Lucy, I know you are very young and in my experience, it seems to be easier to do dramatic or drag looks on younger skin. Now that I'm middle aged, I can no longer pull off a smokey eye or dramatic eye make up without it either aging me or looking theatrical/cartoonish/trying too hard etc. Because of this, I stopped using winged liner and bold colors. (All off the over 50 YTubers I watch seem to recommend this makeup routine.) . To make my 52 year old face look healthy and youngish (I have no major wrinkles or crows feet due to avoiding the sun for 30 years), I've been sticking to matte neutrals with soft upper lid liner and minor brow fills, using BB cream on the face and neck followed by translucent powder, very minimal contouring and highlighting, and setting spray. Do you have any advice for working with older skin to successfully achieve bolder looks for parties and other events? (PS, my 75 year old mother has had two face lifts (decades of suntanning) and uses the hidden tape method you've previously used to smooth out her skin when she attends formal events. I haven't been successful with the tape method at all, don't have the skill to hide it and don't wear wigs to cover it.) . Is there a way to achieve some of the bolder looks without resorting to the extensive prep work that drag performers over 50 use to create their styles or to create a softer yet dramatic version of them?
