Every time Henson is starting a horse, no fuss, no drama, just solid workmanship to produce a good horse. So many 'horse trainers' could learn from him how to do it right.
I agree, I've learned so much just watching, that I'd wished I'd known when I did have an old horse. but can't ride anymore, so enjoy watching those that can and know what they are doing, Thanks to PDR for the videos.
…and he doesn’t train them to lower their heads until their noses almost drag the dirt! I don’t understand why these western pleasure horses are trained to lower their head so far… so unnatural. If someone can educate me about this please do.
@@rebeccadees2300 You called it correctly...it's unnatural. Real working horses can't work in that position, so Henson would never teach that. It's another artificial torture some inflict on otherwise beautiful animals.
@@carolyn1696 I’ve never had a good explanation as to why these professionals do this and the owners participate in this when competing in western pleasure competitions.
I think Seven and Czar would make some beautiful babies together. She is so beautiful and Czar is such a handsome stud.. Maybe something to consider down the road with Seven's owner.
Slick By Design seems to give them a little height. Fallon Taylor's Barrel Horse Hush Money is sired by Slick By Design and she stands around 16 hands or so and kind of slick looking than the normal stocky looking Quarter Horses. Hush Money is always twitching her ears so she doesn't miss anything. Hope this one acts good too.
I am almost thinking that Seven was worked on prior to coming to Henson to train, just some ground rules, like the saddle blanket, the rope, even the putting the saddle on, she appears to be cool as a cucumber....as always love the videos!!!
For the first saddling that's amazing. Good looking filly. The fact that she's been handled since birth makes a big difference but the man on her back will guide her to what and where to be.
Little Colorado Meats, I was just there last week for a week. Learning about the meat processing from start to finish. Such a good opportunity to experience.
Seven moves like a Walking horse. I almost don't trust a horse that doesn't recognize when it is doing something new. It took Seven a few minutes to realize he was carrying a saddle. Seems to figure things out quickly after that though. Someone had done some ground work with that horse. It had no problems being handled. Good job! Going to be a nice ride.
Yup, time to turn that steer into food, from a family of 12 we processed four steers a year, 12 sheep and countless chickens, turkeys and shot hundreds if wild ducks, rabbits and pigeons. Helped that two brothers were slaughter men at the local slaughterhouse. Used to set up a production line for chicken and it was my job to singe the hair off em once plucked. Never processed a lot of hogs but when we did I always remember how much work they were but sure did like those pork chops and bacon. Slick by Design, with a 3K service fee I'd be expecting some good Barrel Racing times from that filly. I'm with Brooks, beef Jerky was alway my favorite when younger and always carried a stick or two in my pocket when out on the farm, it was how I bribed my bigger brothers to do the heavy lifting for me, ha ha.
Hello there PDR what is the kind of material you guys like for a lead rope, also the ideal length for a lead rope? Henson I think its time for a new tarp for the round pen. How long do the Studs stay out with the Mares? Good looking young horse there to get started. Henson why did you change halters on the young black horse Seven?
Didn’t you buy a halter from us? That is exactly what we prefer… length and everything. Studs stay with mares until about Sept. Henson changed halters because that halter had a REALLY LONG lead and he doesn’t like to ride with all that excess- just gets in the way
Danny, We city folks have no idea how to steer a horse. What are reins for? .....to hold on to the horse. Do horses just like to chase cows? What is a cutting horse?
Steering basically- although that is done with the feet as well. Some horses love chasing cows… while some do not like cows at all! Cutting is a people/horse sport that involves cows 😁
Seven is a nice filly should have some speed to her to run down the fastest cow's on the ranch or win a cow pony race in future here great Grandpa Mito Wise Dancer won over 300,000 on the track .
