.
He wasnt smoking a cigarette...its called a bidi...tobacco rolled in a tobacco leaf..tied with a thread...prevalent for many years and still in rural india.
You should definitely check out the song Deewani Mastani. Same director and actors and visually stunning. Also Maar Dala: it’s from the 90s, same director, and it will introduce you to one of the absolute queens of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit.

I think you should definitely check out the trailer of Haider. An adaptation of Hamlet set in Kashmir , directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. He has done Bollywood adaptations of Othello and Macbeth as well.
The song Deewani Mastani from the movie Bajirao Mastani carries a pretty subtle essence of authentic Indian culture, costume and dance where Deepika looks utterly magnificent and thus is worth giving a try.
Jana Gana Mana is the national anthem of India, not just a song. We need to stand at attention when we hear it wherever we may be, whatever we may be doing. Not doing so is considered disrespectful.
This isn't remotely sci-fi, it's an artistic adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, hence the warring families. Oh and also cigarettes aren't modern, India has had the traditional cigarette called beedi since ages.

I feel like your concept of sci fi is very flawed. Historical fiction? Kind of, Dystopian? May be, fantasy? Still maybe but sci fi? Definitely not. Sci fi is science fiction, futuristic movie that is deeply embedded in science like interstellar or arrival. There was no scientific element anywhere in the plot that you read.
