Tools are a contentious subject but today I'm going to try and share some of my knowledge and experience as a professional technician to hopefully help you in your tool buying journey.

This is not 1985. Steel grades are the same across the board. Even the dollar general store tools are just as strong.

Thats objectively false.

Andrew, the first thing you state is that you’re talking to the “Pro’s in the audience and not DIY’s. Then you talk about what we already know. So what is your point?

There's a lot of pros that would disagree, this conversation came up in my shop last week and, and i'm apparently the only one of the techs that thinks you should spend money on snap on tools. I thought if my shop guys where interested in this discussion maybe others would be to.

Pittsburg will replace any tool that breaks as long as it was used as a tool. Only a fool would buy snap on. Get Milwaukee drills and husky wrenches and Pittsburg sockets.

Snap On is a rip off, try Gear wrench and Lisle tools.

@@RogueWrenching I've rebuilt many engines and transmissions without any Snap On tools.

Snap on is garbage compared to Pittsburg. Price and performance.

I couldn't disagree more. There is certainly a case to be made when snap on is 10x the price that it isn't 10x the quality. I would stack my snap on tools up against anything from harbor freight any day of the week.

@@RogueWrenching you know how much money I've spent on my tools over the last 7 years?? About $800. And that includes my Milwaukee ½in impact. And snap on can't make a tool that would beat anything in my tool box. I build transmissions. Matco is Black& decor and Snap on is a loan company.
