Advance tickets, featurettes, interviews, VHS-exclusive scenes, and more! I take a closer look at the recent releases of new Alien: Romulus content which coincided with ticket sales.
I liked the young kid in the interview with his dad; reminds me of myself, an 8 years-old with my dad going to see Alien in '79, I didn't sleep for 2 weeks, was scared shitless....
Same experience ! It was a turning point in my life ( Huge thank to Dad , to be so SF passionate!) . Well I have to admit that 1 year before Star Wars had a huge impact as a kid , but Alien was more a Stendhal syndrom if you know what I refer to ( I think it had the same effect on a lot of people too all along the years the franchise continued ). During many years the big shap , the og Master HR Giger design haunted my dreams and ...phantasms . So , at 55 I'm steel fascinated by the beauty of the beast and it's univers . So lets continue !!! Hope this one will be up to the task of this new ambition.
Yep I was 5 when my parents took me and I traumatized coming out of the theater. That kid seemed to handle it a lot better. He’s a grown man now, probably about to take his kid to see Romulus next month.
I saw Alien first when I was 10 on tv. Alas, wasn't old enough to see it in the UK when it was released, as it was rated 'X' under the old BBFC classification. Wasn't phased by it really, not the facehugger scene or the chestburster scene, only time I jumped a bit in my seat was when poor Captain Dallas bit the dust in the air shafts. I was lucky enough to see Alien on the bigscreen at a 'Retro Movie' showing at a local cinema as part of a double-bill with Aliens. That was awesome! Stay frosty.🥶👍
This is how marketing is done right, the trailers don’t reveal too much but show enough to hook you. The behind the scenes are beautiful and that VHS footage was amazing. I hooked and can’t wait to see the full film on the cinema.
I liked the first trailer a little, harkened back to the 1979 one in spurts, but the trailers after that have been disappointing. I just don’t understand why modern horror trailers have to be so generic and “epic” sounding.
You are psychic my friend!!! I say this bcs i've seen pics few days ago of exactly that, xenomorph egg, small facehugger legspoking out,and popcorn is inside it!!! Possibly they'll make it in some cinema!? I'd pay extra to be able to bring that thing home with me,and eat from it during watching the film
It's such a nice little touch that they included the water dropping onto the camera from the engines. That's a great sign that the entire team actually paid attention to all the small details and are serious about delivering a very faithful and effective sequel.
Nobody is mentioning the beautiful soundtrack? One of the things that also make the original a masterpiece is also getting some nice work on this movie.
Exactly. Did you notice that new movies have no good soundtrack. Something that was awsome in Terminator 1 and 2, Alien, Aliens,Alien 3, Jurasic Park, Young Einstein, Ghostbusters, Blade runner etc.
I'm sorry if this is inappropriate due to comments switched off , but I just watched your content on your buddy Mike R.I.P. My heart sank with every word you said , take all the time in the world, people go and check out the video about Mike and Theory, we will help as much as possible and all send you our love thought's and prayers same to Mike and his family 😢
Love how the clip isn't really a spoiler since we all know this group heads to the station. We also get a glimpse at the dynamics of the crew and how stunning the visuals are!
Wishing you well Alien Theory. Your the best for this universe, want you to know you have gifted me hours of intrigue and escapism in this brilliant universe and we are all with you in these times brother. Thank you, and all my best wishes to you.
a VHS video clip of this in mono sound, gotta love it, for those old enough to remember it. And also with 'pan and scan' 4X3 format for those originally watching it (Aliens: Special Edition) from a network tv broadcast with a VHF antenna receiver.
You can FEEL the team making this get what Alien and Aliens is all about. The vibe from the group when they board the ship; joking around and such; reminds me of the marines from Aliens mixed with the crew from Alien. The guy pulling off the fire and cigarette trick while they are going into orbit reminds me of the knife trick in Aliens. I also have to wonder the way they show that and the android character watching so intently will play into something in the finale. My brother's birthday is the day right after release. We've watched EVERY Alien and Predator and AvP movie first time together since we were kids watching Alien on VHS with our dad. The first we saw in theaters was Alien 3 (I know, I know). My mom who is in her 60s is even pumped to go see it; she loves the series too. We'll be the crazy people in the back of the theater snickering and laughing while the alien is on its rampage. :)
I was 15 when the original Alien debuted. Seeing all the hype reels for Romulus gives me a renewed vibe for this franchise and gives me the "can't waits" like I had back then.
They have done an amazing job with this movie between the trailer being flawless with not showing too much but showing enough to excite you. The vhs was an awesome touch with a scene that gets you invested into the crew but doesnt give you any info into the meat and potatoes of the movie
A quick correction! It’s mentioned that it is ADI doing the lip quivering on the Xenomorph, but that is actually LEGACY EFFECTS work on that one. They did the full grown Xeno in this one, ADI did the Chestburster.
@@MikesMonsters this is also why you are an ass. You cant let people speculate, but you also try to correct people. How long have you been floating around on AVP galaxy correcting people and not giving away spoilers etc. But all of a sudden now you are saying it's this person? Or that person?
I almost didn’t watch this video because we‘re only about a month away. I ended up caving because I can’t help myself, you‘ve got the best Alien coverage, and I’m unbelievably hyped for Romulus.
That VHS preview is beautiful. I remember my parents taking me to the Alien premiere in Los Angeles back in 79'. I was hiding behind the seat in front of me for more than half of the film and had nightmares for months. Thanks mom and dad 🤣🤣. I'm counting down the days for the August Romulus premiere!
I would love a VHS release in cinemas haha! I am the only one that wants that? We get our black and white versions of modern films, so why not VHS? ;) Great content as always 👍
Im leaving this here because comments were of on the video you posted My thoughts and prayers are with you and your extended family sorry for your loss 🙏🙏🙏
Now my friends are gonna think I’m psycho when I’m looking around the theater on opening night. “Wtf are you doing Kyle?” “Alien Theory said he would see me at the movies. I wonder if he’s here yet…”
You do realise the Alien franchise has always had a diverse cast in every single movie. By your logic, you don't like Alien and Aliens either. People seem to forget the diversity in the Alien franchise. I guess these aren't true fans at all. I hate what Disney are doing with diversifying everything too, but like i said, the franchise has always been this way hence why Disney has touched it.
You do realize that only like 1/6 of humanity is of European descent? If we're being realistic about a future space faring humanity, half the colonists should probably be Chinese.
Slightly off topic but I've just watched my digital copy of 'Aliens Extended' and it's brilliant. So much extra stories and info never before heard of and excellent interviews including yourself. So much so that I can't wait for Romulus in only a few weeks time. Thanks for a great channel.
Fox: we need you to make an alien movie Fede: cool imma make it a love letter to old fans, do a fun little VHS thing for the entire internet to enjoy, AND give it a kickass soundtrack that's both new and old seriously, i haven't been this excited for an alien movie in such a long time, its so refershing to see a director whose a fan of the franchise!!!
Loved the way you summed everything up in one video, so I won't have to be looking for every each on them on yt. Photography looks so amazing, I have really high hopes on this one! Even though I was hoping they wouldn't spoil the alien design until the movie, It looks fucking awesome! Keep the good work, dude!
I saw your last video and i have to to say: Your are a very unique authentic voice in a very special movie genre and im loving it for years. i watched every video on your channel. May the the Lord bless you and your family and thank you for the insights, personal views sharing your well-educated thoughts about the franchise. Big respect for showing yourself and im so very sorry what happend to your family, nothing more to say.
You should get paid to get people hyped to see this. Your channel has single-handedly renewed my own love for this amazing franchise. And let me tell you I am a very picky youtube watcher/listener. Your voice intonation and manner of speech is perfect for this franchis, and your covering of the comics and what ifs have expanded my understanding of the alien-verse as well as the AVP-verse which I honestly saw as a cheesy hollywood cash-grab until I listened to you narrate and analyze the subject matter. Your Weyland Yutani timeline is fucking seminal for anyone interested in how capitalism, commercialism tie into the series and how human greed plays such a big role in how events play out. Well fckn done, sir. Your hard work is appreciated! 👏👏👏
Just purchased my tickets yesterday. I will see it Twice the on August 15th, 2024 at 3 p.m. (then go home have dinner) then again at 9 p.m. with friends. Then again on Monday Aug. 20th, 2024 in IMAX . . . I have not be this excited about the Alien Universe franchise, since that the faithful "Cinematic Changing Night" in 1979 when I experienced My Best Cinematic Experience of "All Time" with ALIEN . . . Life Is Good in the Alien Universe . . . .
I'm with you. I went from thoroughly suspicious to hoping my work schedule allows for opening night at the Alamo (I simply must have that pint glass. I have the one they released opening night for Rogue One and it's fantastic. Alamo doesn't cheap out). The footage released thus far really looks fantastic and the mood feels exactly right. Cannot wait. PS really digging the ethereal background music you've been working with. Nice.
Haven't been to the cinema in a while but I'm definitely going for this one. I'm sure as hell getting my mom to see it as well as a thanks for showing me Alien and Aliens when I was 6 back in the 90s. It has become somewhat of a tradition although she wasn't very happy with Covenant and even barely remembers it. Truth be told I'm rarely excited for modern movies but Alien is Alien! I've seen the movies, read the novels and comics, played the games and enjoyed everything the universe has to offer, the good, the bad and even the weird!
I hear at ComicCon panel on that day, some 40 plus years later, the bonus situation will be discussed in full, along with what was really on Burke's whiteboard, along with cans of Burke's Own brand dogmeat
I managed to get a ticket for the premiere in Edinburgh Film Festival and I'm so excited! I would love to get my hands on one of those VHS tapes too as I still have a player and love watching the first two films on it as it's the way I remember them growing up and still love all the faults of VHS.
SPOILERS..... the guy with the cattle prod stabs it in to the cacoon, which makes contact with the alien head, inside. Thats why its dome is messed up. The aliens tail then stabs him under his chin and the cocoon then starts to open up, the alien comes out and thats when you see it look like its changing. But its not, its just coming out of the cacoon
I have avoided watching past 3:22 because I don’t want spoilers. But today is the day!!! I’m gonna watch Alien Romulus in IMAX in a couple of hours. Please let it be good 🤞🏻
ALIENS is my fave movie of all time. ALIEN is in my top5, and hell even the assembly cut of ALIEN3 is borderline top 10 for me. To say i'm excited for this film is an understatement. 2 problems i have so far with what footage we have seen is i dont like how all the cast seem to be teenagers, or early 20's. Its just not appealing to me. And the other worry i have is if the film has the budget to do the film justice. We all know this was orig supposed to be 'straght to streaming'. And i have to say some of the sets and insides, to me, look a little tv series level. I hope i'm wrong on all that obviosuly and the film blows us all away.
We've known all along that the cast was going to be very young. Fede was interested in the deleted scene from Aliens that shows life in the colony, specifically what it must be like to grow up there. They're kids just coming of age who would do anything to get off the ugly rock they were born on.
About the children watching "Alien" back in the day, I wonder how they're doing today. "In space no one can hear you scream... bun in theater, everybody does, including smelling you pooping your pants! Enjoy..."
Absolutely awesome. They finally made a good one. It felt like a mixture of both Alien and Aliens. It hit all the right buttons and looked great. It also had the gross meter pegged. Not gore so much as just gross and slimy.
Did'nt u hear abt the"cocoon" Derek??? Mr.H has a video on it,it leaked, the cocoon is how Fede wants to show us a "new stage in alien lifecycle", they made this to happen when a chestburster matures into an adult (so going from that snake-type thing into a adult xeno)! Apparently chestburster cocoons itself for a short time, and a grown xenomorph comes out!!! It's utterly friggin awesome...
I'm wondering if their parents or some of the colonists were taken by Weyland Yutani and used in their experimentation with the xenomorph aboard the orbiting station ?
17:44 this has already been answered. It is the life cycle stage between a chestburster and a grown xenomorph. Basically, chestburster cocooning itself to grow. Also, the damage on the alien is from one of the characters poking and stabbing that cocoon with that electric prod.
Just a thought but what if we got a Alien film on Hadleys Hope?. We could see more into the lives of the people there and then eventually witness the Xenomorph outbreak. I really think that would be so cool to see. "Alien Hadleys Hope"
Having just finished watching Aliens Expanded last friday ❤️❤️, this awesome vid of tidbits and new shots to look forward to, lands. Man I'm genuine getting excited to go see A:R! Would looove to have the Facehugger popcorn bin 😎😎
All the references and easter eggs are very alarming. You can really tell that Disney are in charge and are really trying to milk people’s nostalgia. Even in the promotional clips they keep comparing it to Alien and Aliens. It’s exactly how they market Star Wars. It’s honestly giving me Force Awakens flashbacks.
Even though nothing is happening, my body knows what will happen. It is giving me an uneasy and anxious feeling. I can’t wait to watch this in theaters, unable to pause to reflect on what just happened. Just one after thing after another. I’m already feeling scared to watch it ❤
Would be super cool if you got around to covering AvP life and death. Only because the actual complete comic has been hard to come by since it’s out of print. I already have fire and stone, so finishing that story with life and death would be epic.
If Alien Romulus is made canon per word of Ridley Scott himself, that means it would most likely take place between the first two films. Maybe even contradict some old canon, but still be canon in its own right. It would be cool if they made an Alien movie or game about the Earth War.
I just can’t… I want to but no spoilers! Thank you for the warning, I will continue to watch your videos but I’m going to come back to these after my first viewing in order to hear your thoughts
