Christians seem reluctant to admit any degree of innocence when it comes to the evil at work in the world. While we are to be "shrewd as serpents," we are also supposed to be "innocent as doves" (Matthew 10:16). This means that those who follow Christ should also strive to live innocent lives--ignorant of what is evil. This is a worthy pursuit for any believer; but it has particular ramifications for parents seeking to raise children. In this video Joel Biermann contends that adults should not spurn innocence and that children should be sheltered and kept innocent of the depth of evil in the world and educated about "the real world" as they mature in their Christian walk and face the hard challenges of the world from the security of a robust, and well-formed foundation.
