I fell in love with the steel guitar in '74 when I met the man who built my steel, and I cut my teeth listening to Lloyd and Pete Drake, and the rest is history. I did meet Lloyd at the steel guitar convention in St. Louis, MO. and let me say, he is one fine gentleman, so nice, easy to speak with, generous with his encouragement for the instrument. To say the least, my life was changed.

Loved, Loved the whole 7 parts. Two of the 'Greats'. Lloyd Green's 'Venus Moon', is the most hauntingly beautiful piece of music I ever heard, especially from 'Mr. Steel'🙏

I was also lucky to spend a few minutes with Lloyd at dinner in Dallas and he shared with me how the session work was his heart. He and Paul are so awesome and so nice to share some of this knowledge of the steel. Lloyd and Paul are such gentlemen and where and always will be my favorite players and I could only dream of playing like them. I have a Lloyd Green guitar and I feel his presence every time I set down at it. I would love to have a Franklin Steel but that will be another year.........Thanks Zac for doing these shows...........

Two pedal steel legends. These guys have played on so many great records and tunes. You could probably add the late Buddy Emmons, John Hughey, Tom Brumley and you'd have a ring of honor.

Many years ago I met him briefly. Watch 9:26 Lloyd came up to me, I'd never met him, I didn't know who he was. I was a young steel player. He stopped by me, gave me some good advise and left. I found out later who I had just talked to! Great guy.

I first got to know the name Lloyd Green back in the '60s when I bought "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo" by the Byrds. HIs wonderful playing immediately caught my ear and I have been a lifelong fan ever since. I love his work on "Charlie Pride Live At Panther Hall" which I think is one of the greatest live albums of all time, in any genre. I also love his early work with Johnny Paycheck. There's so much more. Lloyd Green isn't just one of the greatest steel guitarists of all time, he's also one of the greatest musicians of all time.

This is immensely interesting, love the history and how Lloyd thought about "playing". You learn a bit of theory, then the instrument, then you put that to the back of your memory and just feel it all. I remember buying Lloyd and Pauls tuition cassettes when I first started learning.

Lloyd played on many records but my favorite is the legendary Sweetheart of the Rodeo with The Byrds. His playing was nothing short of spectacular on that record. A true master of that amazing instrument the pedal steel guitar.

To me the pedal steel is SO versatile... why aren't we hearing it more in every genre of music. Yes, even hip-hop! It's so emotional and beautiful. It surprises me that it hasn't been adapted more into pop music.

Could watch this all day long! Quite funny: Lloyd Green modestly explains he doesn't feel the need for the Franklin pedal at 48:20. 🤠 There's probably only one steeler in the world that dares saying so AND finds a proper work around.
