I have learned so much from you Bob Redford..tonight...not to argue with people who just don't get it..a great lesson, why waste our time...can't see what I'm typing, but I have so much respect and admiration for you and all the work you have done for your country, your passion as an artist...Wish I could see your paintings...Luv from Denmark
I find Robert Redford to be a fascinating man and a compelling interview. He is thoughtful, as well as insightful and maintains a tremendous grasp on a variety of subjects!

I've met him in person and his stunt double both would throw a football to each other it was funny but he has true intentions and even when no one is looking well at least he didn't know who I was but I knew him
Redford: He is an invaluable asset to the country and deserves the fullest of honors for always searching for the truth. All Is Lost was such an underestimated and overshadowed film. Looking for good acting does not need to only take words. Sometimes it's the captivating action that tells of courage and resolution through toil and sweat.
agreed, and her high strung voice makes her biting sarcasm even more absurd...she was so lost in her notes she never really connected with him even with the eyes...NY times rarely gives any film great reviews and have particularly panned reford as an actor...
RR is a rather fearless person who speaks out his mind openly BUT with a great care of siensitivity for others. All this blabla about technicalities, how to explain this with the utmost possible amount of foreign or technical expressions. RR is the perfect example how to change the world for the better starting in your own small environment.
This lady was not at her personal best in this particular interview, but Redford still shines throughout in every way as Redford does. I enjoyed hearing him discuss and share his views on a variety of interesting subjects. And I am very glad to have thoroughly enjoyed his films over the past 50+ years. I also appreciate his efforts in bringing attention to climate change, other environmental issues, and sharing his views on many other current events and topics that affect all of us. To me, overall, good interview and an interesting and enjoyable chat with the man as well as the actor, Robert Redford.
So called Redford is the lady+never ever mentions portraying the fake role of the so called JFK+CARTER fake presidential puppet char-actors! Never not once! That makes her a vile wicked liar+deceiver exactly like the rest of them!
Poor interviewer...great interviewed ....so much more could be revealed from this unique and talented artist...from a painter to another painter :you made Sundance Mountains your religion , I ,ve found mine above the Mantiqueira in Brazil....all my love goes to you, keep being what you are, that's all...
I appreciate what he says about the trying. The fun is in the trying, the building, the risk-taking... I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to build several businesses over my life; the fun part was the start and the growing. Once established, it becomes monotonous and boring.
He is so gracious and Mo Dowd is almost intentionally intimidating. She may be a feminist but he's the humanist. He charms with his substantive body of work to back him up. She hopefully learned from a master. Love how American he is...maybe the last of his kind. Last of a post-WWII generation that caught us in transition...on film...in novels...in music. Thank God they carried the torch. Hope next generation knows what to do with it.
Redford is having a real conversation but the interviewer barely makes eye contact as she's reading off those sheets. It gives a cold vibe. Redford is a real gent though as always
Interviewer, receiving Notes (on camera, person, walking in front of Mr. Redford) , and looking at her watch during the interview, seemed disrespectful. Mr. Redford was So genuine and patient, (despite some of the 'questionable' questions); he responded with humor and complete Grace.
This was from 2014 and the always articulate Redford mentions how Nixon was known to be vindictive, what was to come a few years later was the epitome of vindictiveness.
I'd be interested in a 2023 interview with Redford - given the horrors that Don the Con has wreaked on the country for seven years. Hope to see one soon.
Culture can affect us. I was a high school student body president who had wanted to be Governor of my state since childhood (call me crazy). I was 18 when "The Candidate" came out, I saw it, and I decided that I didn't want to be a politician. Just a good citizen.
At 52:06, Redford looks Pissed, you don't have an assistant walk right into an interview thats being filmed. This interviewer ( Maureen) isn't engaged in the interview. During the interview Redford leans in when talking, the woman sits as if shes leaning away from Redford.
He’s so consistent and substantial compared to the low achievers who interview him. She’s like a senile Mary Steenburgen. Why would you need notes in huge font in front of you to interview Robert Redford unless you’ve got serious memory issues?
I would love to see Ben Shapiro and Redford have a conversation. I think they could one of the few actual productive conversations between left and right.
Has the interviewer even heard of him before? Even someone unversed in interviewing techniques could have been more in sympathy with the subject. Even her voice begins to grate.
70 minutes and not one view on JFK (except the quick reminder about Clinton as a boyscout shooking his hand)... Not even that eternal question for any contemporary.
JFK continued the legacy of F.D.R. and took it to a higher platform: the Apollo Space Mission. Today, Lyn and Helga LaRouche's Schiller Institute continue JFK's legacy in promoting the next big step for humanity: The World Landbridge, China's Belt and Road Initiative means a new era beyond The New Frontier. It is called "THE COMMON AIMS OF MANKIND".
It's a shame that she conducted this interview with a stack of research notes in her lap, robotically leafing each page to the table after reading from it. I think a prepared interviewer, one with the ability to converse with Redford out of their head, and heart, rather than from notes, would have made this interview so much more compelling...
@Tim Tonner: I fully agree! I’m shocked … I’ve never seen an interviewer with large sheets of notes like she has … then reads from them and lastly, flips them over on the table. It looks so tacky. I thought she would have discreet cards from which she could refer.
I didn't think the interview went badly, though I disliked Maureen Dowd's remark about Obama being in over his head, which is nonsense. Trump however is in over his head to a ludicrous degree, but he wasn't President in 2014.
America is always against stagnation, rigidity, and backwardness. We do not believe in class structure but we respect and value novelty and nobility in idea and behavior no matter where it come from. We build prince out of slaves not slaves out of princes
Poor Mo Dowd...not too appreciated. Too laid back and almost coy. Frustrating for viewer but Redford saved her. He can turn a subject over and over so that it becomes multi dimensional. The life he s led is so great compared to how it could have turned out. A rebel who admittedly courted some juvenile delinquency...minor...took control cause he knew a better world was out there. Colorado then Paris the Hollywood then Utah. He's a great interview regardless of Dowd. She s a great columnist.
Too bad they didn't pair Redford with a real journalist, or a thinker e.g. Steinem, his comment about Obama needed push back. Even his character in The Candidate named race as an issue. Dowd is not up to par, including her gaff about 'Indian'-inexcusable.
37:00 lol suddenly the talk shifts to his hair, you can kinda see in his face expressions that it's just a wig, what is there to say other than deflect
