A lil tidbit about Donghun’s performance for the 2 vs 2. Donghun said that he was really sick during the taping of that performance. He was so sick that he had to go to the hospital afterwards to get IV infusion. The fact that he was able to sing like that while sick, is such a testament on how good he is and how dedicated he is
While I totally agree that the 75 score was wild, I feel like it might actually work out in Donghun's favor. There are so many people outraged by it that I feel like the danger of him getting eliminated will have viewers more invested in voting for him rather than getting complacent and just assuming he's safe. It's not a bad way to get casual fans more invested. RBF people unite! I'm a total introvert so I'm totally ok with strangers not wanting to strike up random conversations with me. The only place that I've ever visited where people apparently did not feel the same way was Korea; I traveled there during my mid-twenties, and the amount of grandmas that randomly stopped me to pinch my cheeks was wild (it was also accompanied by a sentence or two, but with the language barrier.... 🤔). It happened at least once a day. Speaking of their variety stuff, I feel like Donghun really shone during Kang on Box. It felt like he was more comfortable working with their staff because they were just so sassy with each other; the random ones from Fact in Star is a close second. The part change videos are some of my favorite content from them; I love chaos (Wow is automatically my bias in all of these--I don't need to even see it yet to know 🤣) but I'm also not terribly observant so these "What You Didn't Notice" videos gets me to appreciate the other 80% of the chaos that I missed.

I agree. Im also going to be keeping my eyes on Jaehwan. Sure, he may have a preference, but a judge should be objective. We know it can be done because Seokhoon did it in round 1 with Jeup. But let's play devil's advocate for a moment: let's say Donghun's singing that day was off. That’s entirely possible because he was quite ill. Let's say he did put a little something extra on it to make up for his condition being bad, and Jaehwan picked up on it and didn't like it. Fine.Even allowing for those things, I have two issues with Jaehwan's assessment. One, saying that Donghun’s delivery of a deeply emotional song was "too emotional therefore I didn't feel it" and two, giving it a 75. A 75 is what you give to a capable person who flubbed the lyrics or hit a note poorly. It's the score you give if someone makes a noticeable mistake. That's not what happened. Donghun sang beautifully, delivered on his parts, and his emotion fit the song, so now I'm questioning Jaehwan's fitness as a judge. I am also waiting for Donghun to flip it and show his versatility. Im sure it'll shock everyone because he's already been pigeon-holed.
Totally agree with you! I get if he didn’t “feel the performance” we all have our own preferences but yea that low of a score should’ve been reserved for an actual screw up in the performance. I think whether you’re Donghun bias or just watching for fun or for someone else you can still see that low of a score was ridiculous. Donghun rock era let’s go! 🥰
Omg, you mentioned Jaehwan...so I just need to rant a bit now. It just so happens that I really love Jaehwan's voice...so I've been buying his albums recently. And I just bought three different versions of his newest album that arrived to me after I watched the last episode of Build Up. Now, his albums are lying on my shelf...unopened...which is something that never happened to me before. If I get an album, I open it right away because I can't wait. But I was just so disappointed in Jaehwan because I'm a Choice and Donghun is my bias. Now, everyone has a right to their own opinion, of course. And if I could find any kind of validation in Jaehwan's words or if it even made the slightest sense to me, I could of course respect his choice as a judge even if I didn't like it. But what he said, the reason he gave for that poor excuse of a score, does not make any sense to me. The song they covered is meant to be sung very emotionally, and that's exactly what both of them did. And we know that Donghun excels at singing emotional songs, it's one of the reasons I love him so much. So yeah, since watching the last episode of Build Up, I haven't touched Jaehwan's albums even once because I'm so disappointed in him. Sorry for the long rant, but I just had to vent.
No I’m totally with you on the rant! Please rant away 😂 I was sending voice messages back and forth with my close choice friend because we were both so annoyed. Because same, I get he has his personal feeling but it still doesn’t excuse THAT low of a score. That low of a score should’ve been for a team that screwed up lyrics or had a voice crack or were off tune. But that wasn’t the case at all. Ah I’m sorry you’ve bought his albums and struggle to open them 😭 I’ve actually never heard him sing so I really don’t know how talented he is. We will see how he judges in future episodes 😅

Both of them did so well and didn't do any mistakes. So if he had given an 88 or 86 I could have understood it based on his personal opinion but 75 is just...well, it's a joke. I guess time will tell if I'll be able to get over it or if I'll wind up selling his albums, haha. I guess it depends on how he shows himself in future episodes. I'll admit that I'm probably WAAAAYYY to biased when it comes to Donghun, so his words legit were like a punch to my own guts. I hope Donghun really makes him eat his bad review in the coming episodes, lol.
@@kihyunsundercutandvoicekillsme you know what's funny about all of this? Had YG not screwed everyone over, Donghun would have debuted again and been Jaehwan's survival show seonbae. Jaehwan should know what a survival show is like, and understand that EVERY vocalist on Build Up is a more technically proficient or unique voice than he is. Just because he has a relatively successful solo career does not put him in a position to judge others. Even Seungkwan, who's way better than Jaehwan, was humble enough to acknowledge the skills on that stage.
@@tea_jayy Omg, you’re right. Donghun would totally have been his sunbaenim. Yes, Jaehwan should know better. I’m actually very grateful to Seungkwan and the other judges. They at least seem to really appreciate and acknowledge Donghun’s very special gift of fully immersing himself in a song and conveying the deepest emotions. So I’m very happy about that at least.
