This is a comparison of water nozzels using CFD simulation. The purpose was to show case how CFD can be used for product design. It was created specifically for the ILMAC conference during my internship at Air Flow Consulting in Zurich. The geometry was created using Rhino, the meshing was generated by Harpoon, the simulation was performed using ANSYS CFX and the visualization was completed using Ensight. First the nozzles are rotated to show their different shapes. This is followed by streamlines colored by their velocity (Geschwindigkeit in German). Lastly, cross-sectional planes illustrate the distribution of the jet and any potential air entrainment with an isosurface representing the entire water jet. These are colored by the water volume fraction (Wasser Volumenanteil).
