I simply NEED to ask, Dark Souls lore reaction when? If you're already this attached, then Vaatividya will be able to shed lots of light onto each and every little thing relating to either the game's general lore, or the story of a side character that's crestfallen, Patches from every game Sekiro, Poor old Yhorm the Giant. To learn them requires a whole lot of effort to patching together a single character's full story with every item description, dialogue, enviroment, behavior, everything!
Not just dark souls lore, but sekiro, bloodborne, and elden ring, and his videos have been getting better and better. You guys need to watch vaatividyas prepare to cry!
Duuude yea lore and the cutscenes are definitely needed to fully enjoy dark souls 3 and just any from soft game! I feel these trailers didn't show as much to fully understand whats going on.
Not sure when it’ll happen but it’s going to happen. We enjoy good lore and the souls series games seems to have a ton of it that wouldn’t have patience to piece together on our own playing it 🤗
Ah, Ds 3 is the game I like replaying the most in the series simply because of the bigger focus on bosses. Slave knight Gael(the character narating the ashes ariendel trailer) is still the best way a franchise has ever ended on by having you fight no demon or dragon or god, but a fellow undead trying to fix the world at any cost.
Im a firm believer that anyone can play these games because of the wide variety of ways to approach it and playstyles you can go for. The most important thing is you have to be determined. Maybe get someone to tell you the fundamentals on how to approach these games and youre honestly good to go!
And not to get angry when you get beat down a bunch cause it will happen. But yes anyone can play them and beat them, specially because you can always grind out a ton of levels and make everything super easy.
The Ringed City is the finale of the Dark Souls trilogy and my goodness it could not have been done any better. It still brings a tear to my eye thinking about how perfectly they wrapped everything up and the final battle could not have been any more right in terms of tone, setting, opponent, everything.
If you are interested in watching Dark Souls lore, I would recommend Vaatividia’s “Prepare to Cry” series on the lore of Dark Souls. But you might be confused on what is happening because you haven’t played the games to get the basics. However it’s understandable if you don’t want to play Dark Souls to watch Vaatividiya’s “Prepare to cry” series
@@chunchunmaru1995 true, I hope that they play it cause The Dark Souls franchise is very good Though I wonder how they would react to playing Dark Souls 2
Hmm. Maybe there is a good intro video before the prepare to cry series we can check out. But we do eventually plan on playing or at least trying out Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring 😅
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Understandable, some people do consider Dark Souls 3 to be a good starter for their descent into FromSoftware game, but I can understand you guys don’t vibe with the series’s gameplay. I understand that FromSoftware games aren’t for everyone and you shouldn’t feel forced to try them out
"That dragon woke up" killed me for some reason. I love watching people react to dark souls for the first time. It's such a beautiful and intense game.
As a long time Souls player, the games are very hard, but with enough time and patience put into it, anyone can succeed in a game! FromSoft always knocks it out of the park with their games, and can’t wait to see more from you guys!
The games are hard but consistent. Once you get used to it, it gets wayyyy less hard. Its a nice feeling, its like, you truly do get good after some time.
For more cryptic stuff I highly recommend "The Lord of the Frenzied Flame" by Vaatividya. It's the best lore video I have ever seen. It's about Elden Ring lore, specifically one of the paths you can take in the game, some may call it "the bad ending". It's quite cinematic and he even worked with a guy to extend a music track to be longer and more dramatic just for that video. It's quite the viewing experience.
This is definitely my favorite reaction channel and I'm glad I found out about it nearly 2 year's ago, nearly everything you guys reacted too are things I'm interested in. I absolutely love the souls borne games, not only bc of the game play but the deeper meaning behind the games themselves. You should give it a try and not be intimidated by the difficulty, the game is only as hard as you make it. And the prepare to cry souls lore videos are so good.
"Better the Devil you know, than the Angel you don't." To be alive in a nation of honored undead is to carry the seeds of undoing. Cyndi Lauper's song is covered by Faux Fix with arrangement by Richie Kohan.
Vaatividya is who you should check out for Lore videos. All of this videos are incredibly well put together and narrated. He has stand alone lore videos as well as his Prepare to Cry series which focuses on some of the more interesting and tragic characters. The Children of Chaos, Artorias, and Patches in particular are all incredible.
If you're interested in the soulsborne universe and want more, like many others, I highly suggest vaatividya. His work ("prepare to cry" series) is amazing and his newer videos are even better. The production quality is off the charts and narration is just beautiful. I also recommend checking out the bossfights along with the videos as they tend to have some AWESOME visuals and soundtracks along with them. Also, I think starting off Elden ring as your first souls game is the right call as it's the one with the most freedom and hand holding.
Vaati is a reliable source, but I often disagree with some people who describe him as essentially being the DEFINITIVE source as if his interpretation is always right.
@@SolProxy no soulsborne lore interpretation is always right. After all, Miyazaki himself intended for each player to fill in the gaps themselves. But I think of all the many sources, his work is the most enjoyable.
Vaati is a good source on Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, true. But if you want to take a dig deeper into underlying themes, tropes, and cultural idiosyncrasies, Last Protagonist is definitely worth a watch and listen. He addresses a bunch of things Vaati omits.
Yeah we for sure want to check out some boss fights. Not sure we would play all souls series or even Dark Souls games so don’t mind checking out some from the first game 😅
The lore and stories in the Dark Souls series are amazing and they will make you tear up a bit sometimes....that final boss in the game will break you emotionally when you realize who it is.
If you're afraid of difficulty, don't be ashamed of summoning viewers or randos. The Dark Souls community gladly helps you out! (Same goes for other FromSoftware games, say Elden Ring) No pride lost PS: The RU-vid Series your looking for, and I fully stand behind, is "Prepare to Cry" by VaatiVidya
Finally they react to one of my favorite games of all time🤩 Edit: Wait, they didn't reacted to the Launch trailer!!?? Its basically the best besides the DLC ones😭
Prepare to cry, is a good selection of videos to react too when it comes to Dark souls, It shows well the melancholic nature of this world and it's lore.
Yeah..Yhorm sent me shivers down the spine when the narrating voice said "Yhorm the giant" and this absolute massive fella gets up slowly, embering himself up
7:01 Fun fact about Yhorm the Giant: the scream he makes when he wakes up is a scream of despair and hopelessness, as he actually wanted to be dead, he was known as the "reclusive lord of the Profaned Capital", he was the first ever Giant king, and the people of his kingdom (comprised mainly and only of humans) hated him because he was a Giant, he was selfless, kind, and used a massive shield and cleaver to protect his troops in battle, and he would lay down his life for them, until the profaned fire fell from the sky and ravaged his city, he watched his population burn to death and disappear, as his last wish, he asked his closest and only friend to put him to rest in case he was revived as a Lord of Cinder. "Yhorm, old friend... I have come to uphold a promise. *Let the sun shine upon this Lord of Cinder!"*
That giant Nazgul with a big-ass cleaver is Yhorm The Giant the king of the Profaned Capital. He's a literal one-man army for a kingdom that hated him.
Dark Souls as a series has amazing athmosphere. There's a lot of games in which you are trying to stop the apocalypse, or are playing in a post-apocaliptic environment, but not many that let you experience the apocalypse as it's happening. And not one that you can really prevent: it's not nukes or eldritch horrors, it is a cosmic event, the stuff that myths are made of.
Dark Souls 3 depicts a world at its end where all that was good has been turned to ash and the fire (the power which inadvertently corrupted it all) is fading. All that is left is a world trying desperately to hold on to the embers of what it once was. The world persists by having the strongest being sacrifice themselves as "kindling" to the fire. Those Lords of cinder you saw are all previous champions who have already done this but as the world grew weaker (and as the next champion refused to continue the cycle) there was no one left to kindle the flame. Thus the bell tolled, awakening the lords of cinder as a last resort, to sacrifice themselves again, but they abandoned their thrones an their duties. Some became saddened to see what has become of the world that they sacrificed to protect. Others have been driven completely mad by the darkness, and fight for control within themselves. This is where you the player come in, you are an unkindled one, a nameless warrior who have not yet been driven mad by the darkness but who has the potential to become strong and become kindling atop the pyre. You go on a journey to defeat and reclaim the lost strength from all the lords of cinder and at the end you are faced with different paths to choose: You can choose to sacrifice yourself to let this world continue or you can choose to let the flame fade and let this husk of a world die in the hopes that a new world might eventually be born. It is a really sad and grimdark end to a world. To think every powerful enemy that you have faced, every small piece of beauty that you have seen. All of it less than a shadow of what it once was. Are you going to let the world continue until even the illusion of purity is destroyed and defiled?, or do you realize that the world has far passed the point of having a dignified end.
You're talking about the Vaatividya series 'Prepare to cry' wherin he accounts the emotional stories from dark souls in a more digestible format. But Vaati has loads of lore vids, and if you do any of them in contractually obligated to recommend the video on Artorias, the wolf knight. Also, meat cleaver Nazghul is named Yhorm (pronounced Yorm) the giant. The whole fire thing with him is because he's what's known as a lord of cinder.
If you are interested in the Souls series I would highly recommend trying it out and giving it a solid chance for you to play and get good. You’ll hear “get good” tossed around a lot in the community but really that is what the game is about and anyone can get good. All the enemies have patterns to their attacks, weaknesses in their defenses and it’s up to you to take a moment, analyze them and figure out a counter. It’s all muscle memory. The difficulty shouldn’t scare you cause it being hard is a core theme of Miyazaki’s world. The core theme being the human’s ability to face frustration or despair and have the will to push themselves through. Doesn’t matter how many times you have to hit the wall cause in the end all that matters is the wall came down and the harder it was the more satisfying it is when you finally do bust through those bricks. And trust me the wall *will* eventually come down. Dark Souls 2 actually had a gameplay mechanic that represented this part of the world/lore. In lore an undead has their conscious mind but it’s when they lose all hope and fall to despair that the become “Hollow” and become zombies that just attack anything on sight. In Dark Souls 2 if you quit the game for a certain amount of time you’d log into your save to find your character is now Hollow because you lost hope and gave up on the game. One of my favorite features honestly. The game definitely isn’t there to hold your hand and I know these difficulty comments probably sound counter intuitive to selling it to someone whole is worried about not being good enough but the reality is no one who played these games was good enough when they started but they learn and that’s the whole point. I think everyone who is a fan can agree that it is one of the most satisfying games to beat since it’s a literal game representation of conquering your own frustration and adversity. I really do hope you guys play this series. If not on stream then just for your own private experience. And if you are super worried about difficulty, Elden Ring is most modern of the series and while many would say it’s updated mechanics give it a slight new level of challenge, it’s open world aspect actually makes a large portion of the game a lot easier as you can avoid and explore at your own pace instead of following a mostly linear but still incredibly built world like the previous games. PS: Last thing, if you’re worried about playing them out of order you don’t have to be. Most people who’ve played all the previous games finished them not understanding what happened. These are worlds broken and forgotten to its own history. You’re just fighting through the last remnants of it’s chard ashes.
'The Ashen Hollow' made a great one and a half hour long 'Complete Story of the Dark Souls Trilogy' video. About 2/3 is Dark Souls 1 and 2 if you want to catch up on everything until Dark Souls 3.
I'm a 28 year old woman with 0 reflexes and not that much free time. But I LOVE the Dark Souls series. I've finished Dark Souls 1 and 3, and I'm currently playing Elden Ring. So it's definitely playable by anyone who wants to play it, so don't be afraid to try it. I would recommend though starting with Dark Souls 1 and 3, and not starting with Elden Ring. Elden Ring is an open world game and it's easy to get lost and not know where to go next, and while DS1 and DS3 are pretty open, they're still linear games and teach the basics of combat pretty well. The games might not look like it at first, but there's a lot of lore hidden. There are pretty good videos like from the channel "The brother's code", but they're long (2-4 hours long for each game), although they cover most of the main storyline. VaatiVidya has a really cool series of shorter videos called "Prepare to Cry" that feature stories of individual character from the games, most of them pretty tragic. I would recommend starting with Artorias, link to video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ag60ZF-IdKk.html .
From soft has literally made banger after banger after banger. demon souls, dark souls 1,2,3 bloodborne, sekiro, Elden ring and now the newest armored core man. FromSoft under Miyazaki’s leadership will always be the best in the business hands down.
Dark souls is such an incredible piece of media. Through video game it shows how much potentials lies here. You can tell an incredible story, create a entire world like in a fantasy novel but make it interactive. You can add amazing soundtrack, visual, 3D modeling. It's probably the best ad for video game in general. You can create everything, make it believable, make it than entire generation that plays it, remembers it for a lifetime. Video games, as a medium, is still at its beginning. It's going to be the most insane thing entertainment as ever known in the future.
Ok, I’ve not played any other Souls game but DS3 has been one of the best gaming experience of my life. Just the entire feel of “I died because I’m not good enough” and not because of an in game bug is fantastic to me. And then discovering some secret that might lead to even more secrets or finally beating that boss you took 3 hours attempting is a fulfilment I wish I could replicate when replaying again. And with the lore, half the fun is trying to piece together what in the dark souls is going on. Probably is best to watch a recap of ds1/2 lore if you want to play 3 but knowing the lore won’t spoil your experience with the gameplay in my opinion.
Dark Souls will forever remain among my most favorite games and I strongly suggest to just try them. It might be difficult to get into it but that's part of the game. Finding challenge, adapting and finally overcoming each and every hurdle.
So there have been some updates in Warcraft videos, I'll add them to the last message. Hey folks, there is a bunch of reactions from Warcraft universe for you. So: Wrath of the Lich King Classic: [servers of older expansions with the same experience like it was years ago] "Journey Trailer" it's made by one of the community members, you already saw some of his work, now he teamed up with Blizzard and made official trailer for them. It is pretty cool. "Lore in Short - Arthas Menethil" it's the story you already know but it is read by Laura Bailey aka voice of Jaina so I'm sure Bethany will like it. :D WoW Retail: [aka the main one] "Legacies" chapters 1, 2 and 3 are out unlike other "animated shorts" these ones are connected together bringing a little hype and info for Dragonflight which launches this month. UPDATE: New cinematic "Take to the Skies" and a short video about the new race/class combo. Both on Blizzard channel. Hearthstone: You still did not react [at least to my knowledge] to "Hearth and Home" which is nicely animated short [almost 6 mins long] for the game "March of the Lich KIng" is the trailer for the newest expansion bringing Death Knight class, it is short [little longer than 1 minute] but it has an amazing animation I wish Blizzard would make a show in that style to rival Arcane or something. UPDATE: Outside official stuff, there is new Deathbattle between Sauron and Lich King [aka Arthas] if you guys want to react to it on your second channel. And that's about it, when Dragonflight launches there will probably plenty of cutscenes and cinematics to react to, anyway thanks for what you do guys! Take care.
The Soul Series. Yes they are frustrating, they are unforgiving, and... even if a lot of people act a liiittle over the top about them, it is true that starting in them is always frustrating, until you get the hang of it, but it is a looong way. The thing is, its up to you to accept the challenge.
Try 'em! It's the kind of thing where you start out thinking oh my god, this is so difficult, how can I ever get through an entire game like this? At your first time. And then you learn, and you get it, and you start doing well, and it feels amazing. They're exploration / find the story type storytelling games, which works great for them. Item placement, the names of things, the location of things, the descriptions, and the context inform the story. If you do play Dark Souls though, I'd recommend playing them in order because of the full impact of the story. Dark Souls 1 is the beginning, Dark souls 2 is the middle, and Dark souls 3 is the ending. 2 can be skipped if necessary. The series takes place over... untold eons. When I say 1 is the beginning, I mean the very beginning. Each player character has a title rather than a name: The Chosen Undead, the Bearer of the Curse, and the Champion of Ash. Dark Souls 3 is, in my opinion, as perfect an ending as there can be to a series. After the years of build up, playing the games, examining every part of them for lore and finally understanding what is going on, DS3 brought a satisfying conclusion.
Lol it's so different seeing these trailers years later when you know the FULL context & lore of everything being shown. And it's fun seeing new people react to them with amazement & confusion. Same with every other SoftSoftware trailer/opening cinematic.
Pencil in another vote for y’all to watch some of the Prepare to cry videos by Vaati. The production style has evolved a lot over the years but generally everything from Dks3 onwards has a consistent vision and execution. They’re all really good though.
These games are amazing and worth a shot! I highly recommend you start with DS1 but you can play them in any order you wish. There are amazing lore videos but they definitely hit harder if you've already played the games.
FromSoftware does lore in their games REALLY good. You get bits if from characters, the environments, but most importantly, EVERY SINGLE ITEM you pick up has a little bit lore attached to it explain the events/people/things in the world. There's whole channels dedicated to just explaining the lore of the world of their games to people who are interested like _Vaatividya,_ who is arguably the best. MatPat _The Video Game Theorist_ (who you reacted to once already, explaining the whole FNAF story) did a really great video explaining who YOUR customized character is in the Dark Souls 3 lore.
The song is called true colors. Its originally a Cyndi Lauper song but i don't know who is singing it here in the trailer because i don't think it was Cyndi Lauper singing. The voice is different.
Traditionally speaking, all of the Souls games (Demon's Souls up to Dark Souls 3) are traditional 'Dark Fantasy'. Elden Ring shoots for that same kind of things, but with a slight twist to it by lending more story off the front to the main entities without relying on a ton of context clues. That said, most of the bosses in the entire series (Minus Pinwheel from 1 and... 8 or 9 of the bosses from 2) have INCREDIBLE art to them, and are very unique from a bunch of the standard fare in how they're presented. I would say for sure that if you can handle difficult controls, it's worth playing at least 1-3 from Dark Souls. Demon's Souls is supposed to get an HD remaster soon, last I heard, as is Bloodborne. I will stand by the fact that you'll want your first experience to be with Dark Souls 1, as it sets the tone for all of the others. Lifelong Artorias fan. He's so well-designed.
You get a better understanding of what goes on in the big picture by playing the games in order. Then you develop a sense of references and further network of relations of things. You could still play them out of order and have a decent experience, but I myself got the most out of it in order especially when it came to the characters I should know of. Seeing all of DS1 and DLC made DS2 more interesting. Playing from that early on you'll also play a bit more chess to overcome your enemies. For that big of a feeling in strategy difference some would say the first two games were the best where as DS3 allows chugging flasks as a strategy whenever. Otherwise the most unique feeling of Dark Souls 3 is definitely the speed of everything and the feel of the overall art and animations of the game.
Souls games nailed the theme and created their own style with it, for example, in League of Legends you have the Ashen Knights skins, wich are "dark souls themed skins", mostly with Pyke, when he ults, each time he kills someone a chorus music like the ones in dark souls will start playing and its 10/10 hands down my fav skin in the game...now i have to GIT GUD using that champ...even that i have mastery 7 with it...yeah... xD
Dark Souls 3 is the first ever Souls game I played it was my favorite. I got up the level 102 and I beat all of the DLC before the final boss. It was fun and frustrating at the same time.
Hello! I just wanted to suggest you react to a series called ,, how it feels to play a class in tf2" They are really funny and the animator (Lazypurple) is incredibly talented(and burned out). There is one for each class and they show what its like to play them:-) Love your videos! (Ps: this is reposted)
Elden Ring was my first entry into the Dark Souls series, but i've heard say that ER, while difficult, is ultimately "easier" than the first dark souls games
I use to think I'd never play any of the Soulsborne games because of their difficulty. Then I picked up Bloodborne on sale purely because I adored the esthetic of the game and I figured if I couldn't beat it I was only out like $10. I adored it and beat it. I have now gone back and I'm working through the Dark Souls trilogy (and Elden Ring) and I'm really enjoying them. Yes the games are difficult but are nowhere as cruel as their reputation, and the Get Gud memes, make you think they are. They're punishing and you do have to work for it but they are designed to help you on your journey if you pay attention to all the mechanics they give you (types of builds, summoning npcs or other players, manipulating AI). You can of course make the experience harder by ignoring mechanics, which is what some people say you should do for the "true" Dark Souls experience, but I'm of the mind that FromSoft gives you those tools so why not use them? Honestly if you want to try out these types of games I highly recommend Elden Ring since it is the most forgiving of the games.
A amazing game series that tells an amazing story and some of the best voice acting you'll hear from a video game is The Legacy Of Kain franchise. The games are Blood Omen - The Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver Soul Reaver 2 The Legacy of Kain Defiance The Legacy of Kain - Blood Omen 2. These are older games from the late 90'S to the early 2000's so the graphics that great compared to modern times but the story is behind the games are freaking amazing. You should really check it out.
oo dark souls stuff! gotta love the series its challenging but the series story being basically a era of trying to retain the past is so good. a series of fleeting hope to a more grim and unpredictable future. its a series thats a play on the transition between the golden age to the dark ages. but more fantasy.also i reccomend if yall do play it, come in with a game plan for everything. and dont get greedy in fights, all there games have that idea.
I'm also of the thought anybody can finish these games. I went from not caring about the souls games to getting 100% in all of them within a few years. The only downside is the community is so passionate that it genuinely wants new players to succeed and experience the meat of the game. So there's even more backseat stream advice than usual. If y'all ever do try 'em, Dark Souls 3 is probably the best one to start with. It's difficult, but onboards the player best.
Hi, Great video as always. If you want to play DS serie, I really recommend going from Dark Souls 1. I am not very good in this type of games either (Sometimes slow reflections, or too fast reflections, or just timing it right, but jumping INTO enemy attack instead of out of harm :D), But I finished DS1 and 2 with 100% Steam Achieves starting as Deprived (or its equivalent in DS1 - the lowest starting level and equipment) (Did not got to the rest so far, but they are on the list), and with a bit of patience and Soul farming (Souls are both as XP and Money in those games), you can beat New game (and even NG+) relatively easily. Also there are very good wiki pages with everything, and even maps of every location with all items, if you need some help. Also there are many ways to build your character (and with enough farming, you can max EVERY STAT and use everything), but mine well tested strategy is "Hoplite", that is spear type weapon and shield with 100% resistance of normal attacks (this works almost on every normal enemy in both games), and it works on some bosses too (the rest have usually more than 1 way to defeat, usually magic or 2h weapons). Just keep in mind that if you want to 100% complete at least New game (explore everything, get every item etc.), it can take well over 40h if you farm souls (even 100h+ with farming or loosing your souls a lot), enjoy the environment (Anor Londo, Majula...), so maybe you will do some off-screen farming, and focuson story progression if you will stream it :) Anyway good luck with GoW 4 :)
"What leads you? You sacrifice everything without a trace to help others. It's a pathetic sight, you can't even help yourself. Is your sense of duty leading you? Religion? Hidden knowledge or blind revenge? And even when the gods, frightened, abandoned their post, you will continue to go....abandoned, forgotten, but eternally confident."
Dark Souls 3 is the distant future to the first game. The idea is that in DS1 the cycle of the flame begins, DS2 is one of those innumerable cycles where DS1 is already a time lost in myth and DS3 is the end of the cycle where only embers remain. Everything that could burn has already burned, it is the final cycle and its last throes. That's why the first image is a ruined kingdom half buried under ash, because that's what's left, ruins and ash. That's why the game is even more desolate and apocalyptic than usual. It is also the only game where the protagonist is not a Hollow. The trailers are very well done, they make the lords of cinder look impressive even though all they do is get up. I won't go into details but suffice it to say that if the first game was already post-apocalyptic, the third is the final post-apocalypse after literally burning the entire world to keep the light going a little longer. The best example is one of the levels of the DLC The Ringed City which is basically a descent into a pile of ruins the size of a nation or maybe a continent, the first layers are from DS3 locations, then from DS2 and finally, at bottom of the stack the ruins of DS1. The soul they speak of is the literal Dark soul of the title, which resides in humanity transmitted to them by the Furtive Pygmy one of the original Lords, mentioned in DS1 but never seen in any of the games. Possibly the last remnant of the primordial flame that the lords find in the introductory narration of DS1.
I'd recommend trying them, Elden Ring isn't a bad start thanks to it's open world which allows you to increase your might, be it levels, items, or other ways while being stuck at a boss. Plus it's multiplayer so that's always nice, either playing it together or with your stream, or solo of course. (But multiplayer in my opinion is the ultimate "safeguard". Anyone can win with a good teammate for example.) Ironically God of War 2018 shares many similarities to them in gameplay to a degree. The games have a learning curve absolutely, and that learning curve is where the 'idea' of this mythical difficulty comes from. But Vergil from DMC for example is tougher than the vast majority of souls bosses. It's just a different 'kind' of game. And honestly there is no other game that you can make so easy vs so difficult on yourself than them through player choice rather than just settings. From literally one shotting bosses to playing it naked at level 1. It'd certainly be fun to watch, but I understand it being intimidating as the marketing is all "you will die." which you will, but death is as much a mechanic as anything else is. It's not just a 'failure state' like in other games, for example, self delete runs exist, where you rush to get an item or spell early knowing you'll die due to the power of the area, but being quick enough to grab it before death. As you keep your items on death, unlike most checkpoints in most games. Be careful though, the souls games rabbit hole is vast, and once you let yourself fall into it, there's no going back.
Honestly, you can start with whichever game you want. The older ones are slower and more methodical, while the newer ones are much faster. I'd personally reccomend starting with Dark Souls 1 or Elden Ring.
You can play each dark souls game separately. But you will be rewarded more for playing in order in terms of storyline. Really more nostalgia then you need to know.
Elden ring is probably the best game to start with since if you're stuck on one boss or area you can easily go somewhere else to get stronger before coming back. I also think that it was easier to piece together the lore of elden ring than it is for other fromsoft games.
Ah the ring city the only area where players can defeat the boss to then become the boss for other players so much fun tbh also that dragon at the end in the ring city is every dark souls players pain 😅 has the most health out of all the bosses if i remember correctly the last 2 trailers being 2 dlc content that are definitely worth the time if you like the main game best to do those two areas before doing the final main boss otherwise you'll have to do the entire game again at end game+ which is pretty much the bosses and enemies get even more difficult as access to the 1 of the dlcs is in one location and the other is located right next to where you enter/spawn before going up to the final main boss
The Dark Souls ambiance and lore is so deep and intricate. Should playing the series not happen for a while, it is still very much worth it to dive into its story -- rich but also very ambiguous. Also, I like when you both are goofy! ;P
my victory to the abyss watchers was so close and I think I was one of the best fights of the game. Nameless king... that was HARD but the hardest is midir (for me) only boss I cannot beat in all of DS saga
You guys should react to the Dragonflight launch cinematic, Take To The Skies on the World of Warcraft RU-vid channel. You should also react to Dragonflight Legacies, there are 3 episodes and they are on the WoW RU-vid channel. They are like the Shadowlands Afterlives/Warbringers/Lords of War style animated shorts for the upcoming WoW expansion. Also, you guys should react to the Dragonflight pre-patch cinematic, Razsageth’s Escape and the Tempest Unleashed. It’s on the Wowhead RU-vid channel.
Dark Souls has a pretty complex way of story telling. Its not like someone is guiding you and you have a story teller, not at all. You are thrown in and fight. The Story is being told through the World, the atmosphiere and the Boss desgins. The Bosses dont just look cool, but their desgin is choise they made that tells a story. If you are interessted in the Disgin of the Bosses and their Story telling, i can highly recommen you TB skyen to watch (in Private if you want, since his Videos for every single Boss is about an hour), he figures out the Story just based on the Boss desgin and its surrondings, and makes very interessting connection to the real world. Especially DK1 he did make a very good job of it.
