Hey friends! We spent a year away from ACE and we are so excited to go back this coming year. My oldest 3 kids have tested, gotten everything ordered and in the file cabinet. My oldest will be using ACE middle school art,plus Latin from Memoria Press. We have ordered the Learn Math Fast system to try this coming year,just to have one thing different from ACE. (What can I say, I'm a teensy rebel😂) I have a video on 6 reasons we are returning to ACE, go ahead and check it out! May God bless you on your homeschooling journey! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c3NGf16ieco.html

I’m 34 and I was homeschooled on ACE until 7th grade. I absolutely loved the program. I’m making the decision to homeschool my children and I am so happy this curriculum is still available, and it’s the same as I remember. The KJV Bible study packet is what skyrocketed my language skills and development. If one can read and understand KJV, one can read and understand almost any kind of literature.

That's always so wonderful to hear! We have set aside ACE Bible and Literature & Creative Writing, but I'd like to go back to doing the Bible at some point, at least a little. We're halfway through the year so far, taking a break, and I'm always so surprised and pleased when my children connect something we're talking about to something they're learning in the Paces. It has taken a huge burden off of me to "cover everything." Blessings on your homeschool journey!

Thank you so much. I'm crying because when you were talking about meeting them where they are, and the new HS mama anxiety about that, it hit the nail on the head. My youngest has been struggling, but I watch him eventually understand it...but only after someone else tells him he's failed. I love this curriculum! I ordered the English and Math for my 7 year old daughter. It's only been about 1 month, but I think we will be ordering the rest of the subjects as well. I didn't do the placement testing. I just previewed each one and went from there. I feel like she is where she needs to be. I love that they learn scripture in every pace, and I love the character traits in every pace. This video hit home for me in so many ways! I have two grown children whom both went to public school until they graduated. I just began homeschooling my 7 year old about a year ago. But, I feel like I am always concerned about her grade level, or how she is progressing, or not..I don't want to be that type of mom. But, it's hard to get out of that mindset when you are so used to it. So its sort of like, I need to be de-schooled! This video really helped me to refocus my attention on progression, but not worrying about grade level etc. SO thank you for that:)

I am always on the look out for ACE videos and I came across yours. I'm glad. I've been using ACE for 3 years with my daughter and 1 year with my sons (including one with special needs). I have found the same things that you have about your children working at their level. ACE is perfect for allowing the child to process at their own pace whether fast or slow. ACE has been a winner for our family and I am glad to see that it is for your family too.

My son will start ACE this coming school year, I have a question, how do you Test your child to know what grade to put them in? I kinda sense my son will be in for instance Math a 4th grade but Reading 5th grade. He's in 5th grade public and hates it, so we decided to go ACE route. God bless

Hello! I’m new to your channel! I found it while looking up ACE curriculum! My daughter is doing virtual school this year and I noticed she is struggling with Math! I thought of ordering ACE math paces to help her work through. I noticed you said you used something else for Math. Is there something wrong with the ACE math paces? Or is it just because of the price and simplified grading (which you mentioned in the video )I just don’t want to order something and realize I made a mistake further down the road. I’d love some input if you feel another math program would be more beneficial. Thanks!

Hello and welcome!❤️ We were using a different math before we started ACE the 1st time, and because it's a subscription program, I stuck with it. 2 of my children have tried ACE math and didn't care for it. If you want to try it, I would test your daughter and then order just one or 2 paces for her to try. That will give you both a really good feel whether it will work for her. I believe each pace focuses on mastering 2-3 skills. My 2nd grade son was ok with the 1st half of his first math pace, but was in tears on the 2nd half so we went back to the curriculum we had already been using. We like Ctcmath because of the short lessons and question sets, and if the student wants to do more, they can or not. Plus it's a nice change from the format of the paces for 1 subject. I'm part of several ACE Facebook groups and MANY people absolutely love ACE math, both graduates and homeschool parents, so I know it's a great program. You have to do what works for your own family!❤️

I liked those things about PACEs too. Even when we switched it up to other curriculums, we continued to not emphasize "grade level" at all. We also continued the mastery way of doing things, of only continuing on if they score 80% or above on the checkups and tests. It only makes sense.

I'm a new HS Momma. I just withdrew my daughter and she's entering 3rd grade this year. The options are overwhelming to choose from. As a single Mom who works this is daunting. My daughter had an IEP in place for dyslexia at her school but due to intense years of bullying and low academic performance and our faith, the Lord has placed it heavy upon me to pull her out of the public school system. I'm really needing something to help record keep (like online) but also that has workbooks like this. I can combine I know but it gets so expensive. It's only her (1 child) so it shouldn't be too bad to record keep. But do you have any recommendations? I don't have time to lesson plan and I need at least for this first year to be convenient. Thanks!!!
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 2 года назад
There are now E-paces if you really want to use ACE. There are also online options like Time4Learning. I don't know what state you're in, so I don't know your requirements for reporting, but with a child like yours, and at her age, if you don't have to keep scores or grade her, I think that would be better. Look into audiobooks, project-based learning, etc. Being dyslexic, I don't know if the Paces would be the best choice for her. Possibly more video and audio based learning, and she can show her work by typing a paragraph (utilizing spell check) or talk-to-text, or drawing pictures or telling you about what she learned orally. My heart goes out to you! Do you know any homeschoolers in your area who you can get some mentoring from? I would find groups in your area and ask for help and ideas from veteran homeschoolers who have walked in your shoes and navigated the requirements, especially in your state. Here in Texas we don't have to report to anyone, so we have a ton of freedom of how to impart information and learning. My kids mostly drive their own learning and I support them.
@ATZCMinistries
@ATZCMinistries 2 года назад
@@mycupoverflows7811 Thank you! I live in TX as well :) Her dyslexia is on the lower end and not as severe, but she super struggles in math. Like she is still not grasping the basic addition and subtraction. The school refused to help her in math saying her testing scores didn't "scale" her in needing help in that area and said she is guessing at the answers b/c she was feeling overwhelmed. I'm just wanting to have an online program that will record keep her daily work/time for report card/transcript purposes in case she wants to go to college, that's what I mean about reporting. I'm a member of the HSLDA and know we don't have to report in TX as far as homeschooling goes. I am so overwhelmed at all the choices and online curriculum is expensive and actual workbook curriculum is as well, so it's hard to know what to choose! I really appreciate all of your advice and input 😊

I usually compare prices for the reading books on several different sites. My favorite is thriftbooks because after I earn a certain number of points I get a free book. You could definitely order through ACE ministries. We have stopped using the Literature and Creative Writing and I usually have my kids read a book that goes along with the social studies or a biography of their choice from our shelves. My kids are mostly in charge of their own schedules. This coming year the children using ACE materials will be ages 13, 12, & 9. With the 9yo I'll be working with him to make his goals and showing him how to score his paces. The older kids can do school whenever they want, as long as they get it done and complete it by the end of the school year (or don't mind doing a little work through the summer). I'm very easygoing with it, but I do check in and ask them if they've done schoolwork for the day if I see them sitting in front of the TV with siblings whom I know have completed their work. Hope this helps!!

I'm amping up to homeschool my son. He is in public school in 5th grade. What I've noticed is that his English language Arts went from an 84 in Marking Period 2 to a 48 in Marking Period 3. All this due to "incomplete" work. My son is very ADHD and I have filed for a 504 plan for him. It seems they are NOT following the guidelines of request and allotted extra time are not being followed! I sent the teacher an email and got no reply. I'm really curious to see about relaxing the stress on him and easing up to tempo it all with him.

My youngest son has ADD/ADHD and OCD. This year was the first time we have homeschooled. We only used pace for electives so far. We are using Time4learning currently but so far I have seen a dramatic improvement in his perseverance, courage, creativity, behavior, handwriting....with Covid being discussed constantly he was even more distracted in public schools because of his OCD. He had an IEP plan also but when his mind was on washing his hands even more than it already was....he couldn't think about math, or what he was reading or science. Next year we are going with almost completely PACE. I just can't get over the changes in my son being home, away from the constant drama in the world right now...just being schooled and being a kid. I SO wish I had the confidence to do this a long time ago. I wanted to so bad but my son's raw, chapped hands told me it was time. My son got flustered once as we were beginning this year. He was crying becuase he got something wrong a couple times. It was almost like he was panicking. I told him you have no body to catch up to. You will not be left behind becuase you are the race. Take your time. Make mistakes. We do this at your pace (ironically I knew nothing about PACE then 😆). It was as if a light bulb went off in his brain when I said that. He still struggles and gets frustrated but his perseverance has drastically improved becuase he's not worried about the class going on before he can get it. I think you'll see the same thing with your child. There are rough days but there are more easy days I think with homeschooling than trying to get my kid to do public school homework.

Is all the curriculum with ACE in KJV? Or do you get to choose? Or would you need to add in other curriculum in order to have a different bible version?
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 4 года назад
Yes, everything is KJV. We will be going back to ACE next year after doing something else, and my kids have requested we not use ACE's Bible curriculum. They all own NAS and ESV, so I'll be having them simply read a chapter a day and write a couple of thoughts. All of the verses memorized in each Pace are also in KJV, so you could have the child look up your preferred version and memorize that instead. Hope this helps!

My daughter (3rd grade-going into 4th grade soon) tested into 6th grade word building. What level do you think I should put her into for word building 5? or 6? She has been reading A LOT this year so I know that has helped her.
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 2 года назад
I would stay with 5. I believe WB has a lot of cursive instruction in level 3&4, so you'll need to supplement if you skip those levels (if you want her to learn cursive). Hope y'all enjoy!

I just want to let you know that my daughter going into 3rd tested into 4th WB and I started her on it and it was too difficult for her. So just be sensitive to her. I moved my daughter to level 3 and it was perfect for her.

@@mycupoverflows7811 Thanks so much for your reply. I had emailed the company and she replied back that my daughter should start at 4th grade because not only spelling is taught (she was probably talking about the cursive you mentioned). I already have a cursive handwriting program purchased for next year, so I think I'll go with my gut and stick with 5th grade :)

Why did you switch from Cle to ace? We use some cle.
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 Год назад
I still use CLE for K-1st (mostly because I have the materials, I'm familiar with it, and I feel it's thorough, although I usually slow 1st down over 2 years). I felt that the 2nd grade language arts was developmentally inappropriate for my children. They were supposed to be writing reports, and my oldest was in tears. Also the lesson length is clearly defined in CLE. With ACE, the student and parent can define the lesson length. Some days they may just do one or two pages, another day they could knock out 8. With ACE, the elementary years are designed to feel easy and build the child's confidence and enjoyment. With CLE school was a depressing chore. With ACE, there's a little story and characters. The older years gently and gradually become much more rigorous. I hope this helps. If CLE is working for you, keep it up! It's a solid, inexpensive program and I love supporting the Mennonite community.

Hi, can I ask how many pages did you write for your exemption letter and how long did it take to receive the exemption? I'm just starting mine.
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 5 лет назад
Hi NZ Girl, I'm not totally sure what an exemption is, maybe your paperwork for applying to homeschool? Here in Texas we fortunately have very lax requirements for homeschooling. We aren't required to report to anyone, and are merely instructed to teach the 3 Rs, citizenship and a year of Texas history. I'm assuming you're in New Zealand. I follow an unschooler there, her channel is Lulastic Hippyshake. Maybe you could ask her your question? God bless and I hope you get the answers you need! ❤️
@nzgirl4685

In NZ we need to apply for a homeschool exemption certificate if a child is aged 6-16 they are legally required to be in school unless you write a letter to the ministry of education and get the certificate. Thanks I will ask her.

Do you guys have the a, c and e privilege system? If so can we have a video about that please? Thank you

@mycupoverflows7811 11 месяцев назад
I'm sorry, we don't use that system. I'm unfamiliar with it, and I prefer not to have the chores and rewards in our home tied to schoolwork/curriculum, because we don't use ACE exclusively all the time. . Andrea Mills had some videos where she shared how she used the privilege system in their home. Thank you for your comment!!

I am in Nigeria. Just got to know about ACE and saw Ur channel. I would love to start using the ACE curriculum but the curriculum and cost looks overwhelming. My oldest child is 6yo, loves to do maths and can read reasonably. Please what would be your counsel? Thanks

You should contact ACE ministries and ask for their help. They were created for missionary families and very small private schools all over the world, so I'm sure they would have some sort of connection or advice for you in your country. God bless!

You can purchase this curriculum through ACE ministries website, Christianbook.com, or Curriculum Express. I usually wait for coupons and compare prices and combine with free shipping.

Where do you get them tested?
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 Год назад
www.acediagnostictest.com/diagnostictest/ You can create a free family profile and test each child. Be sure to read all the instructions. I usually limit testing time to an hour a day and do it over a week or 2. (We have left and returned to ACE several times and we've done the diagnostic testing a lot lol) I usually sit next to them and if I know they know a concept, I reword it into a way we've learned it before. I also take notes so I can go over things that confuse them. You don't have to do that at all, just sit them down and go. Just telling you what I've found helpful. ☺️ If you need anything else, call ACE headquarters. They're incredibly nice and helpful in my experience. And I hate talking on the phone lol!

I'm still praying about next year. I'd like to move toward doing some subjects together, maybe science and history. And adding in a language and art studies. I'm not sure at this point. My daughter will be in 7th grade next year and I'm definitely going to have her do the Texas history Paces.

Why not use ace math
@mycupoverflows7811
@mycupoverflows7811 3 года назад
We've tried it twice with 2 different children and it's just not for us. If you're a homeschooler, you can understand that not every family or child learns the same way, and there are tons of great math curricula to choose from. The question should be "Why not find and use what actually works for my child?" 😁

my biggest complaint is that sometimes they don't explain stuff like in one of my Math PACEs They had me make a budget without explaining how to make a budget and also Ace was kind of too perfect I wanted a relatable character who messed up but knew God still loved him after that but no they had to make a Jesus like character so yeah those are my biggest complaints other than that I LOVED the PACEs and miss them

We do! My 13 & 9yos have requested to continue with it, and my 12yo is using it for science and social studies this upcoming year. My 15yo is doing something different for high school, but she used ACE biology and plans to attempt to CLEP biology in a month or 2.
