I had my Edwin for about 8 years, the threads are worn down so it will not tighten on the handle

I owned them both and both are great razors, but the Merkur 34C needs a longer handle in my opinion.

Iv always felt that too, hard to balance the 34-C on the little finger while shaving

38 C is longer and heavier version of 34 C

You should put a blade in each and check the alignment and blade exposure. I have both of these razors and the 34C has awful blade alignment. You have to fiddle with it to get to get the alignment and exposure close to where it should be. The DE89 is spot on, no fuss no muss.

Exactly right! I was actually pretty disappointed with first shave with the 34c. Later found out about the alignment issue.The DE89 is perfect both in the blade loading/alignment and the closeness of the shave.

@@maanics I didn't like the handle on my de89 but I found a stainless steel knurled handle on West Coast Shaving that is great. They have a large variety of handles.

@@eminusipi I have recently started using my dad's old Muhle R89 and I'm now looking to get my own DE Razor. Would you 100% rate the DE89 over the 34c?

@@rhydianc7502 Yes. You also have a choice of handles with the DE89. I don't have the Muhle R89 to compare with the DE89.

The important thing is that you have to choose the razors , cos razors could finish you perception about what to buy or choose for soft shaving razors you need to use sharp blades , for razor like Mercur futur you can use soft blade ,cos soft blade you can turn to aggressive by adjusting the shaving razor , plus knowledge and ability to manage with shaving razors
