I work in the environmental industry assessing and cleaning hazardous waste sites in New England. It's no mystery to me why so many die every year of certain types of cancer. "Civil Action" is a great book and very educating. Jan was a pioneer in the industry and obviously a great public speaker. It was great to see that this experience put his heart in the right place. Jan if you read this, Thank You for all your hard work, it has definitely made a difference!

do you have any suggestions or tips? I am trying to investigate a textile mill next to my old house that was dumping 40,000 gallons of toxic waste into these lagoons they built. It's difficult as I had lived there in the 90's but there are numbers for hex chrome, PFAS, PCB's, high lead, EPH's , PAH's, etc. What company do you work at?

The Woburn case was initially introduced to me in one of my graduate course 'Analytic Groundwater Flow Modeling' at Indiana University. I bought and read the book 'A civil action' right away. I appreciated your courage and determination. It is really good for me as a South Korean to see you healthy and lively. Justice should win with time and history.

A Civil Action has brought me here...an informative talk and a new-found respect for (some) lawyers...they're not all scumbags as my experience has suggested. I worked for W.R. Grace in the 70's...J Peter was on Reagan's 1984 presidential commission on business (resolved: IRS taxes go only to pay interest on our debt)...Asbestos litigation (among others) is what eventually put them in bankruptcy.

I like the gold cufflinks that Mr. Schlichtmann is wearing in this video, particularly visible on-screen near the 9:20 mark/timestamp. Nice touch!

My uncle Al was played by James Gandolfini in the film. Was a scary time for my cousins. J. Peter Grace was good friends with Reagan. I clearly remember my parents going to dinner with my uncle and aunt one night in the mid eighties. Jan called shortly before they left for dinner and told him, "you might want to take someone else's car tonight, Al..."

"Bury them as deep as you will...they have a strange way of resurfacing" (near the 25:00 mark/timestamp). This is a good, succinct summary of my thoughts toward the comments section of videos posted on RU-vid/RU-vid comments. Hopefully someday, it will be true!

~19:20: "I thought about the children...". Helen Lovejoy from The Simpsons's iconic tagline ("Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?") comes to mind. Popular culture dynamo!

Unsure about the american lawyer system. No their job to do a pushed investigation. In the end on that case it's the witness that gave the truth, not the 1.4 millions spent on geologist.

This would have been much better if he just told the story without the histrionics. I'm over here like "dude, will you please just get to the point!!"
