Brian May is like the er...Freddie Mercury of guitar playing. As a guitarist I can understand how good he is-- the best. Makes me wonder what a drummer thinks of Roger Taylor and a bassist of John Deacon.
as a guitarist, bassist and drummer I can safely say that this band was the best band in the world, all of them just had this chemistry which simply did not exist in most bands. John's bass went with Rogers jazz playing very well, and Brian's playing went literally with everything, he knew when to play his part which most guitarists dont do and eventually end up playing a ton of absurd shit. I admire how people compare Freddie to God, I mean God's good and all but he's no Freddie Mercury
@the meme king- who told you that Brian plays on a copy and doesn’t play the original? He does have copies as back ups but in general he plays his original one.
Brian knows how to make his Red Special : talk really fast, talk slow, sing, cry, rock, sound like an orchestra, an opera, an old violin, a choir, like it's coming from space, like it's taking you to space etc etc etc and he's the only guitarist in the world who can do that..
Just so everybody knows, I've become a huge fan of Queen because of this video. This is where I've learned about some of their best songs. Hands down, these are the greatest covers of Brian May solos. Period.
Great Tone and playing, nice job. Brian May is one the most underrated players in the last 30 years, he's up there with Hendrix & Jeff Beck, in my book, you recognize who is playing within 3 or 4 notes.
@@BrettSmithDaniels the recognition is generally due to the red special and Deacy amp, as well as his ideas with guitar layers. While Brian was very skilled at actually playing guitar, he is not to close to Hendrix and other god-like guitarist in my book if you're comparing only skill.

Haha! One is a British guitar player who played with Queen the other is a British car journalist who drives really slow and is entertaining by how uninteresting he is. 😂
I've listened to Queen all of my life that's why, but I write my own songs too. Love all of Innuendo as an album, a lot of input from Brian on that one
That guitar looks like the red special. I remember watching this 5 years ago and I didn’t know what this was but then I started listening to Queen music. Thank you very much for making me a queen fan for 5+ years. ✊ respect.
Holy crap! All of Brian's best solos and you did a fantastic job on every single one AND nailed his sound/tone. If you're not already in a Queen tribute band, you really should consider starting one! You would sell out every show!
@@willbarbero tbf I dont think any Queen fan wants to hear a singer even remotely sound like Freddie, as long as they are a good singer and do the songs justice
Excellent! Great job!!! That tone is so buttery sweet! I loved Brian May since I was 8 years old. Now I'm 14 and I'm still addicted to that sound. I have to work on some of those tones. Cheers! Mini May
Will my man, I stand before you and bow!!!! That is without doubt the finest tribute compilation of solo's I have ever heard!! I am a bass player/singer/keyboard player (The latter very badly though. In fact if it was my main instrument, I'd starve!!) This year that is about to come in a matter of days, I will be gigging 41 years, 37 of them professionally. In all that time, I have never heard anyone come this close to Brian May!! My love of Queen stemmed the pre Queen days with Brian, Roger and Tim from their "Smile" days and now at 54, I'm every bit as big a fan as I was back then, but without blowing my own trumpet and apologies if it seems that way, but I can assure you I'm not, I know my shit when it comes to Queen, their sound, especially through the Freddie (God rest him) and John's chapter of the group. So you my friend have ticked all the box's when covering Brian. Many congratulations Will and much respect!! Very best wishes and kindest regards from Ireland......Sean
Thank you Sean, those are really nice words. Like you, I am a huge fan and if anything, the older I get the more I get into their music. It takes fine ears to appreciate their songwriting, musicianship and production skills in full. I started playing the guitar over 20 years ago after listening to Brian's solos and I guess his style of playing became second nature to me. All the best and thank you again!
I've been a Queen fan since the age of 11, I listen to Queen (and only Queen) since then and in my opinion your guitar solos are the best ones that can ever be heard on RU-vid, absolutely stunning. Some of my favorite solos were featured in both part 1 and part 2, but there are two solos of Brian May that always sends shivers down my spine which are those in "You don't fool me" and "Too much love will kill you". If I can think of any other, I will let you know. Just wanted to add that I love the different video styles of part 2, making the black and white version for "These are the days.." makes you deserve the respect of all Queen fans. Thanks for these solos!
W-O-W. Okay. I'm a Queen fan since 1986. I've seen quite a few guitar players doing solo's from Brian....lot's..dozens! After seeing this first part: you're in my top 3. I'll watch your part 2 now. I'm very curious if you can become my personal favourite number two or maybe number one. Just maybe...you ARE the greatest! ;) We'll see! See you in part two!
I literally just started guitar because of the influence of Brian. I can’t seem to get the chords down and I don’t feel like I would be able to get the notes down. But sometimes when I feel stupid for even trying the guitar, I listen to Brian and his solo’s and it really helps. It encourages me to keep going even if I sound like shit. And one day I wanna be able to play his Bohemian Rhapsody solo even if it takes months of practice. I wanna get his guitar as well! Or at least something that’ll last longer than the one that I have now. Brian is truly an amazing person. Great guitarist, an activist for the animals, and truly cares for people and the world. He’s my idol.
@@ThePFRG He made a mistake. It's important to make mistakes sometimes, because then you LEARN. Because now he knows that it's 720p or whatever you said. So don't fucking hate on random people please.
Brian has often stated he prefers to "play across the chord" rather than just stick in a scale. ie his solos are built on chord tones with scale tones acting as "linking notes"
All the Brian May imitators forget one thing: his Unique (use of) vibrato. Now that is really what makes his sound. No one can imitate that, for god's sake.
Will Barbero you use a guitar guitar like the one that he uses, your tone is very similar, your technique sound like him, and you´re playing his songs, i guess you are an imitator
