Thanks for this. I have eight of the bessey clamps (caught them on sale for $30 each) and was curious about the powertec version, mainly because of the blue handles lol Bessey makes the clamps for festool; that's why they're so close. One thing I do prefer about the bessey version though, is the trigger release. No pinched fingers. All that said, I love this style of clamps. Like I said, I have eight, but I want eight more lol
Other sources are: the 'extra' clamps sold for the 'Pantarouter' jig and 'Banggood' a mainland Chinese site that sells all sorts products from various manufacturers. As for the sticky slide action, it is a benefit when you are trying to use it with a saw track as the moving jaw doesn't immediately fall all the way open if you have to use two hands to adjust something else.
Love my Powertec leaver- ratchet clamps Five Stars !!! Toe toToe with the other two ... Work equally well on my welding fixture table and woodworking multi function tables ... Thanks for your review
Bessey makes the festool clamps. They are indeed identical. I know this first hand. Also bessey is the festool of clamps and considered premium brand. It is like fein makes festool osc. Premium quality partners.
Good to know Jim. Color was the only thing setting them apart. My dad worked in a Stanley tool plant and I learned early on (back then) that the same plant made many brands and just had a different brand stamp and finishing options. I love Bessey. They’re my fav clamps. Haven’t thought about them being the “Festool of clamps” but I agree.
There is one slight difference between Festool’s vs Bessel. Bessey has the “unlock” (black vs green on festool) button bigger to prevent pinching your finger.
That would make sense since that both Bessey and Festool are made in Germany. I have both the Festool x6 total came with my MFTs and TS55 kit. And x2 Bessey and I like them both. Price was up there but buy once and never buy again is my motto. I just wish that the clamps were at a more reasonable cost as I live on a fixed income and replacing all my clamps that I sold years ago to now to restart my woodworking shop is getting expensive like cost of machinery expensive.
Thanks for this. I was about to order the Festool clamps. They are $48 now. Bessey is $43 and the powertec isnt available any more. I appreciate the help though
I bought two 50cm ratcheting china clamps for under 35$ and a 24cm Bessey clamp for 50$+. All of them get the job done, but I wouldn't replace my Bessey even for 10 china clamps ... Work sucks less when you use quality tools!
Bessey and Festool ones are made by Bessey just color difference. Also Bessey ones are $35 atm on amazon. I would rather pay just a bit more as you more taht is not seen, like the materials used
Yo what do you think of grinding the foot into a dovetail to match the Matchfit system? Im not a big fan of their twist style, I just haven't figured out how to make the cuts consistent yet.
That’s a great question. I’ve never used the matchfit system. Like you, I don’t like the screw type clamps. I like the ratchet style better. I don’t like cutting wood into dovetails, doing steel would be crazy!
Can you do a youtube short update about these clamps and how well they work on the new Milwaukee tracksaw guide rails as I know they are slightly different
Festool partners up with specalized manufacturers. They developmand produce their machines. Most of the accessories are brought in from other specialized manufacturers meeting exact Festool quality standards. This is also the case for bits, Saw blades, clamps etc. ... and of course with Tanos systainers. The good thing is the consistent quality standards. But it is pricy.
those claps were invented by Bessey, another company from the same area, and Festool has decided to sell branded versions under their name. Tanos on the other hand is a sister company of Festool.
$90+ Australian dollars (USD 0.70c roughly to the AUSD) here which makes it the equivalent of USD$63.00 per clamp. Cringe. Ok, so we probably have to pay an extra premium as it was most likely our iron ore or alumina that was exported from here to.......there but hey! The green is still the festool green.... Banggood (I kid you not...! Chinese, of course. ) flog some version of the ratchet clamp for heaps less too. Thanks for the heads up though. Will go Amazoning shortly. Good luck with your channel. And hi from the south western corner of Australia.
And all are most probably made in and copied by same Chinese factory. There might be slight differences in quality or materials .. according to what customer ordered - quality tool or cheep tool. That's how unfortunately greed made big names like Bessey / Festool (and gazillion of others) to simply export their knowhow for merely nothing. And we are then "surprised" that same clamp is way cheaper on Banggood or Aliexpress from unknown Chinese "maker" (well, they made them, but just copied some ones success story to make it their own).
@@wittworks I know right, and since bessy made the festool clamps, those are also made in china... I will support powertec with my quick clamp purchase as its a USA manufactured item
@@chuckgrumble5440 man that's terrible. My dad worked for stanley when they made tools in Texas, and when they went to china the quality of them dropped significantly. Same with craftsman. Or ___________
