Tank 300 by greatwall motors. Very expensive here. Costs around Ringgit Malaysia 220,000 without insurance. I can never afford it. But great car I think.

Miriam I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your adventures, hopes, and plans; the unknowns and the excitement that comes with it. For many of us, myself included, an adventurous spirit gets curtailed by age and the capacity to do the things we would otherwise love to do. As someone now over 60, I can still try many new things and travel a little, but certainly not as bold as I would dream to. Your wonderful adventures give us a glimpse of things we may never see, people we may never meet, and for that I thank you. Warmest wishes from Western Australia.

I have done many long road trips in the U.S. in the past. I recommend 2 additions to your SUV; a roof cargo carrier like Yakima(As big as it will fit), and a folding cargo carrier hitch mount Rack at the back.(You will need to install a hitch) These two additions will definitely make your trip much more enjoyable.

I remember that feeling of buying a new car. When my husband retired we went on our European trip starting in the Netherlands where I am from. My brother drove us to Sweden to the Volvo Plant where I bought my first new car ! We drove it around Europe for 8 months. I could have done that forever but my American husband was homesick for California. We had the car shipped over. It was our grand adventure ! Congratulations, I wish you happy trails ! I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now. One of my other interests happens to be cars, and specifically SUV’s. I’ve been watching a ton of videos on this exact car the Tank 300 because we are waiting for it to be launched here in South Africa with great anticipation. It comes with a very good reputation, even being such a new model. I never knew my interest in that specific car would intersect with your channel - awesome!! You will enjoy road tripping , camping and exploring many of the remote areas with this. I think this will definitely expand your horizons and possibilities. Enjoy ! Maybe one day I will be able to get my own Tank.

What your rough itinerary be like? If you are going from Tibet to Xinjiang, you may encounter rough frigid weathers at high altitudes.

Not planning for Xinjiang or Tibet, due to travel restrictions as a foreigner! We originally planned to go Qinghai-Gansu-Ningxia-Shaanxi-Chongqing-Sichuan-Yunnan . But honestly, since we are a month delayed already, we might head south first and drive our way up north in spring! Then it would be Qinghai-Gansu-Sichuan-Yunnan. Then back to Qinghai for CNY, and then going north! Don’t want too much cold if we want to camp 😅

@@MiriamFollin I see. Yes, Tibet requires separate permit, not Xinjiang. However, border towns with sensitive military installations, even locals have to apply for special permit. Look forward to the destinations you have planned. Have a safe journey ahead!

@@ymhktravel special permit plus constant company of a guide in Tibet! I think you need a special permit to go to Xinjiang too? Anyways, if we can’t move freely we won’t go there. Will first explore all other beautiful places China has to offer!
