We actually saw the movie in the theater the week it came out. There was only 40 people in the place but everyone was laughing and enjoying the film. No one knew they were watching a classic.
Excellent video! Jean Shepherd originally lived in Hammond Indiana, which is what the film is based from. Homan is the main street in Hammond, Indiana. The parade scene in the movie is very reminiscent of how it truly was back in that day.
So glad they have this for people to enjoy. They did an awesome job in keeping the original items with all the original layouts of the house and backyard. Very cool to see this, thanks for sharing this!!
I went through the house last Tuesday the 6th. It was so neat! I took the trip in honor of my late girlfriend who passed back in September. We had this trip planned and I know she would have loved it as well.
I have seen a lot of other favorite YT channels tour this house before and I heard that it was for sale. The Christmas Story has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies! 😃Thank you for sharing your experience!
It’s so great to see y’all in our hometown! So much to see and it’s so nice seeing how enthusiastic y’all are about being there! I’m so glad you had a great time 😊
Thank you for your tour. It was especially nice that you showed this video because I and many of your viewers don’t live close enough where we can tour the house. Thank you
I love the Christmas Story!! My son in Law looked exactly like Ralphie when he was a little boy. Haha. I'm glad you guys got to go visit the actual Christmas Story house. Thank you Will & Dawn for taking us along.
The elementary school with the flag pole scene is local to Cleveland! Its in my old neighborhood, Slavic Village. The school was Mound Elementary on Mound Ave. It has since been torn down and rebuilt. Of course the parade scenes were in Cleveland Downtown on Euclid Avenue. The Higbee building where Ralphie saw Santa is still there. The restaurant was on Rockwell Ave. We ate there sometimes. Chins Red Dragon.
The school is in St. Catherine's ontario Canada , on Niagara street. Most of the film was shot in Toronto. The fire truck belongs to the Chippewa lions club to this day . All info is available on Google.
I didn't like that movie at all for many years when my kids were growing up then one year I sat down by myself and watched it and just absolutely loved it! Now it is a tradition. How fun it is to see all the things in the house and the house itself! Glad y'all got to go there! I'm sure it was like being in the movie yourself. Thanks for taking us along!💖
Thanks soo much for doing this video!!! My FAVORITE Christmas movie too! My daughters and I laughed so hard at cutting the head of goose. Unexpected!!!🥰🥰❤️
I LOVE THE MOVIE AND THE HOUSE..THIS MOVIE IS A CHRISTMAS STAPLE IN MY HOUSE...THESE ARE THE KIND OF XMAS TREES I REMEMBER AS A KID..WHAT MEMORIES THIS HAS BROUGHT BACK..GOOD WORK ON THIS VIDEO !!!👒🎒🎄✨🎁
Oh wow, Will and Dawn! You got to go see this house 🏡 in Cleveland. That is unreal. Thanks for taking us along with you. Have fun, enjoy and be safe. 😊
That is so very neat! I remember when houses especially kitchens and those ringer type washing machines looked like that. We had one of those washers when I was very small. Great vlog Will & Dawn!!
I went to the house several years ago / they do a 5k around Christmas time. Got to tour it after. So much fun!! We got pictures with the 2 elves from the movie.
thanks for sharing, can you believe I've never seen this movie, only clips of it lol, I saw Adam's video of this, I think he stayed the night, and I really enjoyed your visit here and showing the museum as well, have fun on your Christmas road trip, I'm enjoying seeing these places through you, since we have not been able to travel lately
This was neat. Very niice gift shop museum. There was a Class A motor home at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort that had a paint job that made it look like Cousin Eddies camper. It was neat and they had an Explorer with wood grain doors and a pitiful looking Christmas tree tied on top. It was so neat to see. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful Christmas adventures. God bless.
Oh my goodness Will and Dawn…are you kidding me??!!!!!..y’all actually went 😮😮😮😮…I….Love…The Christmas Story..we were gonna go back in 2020 but then the pandemic hit and we had to cancel 😢…thank you!…thank you!…thank you!..for this amazing surprise, I absolutely loved it❤❤❤❤❤😊
I currently have seven sets of those lighted candles. Ranging from 5-7 bulbs. I set them in all the windows facing the front of the house. With the orangish coloured bulbs they look great in the windows and cast an interesting glow throughout the house and outside as well. It’s amazing that they have lasted four plus decades now. Albeit is getting harder now to get replacement lightbulbs. Fortunately I bought quite large number of packages of replacement bulbs a few decades back and still have at least half of them. They should be good for the rest of my life anyway!
Will and Dawn, really enjoyed this! One of my favorite Christmas movies too! That's really cool! Looking forward to your next vlog! Love y'all!❤️🧑🎄🎄⛄🎁❄️
I've always loved that movie. We watched the new sequel last week.....and it was great also. I would love to tour that house some day.....thanks for sharing! 👍
Love it! I’ve always loved a Christmas Story since I was a child. We even have the full size replica of the leg lamp that sits in our front room window every year. We also have the house cookie jar, leg lamp night light and the moose mugs too. Love Christmas Vacation too. Looks like a great experience! ❤

I moved to central Ohio 7.5 years ago. I’m about 2.5 hours south of Cleveland. When I found out the house from A Christmas Story was that close, I had to go. Unfortunately, it took me up until 10/30/22, 7 years later to make it there, but I will be going back. Some inside shots were done inside that house, it was only 1 or 2 shots, but there were a couple. It’s a cool story on how they accidentally found the house and how they found the owner and then got him to agree to letting them film there
I would like to say I would not be caught dead in a pink bunny suit. But going to the A Christmas Story house I would wear a pink bunny suit just once.
The other scene, also filmed in Cleveland, was at Higbees Department Store. Ralphie was looking in the window and cool displays for Christmas. My mom took me to Higbees in the early '50's to see their displays. I pressed my nose against the windows - kinda like Ralphie.
