Maaaaaaaan.... thank God for your reading order videos. I have watched them several times to come back and see what I'm missing after purchasing the cheaper books. I'm pretty much screwed with the Inferno Omni and the two X-men Claremont/Jim Lee Omni's they are definitely expensive books to get. I could kick myself for passing on Inferno at $150 shipped back in October 2019. That books Damn near $400 now. Smh

Thanks Omar! I was there collecting the comics from my newsstand from #94-168 when I was a kid and those were always the best memories of any of the monthly titles I bought. I'm also still hoping for a volume 4 omnibus to get me past #200. You really are enticing me to acquire some sort of volume that collects those two Omni's containing the Jim Lee stuff. Always enjoyed the soap-opera format of Claremont's writing of all these characters. I always liked that character-driven prose like Stephen King does with many of his protagonists.

I wish they’d included the extra pages added to the Classic X-Men reprints and the back-up stories. Some of the vignette stories are pretty important to Claremont’s canon. The Volume 5 omnibus is either going to be most glaring gap in the X-Men omnibuses or one of its most important additions. There’s a big chunk of important issues between Vol. 4 and Mutant Massacre, including a lot of the original X-Factor.

These books are amazing but out of my price range. Any suggestions on where to find more affordable (used) x men omnibus?

So I’ve purchased uncanny x men omnibus vol 1 and 2 and can’t find 3 and I’m tired of waiting for a reprint, I’m also REALLY wanting to read legion quest and age of apocalypse stuff, so should i continue from where i am or can i pick up with legion quest or will i be lost?(sorry for making this so long)

I don't like how they are branding some omnibus as prologues. The Inferno Prologue omnibus could be perfectly titled X-Men: Outback.

Xmen were a blast from the past for me. I seriously collected singles for Uncanny at issue #121 where Alpha Flight took on Xmen where I live. I thought it was awesome to have a setting I know about featured in a comic book. I collected up until 2000 when Andy Kubert was pencilling. I had to stop reading comic books all together because I started to take on big boy responsibilities. It kind of freaks me out that I actually read most of that material you presented. 4 years after stopping I started back up. Glad you brought up this stroll down memory lane.

I am 36 and have never read comics. I decided to start collecting. I am looking at Uncanny X-Men vol. 2 and it has issues 19-35 and 600. Then vol. 3 has 111-121. I guess that it ok to miss all those issues? I have been collecting movies, games, music and books since like 03. I really have no space for them now. So I want to collect comics. I guess I have no space for those either. haha But it's something different. I have some of the Ninja Turtles that are black and white and the first four Batman omnibus sets. I have a bunch pre ordered right now. Nancy Drew Omnibus, The X-Men omnibus vol. 1, Ultimate Spider-Man, The X-Men omnibus vol. 2, The Incredible Hulk omnibus, The Thing omnibus, The Amazing Spider-Man omnibus vol. 1, Batman The Silver Age omnibus vol. 1 and Ultimate X-Men omnibus vol. 1. So, A lot. haha When I was a kid I would watch X-Men. Gambit was always a favorite. I think I have a thing of his also.

(I don't expect you to remember me, but I was the dude who briefly talked European comics (Humanoids, Jodorowsky, Titan et al.) on one of your collection tour videos) Forgive me if this is a tedious question, but as a relative X-Men novice whose favorite all-time X books are Remender's "Uncanny X-Force" and Spurrier's "X-Force" (X-Force vol 4), what other related arcs would you recommend for quality of storytelling (i.e. not necessarily historical importance or degree of influence)?

I always tell people to start with the first appearance of Gambit: Uncanny X-Men #266! Awesome jumping on point. Up until #350, that usually gives people a good chunk to work with.

Your knowledge and devotion to X- Men is amazing - However you are showing a Lack of Understanding of the Original Lee-Kirby X Men - It was never viewed as 5 White guys - in that generation - It was viewed as a teenage group of mutants. They had mystery and interesting mutant aspects - from the almost alien cyclops to the powerful Beast to the magical angel and of course Professor X - Honestly to expect anything more in the civil rights struggle era - is very unrealistic. Nowadays unfortunately everything is viewed through a racial lense. In reality where I grew up in the early 60s white teenagers hung out usually with other white teenagers - and realize it was mostly Marvel who early on started introducing the "Diversity" to comics in the first place. The Main point of the Original X-Men I think was the fact that social commentary was kept to a minimum but the Mutants were viewed as Strange because they were different. Everything else evolved from that point. Also if you check the statistics I think comics sales were much more prolific in the old days - so the titles' first run was cancelled - but never forgotten to those who were there at the beginning. My point is - Is that I believe nowadays - people are more racist than ever because we tend to have a knee Jerk reaction tf any popular Medium has a story with just white people in it. Is there some kind of law against it. Be honest the way people of color (which color?) are portrayed today in a lot of cases still is presented in a very unrealistic fashion - Unfortunately we cannot do a damn thing in todays culture with out mentioning someones skin color. That is more of an Obsession with it - than it is anything normal. I grew up in the early 60s - and to this day I dont look at any form of art and look for any particular skin color - Maybe I am blessed because it is just not how I perceive things - I do not feel bad that things are the way they are now, but I do believe that all people are special because they are people not because they are different , which is some of the Prejudice that those Original X-Men were fighting against from the Beginning - It is so Ironic that Now over 50 years later - 5 white guys are thought of as being "Different" because they are white., so now they face two types of prejudice - One beings Mutants but also because they were all white.
