October 28, 2009, a conversation on the work of Marcel Proust with Antoine Compagnon and Adam Gopnik.
Antoine Compagnon is the Blanche W. Knopf Professor of French and Comparative Literature at Columbia University and Professor at the College de France.
Adam Gopnik is an award-winning essayist and journalist for The New Yorker; his books include Paris to the Moon and, most recently, Angels and Ages.
This event is co-sponsored by the Maison Francaise of Columbia University, the French-American Foundation, and the Proust Society of America, a program of the Center for Fiction.

Do want to read Marcel Proust so much, but will have to read it in English rather then in French, because would like to read the novel fast, and in French am not rapid.

To point out the dubious effect of the internet age on the reading of long novels etc.--the one Comment and the one reply...the illiterate future throws me into a quandary...

Half way into this and they've barely talked about the actual novel. It's a biographical tidbits, literati gossip (publishing and canonization history). Blah.

Please don’t post these things unless you have the technology to give us decent sound quality. And if you are introducing the subject please enunciate clearly. I couldn’t hear the names of the speakers. Have no idea who they are. Don’t mumble and swallow your words. Treat your audience with respect.
