Very much like the no nonsense reporting of Aerospace related content in China. Seems like a lot going on that the average Westerner has no awareness it.
I just realize, that China is using it's different cities as competing profit and investment centers. Amazing, we have nothing like that here in the US.
@@DongfangHour Hopefully the COVID issues will subside very soon and u can make the short trips from HK to Shenzhen and Guangzhou for your excellent work.
Hmmm, yes when compared to New Shepard, it has similarities and differences. But I think it's copying Dragon, not New Shepard. The capsule is obviously a Dragon. It even has SuperDraco abort thrusters (but why would you need abort thrusters on a cargo capsule?). Also, if you stretch Dragon's unpressurized trunk to a short booster length and add grid fins at the top, you get exactly the design shown in the renders. I mean, it even has the aero fins that the Dragon trunk has (only necessary for flight stability during an abort). Also also, the launch tower and crew access arm (again, why would anyone need a tower access arm for a 100-300kg cargo payload?) look exactly like a scaled down toy version of SpaceX's LC-39A launch pad, not Blue Origin's texas site. The renders actually look like a Lego kit. This whole thing is clearly a case of someone repurposing existing images & visual concepts to produce some quick & dirty, barebones marketing material that in all likelihood bears zero relationship to any actual hardware, because the architecture as shown makes NO SENSE. It reminds me a lot of a Scott Manley video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IMk02CCpDfQ.html Lastly, something was up with Blaine's audio. Every "s" sound was piercing.
Thanks for the thoughtful reply, and also for the info regarding Scott Manley's video, very interesting and helpful feedback. With regard to Blaine's audio, combination of him speaking with a mild lisp, and also having a poor quality mic because he was in the hospital with Covid during the recording of this episode. Future episodes (he's now out of the hospital) will be better sound quality.
@@DongfangHour I just realized I got myself completely confused on this one. I must have been multi-tasking when I first watched the video, and in my head I mashed the first part of the video with the latter part, merging the suborbital tourist rocket & the cargo capsule into one vehicle. HA! So I retract my comments about the architecture making no sense, but my comment about repurposing another company's visual design language still stands. Sorry about the covid. Glad he's better now.
I'm wondering if it might be useful to expand beyond just Chinese space tech for your channel. Electric cars would be a huge draw, for example. Just a thought.
Good point, although we are much less knowledgeable in other tech sectors. In the end the direction Dongfang Hour seems to be taking is to be sector-specific (space), but with an extensive coverage. And TBH, the space stuff alone keeps us quite busy already.
Any of our ancestors who faced famine, starvation and death because of natural or political disasters knows survival unlike anyone who has never felt hunger. China has learned to take care of its citizens.
actually outside china country people known less about China space program their built rocket actually have individual company it's different company yes their are same organize but the made design and launch rocket definitely not same that why China had so many multiple different rocket well depending on what purpose China use if cargo sending for super heavy duty their will named long march series model if for remote sensing satellite their will be few different rocket can be chose base on weight and how many satellites launch at once time into orbital China space program is tremendously insane amazing
@@DongfangHour yeah. I only recently discovered your channel and have been watching your videos. Really great research u guys are doing. Impressive how u are able to read the Chinese articles. That 1km space station piece is really interesting
Thanks for the kind words! And thanks for watching! We have some new initiatives we are working on, including a series of 10-20mins "mini deep dive" episodes, so stay tuned!
Can't wait for the CAS sub orbital rocket. If it's safe, I don't see why people won't ride it. I'm sure the prices will be competitive. Especially since Virgin is asking close to half a million for rides.
the best part about galactic energy so far is their black rockets. china new space companies need to introduce more color into the industry, add some flair
Could they be any less creative than just making the capsule look like an off brand dragon? I mean they make it look more unique then it would be really cool
Space engineering is all about the limits of physics. If you’re looking into building a solution that solves the same problems as another providers then you’re getting into limited design options. Look at how similar Airbus and Boeing planes are.
@@elmersbalm5219 yeah I know, I'm just referring to the fact that they didnt even try. It's probably just for the renders at the moment but this is literally the exact same. Everything down to the abort engine layout or the seam at the top of the capsule where the docking adapter would be. The only difference is the windows
Your content is interesting if not altogether convincing. From what seems to me like undue deference to unconvincing proposals I assume you are 'casting from inside China. If that is so then your reticence is understandable. I will continue to watch for the entertainment value if nothing else.
