Have this handheld , and the first thing you should do, is to replace those SD cards by cloning them ... then you will see a gigantic speed bump in all ... since both SD card have Reads of 15MB\s and Writes of 18MB\s ... replaced it with two cheap 256GB SDs from Kingston, that have 170MB\s Reads and 110MB\s Writes ... and the performance is from 2x to 3x in all games , not to mention the loading speeds are now near instant for all ...
There are new colours out now. I saw a solid red one on Ali Express yesterday. Transparent Orange has been out for a short while too. Transparent purple is the best one. Mine is in the country but with the long weekend, I probably won't get it until Tues or Wed. I ordered an M17 too - it was just so cheap on the last day of the Ali Express sale. $37 Canadian or about $27 US. Too good to pass up.
There are several videos on RU-vid where people do a simple mod to the buttons. the A,X and the B,Y buttons are connected via a piece of plastic so the modders cut hem loose. And the loosen 2 screws at the back of the PCB so de D-Pad is less stiff. I got this on Ali because it's cheap, got it with a very old build (2022 ArkOS version). There are also videos on what you need to backup from the current SD and where to get the latest image. After that get a USB-c to A adapter of cable because when it's updated you can also update via WiFi if you have a dongle. @Wicked, looking at 7:20 in this video, I can see you are on an old build as well. Maybe you could do an upgrade video for this one.
I am pleasantly surprised by how well this cheap little system emulates Dreamcast and PSP games. For the price, you get a lot of bang for your buck. It emulates those games as well as my Ryzen 5 Desktop. The Dreamcast emulator runs Resident Evil Code Veronica so smoothly, it's like owning a handheld DC. The only system that I have yet to test is the Saturn. The only problem that I have is that I have all of the roms I want, which equates to about 30,000 games, on a 512GB Samsung Evo Micro SD Card, and I still have 350GB of space left on it. I am wondering what I'm going to fill the rest of the card up with? I keep thinking that maybe I should have gone for 256GB instead, really? That's all you need.
Why ? He shows the main games that demand the most of the console, and are the benchmark for good emulation ... the only problem is the SD card talk ... He mentions those SD cards, and gives one reason for replacing them (aka corruption of data , low TBW)... but never mentions those also affect the Emulation Speeds ... like here , this device bumps the performance by 2x or 3x by simply replacing the SD cards
Actually playing the same games on every device gives a more realistic comparison between different chipsets. It’s the best thing to do, especially if you’re going to load the same exact rom files in them.
