Hey Ian. Tom Cardy asked people to vote for his tracks "H.Y.C.Y.BH" and "Mixed Messages" in the triple j Hottest 100 this year in the upload you mentioned. They managed to come in at #11 and #17, respectively. The triple j logo in the corner is there to make fun of triple j's "Like A Version" segment in which an artist covers another artist's song and that's what makes it funny since it's not actually a proper cover. The outro is triple j's Like A Version outro which adds to that joke. Thought this might help you understand all of that :)
I went on a Tom Cardy binge watching streak since I found him through one of your earlier reactions. I also wanted to check out more potential reactions to his videos since they are just comedy gold, but aside from this channel the reactions sure are close to non-existent.
You should listen to Jazz Emu, great stuff, I recommend ""Vibe it out", "Allergic", "Tiny Butt", "Keep the lights off", but honestly all his stuff is good, both musically and comedically, plenty of stuff to react to if you feel like so, great video
By the way, the Chalkeaters were releasing a new on next week on the 28th. I remember you reacting to their song “Count to Three” and I just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to know
Hello, Ian! It will be cool to see your reaction to "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the it's my book they will walk if I tell them to" by Tom Cardy.
Hey ian i got an off topic question. I was thinkin abt What you said from the previous video about weird al having a better system for releasing songs through singles rather than albums however I’m wondering why he hasn’t really made any new music other than the Hamilton polka and a few cameos and appearances in other songs and TV shows. Did he retire Making comedy music?
That's a great question. Truthfully he hasn't, because he has released a ton of songs other than just the Hamilton polka. Granted, they were featured in a lot of shows and TV programs, but he also did remixes for Portugal the man and a bunch of other songs with other artists says well. Hes been very busy the past couple of years.
@@Insaneian ooo thats a great point. Ya his collaborative works dont seem to appear in his spotify but he has been busy nonetheless I really liked his song in Wander Over Yander it was so fun
So there's a good chance that the book disappearing was entirely intentional. I mean Descarte is famously know for actively questioning if anything outside of himself actually exists or if it's possible that he is just being deceived by some outside force. While I personally think Descarte's Demon is an entirely useless and frankly kind of stupid proposition to entertain it is something he's famous for so I'm surprised you didn't pick up on that.
I get pausing to avoid copyright and add your opinion on such things. But at the frequency you do it the song loses all it's charm.. I feel you don't give it time to breathe. Your video your choice. Just some constructive criticism for the future. Edit* in one pause you listen to 4 bars, rewind. Play those same 4 bars and go 2 seconds after before passing again. Then rewinding and pausing on an even EARLIER spot. It just... Becomes overbearing and I Don't think you enjoy the song for being a song. More than you do enjoy lyrics for being what they are. It's cool to get all the jokes and be a lyrical guy but you're really detracting from the song imo.
I understand your frustration but this isn't for folks to watch the song, it's to see my reaction to it, and this is how I react. If you want to see the song without me "detracting" from it, the song is linked in the description. I pause a lot because I have a lot to talk about with comedy songs. If that's not your thing, I get it.
@@Insaneian I've seen the song countless times, I'd just love you personally to see it as that. A song, I'm all for you sharing your opinions and thoughts on the song. No qualms with that. But like I say. I feel you don't get to enjoy it as a song as much as you could if you listened to 30 or more seconds prior to pausing. But that's just my two cents. :)
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 oh, I definitely do enjoy it as a song as well. The way I chose to pause the song repeatedly has no bearing on my enjoyment of the tune. These videos are always a first impression reaction, but I usually do listen to the song again afterwards as well. Since I had familiarity with the original song this track was parodying, I could enjoy it's structure and composition without having to listen to it all the way through like a normal song. And since the point of my show is to discuss that structure and composition anyway...all the better, for me anyway. Obviously, YMMV.
Ok, so, actually the Triple J stuff is because he has a series of 'Song Sequels' which were recorded for Triple J, which are supposedly sequels to songs, but actually just straight parodies. They must have posted them on the Triple J tiktok, because a bunch of videos in his usual style are bootlegged on here with Triple J watermarks. Thus, this was one of them that they decided to do a full video for, I must assume.
