Hi, there!this is Jermey McGuire. I’m, not a HVAC tech. One thing I’d do if I was a HVAC tech and had a no cooling call.” I would go check the amps on the blower motor and check the evaporator coil. And the capacitor on the blower motor, and clean the evaporator coil regardless and I also would clean the condenser coil.” And replace the blower motor if needed and check the wires leading to the thermostat. If needed I would replace the thermostat.” And I would check the fuses on the disconnect. And check the the contractor and capacitor and check the amps on the condense, that’s what I’d do if I was a HVAC tech. My priority will be getting the costumers air conditioner cooling again, I would go far and beyond the problem with the air conditioner not cooling. That’s my opinion!!
@zap_collection6511
@zap_collection6511 2 месяца назад
In a perfect world, every tech would be the same I'm sure. The problem is, if you're doing all that for free, you're gonna struggle financially. If you're do all that "extra" service WITHOUT customer approval, and you bill them for it at the end, you're gonna struggle financially. Repair and maintenance work of any kind is a really hard sell. The typical person doesn't have technical knowledge on how system works, and they're generally not interested in learning about it either. I'd say most people have some understanding of the basics, like cleaning the evaporator coils once a year, and changing the air filter every month or so. They know they're supposed to do that. But rather than perform those tasks as scheduled maintenance, BEFORE they cause an issue, most people don't do it until AFTER it's a problem. I'm guilty of that myself. My furnace is like 30 years old. It's a pain in the ass to clean my evap. The furnace leaks so bad I have to use caulking and metal tape to seal it up. So cleaning my evap also includes unwrapping the furnace, scraping off the caulking, reapplying, and adding more tape. It's a whole process. So I'll be honest, I only do it about once every 3 years. Because when that third summer comes around, the performance loss is noticeable. When it comes to systems used every day, most people (myself included) only care about one thing - does it work? If the system works, then it blends seamlessly into the background of life. That's the point of systems. You shouldn't HAVE to wonder whether or not they're going to work. That's why it's so easy to put off doing scheduled maintenance yourself, and why it's so hard to justify paying someone else to do it for you. Your ac is chugging along all summer, doing its thing, and you never even think about it until it cools slower, or stops cooling all together. A simpler analogy that anyone born before 2000 can relate to is a light switch. If the lights turn on when you flip the switch, you don't even "notice," you just continue going about whatever it was you were doing. But if you flip the switch and the bulb flashes and goes dark, it immediately disrupts what you were doing, and you start thinking about the bulb. It's an oversimplification of the idea, but that's why it's a good analogy. Lightbulbs are disposable, and back in the days of incandescents, people were well aware of their short lifespan. Even though people KNEW all the bulbs in their house would only last a couple months, nobody was going around replacing them every 90 days. No, you just wait til they fail, then you replace them. It's not until they finally burn out that you even ask yourself when you last changed them. Because it doesn't matter. Nowadays bulbs last for years. Most of my LED bulbs followed me from 3 different apartments, to the house I'm in now. Many of them are going on 7 years old now. This is probably the 3rd time in those 7 years I've ever questioned their age. So anyway, my point is that with systems, even ones with multiple different sub-sysyems (like ac systems with evaps, condensers, ducts, filters, pressure, etc), there are really only two things people care about. Does it work? Or Does is not work? If it doesn't work, THAT is the problem. If you replace a capacitor, and the system works again, then the problem is solved. Doesn't matter how dirty the coils are, doesn't matter how clogged the filter is, doesn't matter how weak the blower is. Because there isn't a problem anymore. Yes, all of those points ARE problems. But as long as the air is blowing cold, the customer will consider them as "extra" services. That's just how people are.

It’s tough to get people to spend money on hvac unless it’s an emergency, due to inflation. Extra money is gone on just getting by, it’s like twisting peoples arms to get them to do basic maintenance or recommendations. Our costs which are fair, seem that much more expensive when the budget is tight. But some people are cheap and don’t see the quality and value in our services. I do the same thing, it’s one cost to do a maintenance, which includes everything like you mentioned. It’s simple, honest and straightforward.

@normanwick3929
@normanwick3929 4 месяца назад
My current situation: Split System HVAC compressor and fan do not operate. Indoor unit and thermostat working properly. Capacitor is new. When I depress the plunger on the relay, they both start. There is no 24v to relay coil. Coil has continuity. Pressure switches have continuity. OF1 & OF2 has continuity. What's left? Could the HK32EA007 Board be bad?

So, oddly enough, I went to the outside unit to check voltages at the board with my DMM. As I checked power to Common at the T1 C C O connector, the Relay Coil energized and the AC has been running fine ever since. Not sure what happened to make it do that?
