I cry for joy whenever I see this because I recall seeing it on Broadway in 1979 and it was so jaw-droppingly fabulous that I thought "I will NEVER see anything better than this!" In person it was so extraordinary and magical.
I had a wonderful career as a studio backup singer and met Marvin Hamlisch very early on in his career. It was way before A Chorus Line and he had written a song and needed a demo of it. He was high strung and suffering from an ulcer, God bless him! He was very kind to me. I was thrilled in subsequent years for his enormous success, so we’ll deserved. Thanks for sharing your gifts with us, Marvin. RIP

Gorgeously done, loving the (intentional) irony of a song celebrating the unique, individual charisma of 'one' while part of a lock step crowd of people singing and dancing in unison. Fantastic play!
Such outstanding precision and class using such a large group of dancers is magnificent. A much talented cast, plus a genius choreographer, costume designers, musicians, etc., created this masterpiece making it a big success.
A couple of years ago a friend was doing a crossword puzzle and asked if I knew a song, with 3 letters. I instantly said "One" and started singing the song I saw the play on Broadway I think early '80's and remembered this finale so vividly as we had seats close up. All the golden outfits, the precision choreography was unforgettable. I described it all to my friend. A beautiful memory!😊❤️🌹🇺🇸
I had the VERY VERY great honor to meet Mr. "A chorus line" himself, Marvin Hamlisch who played at The Bergen Performing Arts Center (Back then it was called "The john harms center for the performing arts") in my hometown of Englewood, NJ, I was moved by the way he could make the piano sing and more. And i wanted to share that with you sincerely. :)
Don’t you all love dancing . Not the best film but my goodness, what a fabulous finale! Keep dancing my friends during the crisis. It makes you feel better. To dance is the best. I did it for a living & my gosh, I wouldn’t change a moment of my life! Penny.
Indeed, but the greatest "A Chorus Line" finale was a special, one-time-only live event on Broadway involving, I think 300 former returning choristers, hundreds of whom performed the routine in the aisles to a thunderous standing ovation.
You dont see many movies do you? Horrible reviews, terrible actors and Michael Douglas in a role that almost ruined his career. Songs not sung in order with an actress up in the rafters singing for whom? Maybe you should try Funny Girl, Oliver, The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, GiGi, and CHICAGO to name a few-ALL BEST PICTURE OSCAR WINNERS except for Funny Girl which gave Streisand her Best Actress win.
I love these Broadway classics. If these songs don't get past the NY critics - they don't stay on Broadway very long. This one of my fav'rites! Thanks for postin'.

Having seen the original many years ago, and having "One" performed by friends at my retirement party, A Chorus line will always have a special place in my heart.
I know a lot of people don't like the movie, but i'm glad they made this movie it's for all of us that will never get a chance to see it on stage. Love this part of the movie, the dancers are very talented and very good dancers i wish i could see it live, but thats not gonna happen, so i bought the movie personally i like the movie very much, especially the auditions at the first part of the movie

I want to thank the young man who, in 1978/79 insisted that I would not be disappointed if I bought a ticket to this magical musical at the Chicago Shubert. I was waiting in line with friends and made the comment that I did not think A Chorus Line would appeal to me. Wow, was I wrong! What a great production it was so... thanks again, young man!
I liked the movie but The stage play was just awesome. I will always remember how thrilled I was when they went into the finally. Great play and I follwed it up with Phantom of the opera on stage in san fran. Still remember both of them as if it was yesterday

Prefect send-off tribute to today's passing of the solid gold One, Tina Turner. Who knew Chorus Line would be so prescient. Second best to none. R.I.P.
Saw the original Broadway production of this and saw it many times since. This is a simple but fantastic show, and in the theatre this is a fantastic number--it's hard to capture the power in a video... but thank you for posting it! One of my favorite musicals of all time.
The kicks...in a smaller cast size...are incredible to watch...and give me chills. Not that this isn't good...but when I see a small group of like 15-20 do it...I tear up.
This is the musical that changed my life and got me into dance class finally. Thank you so much for your beautiful music, Marvin. You brought so much joy and beauty into this world.

Saw the original theatre production in London, I was in tears especially at the end as I had just left working in the theatre, boy it physically hurt inside. Mum was with me and she kept looking at me as tears rolled down my face. Still hurts today
