nice to see tourists respecting the animals and the other guests in the park. Thank you for being so conscious on how to behave at sightings.

Thank you sharing the beautiful Kruger. We live in Johannesburg and are lucky enough to visit a couple of times a year. Every trip is always so varied and we have never been disappointed. After a while you get to read the bush and know what to look for. We tend to stay for at least a week at a time. If you have the time a 2 week trip from the south all the way up north is unforgettable.

Wow you’re very lucky to be able to go so often! It was such a bucket list experience for me (Jacqui). North to South would be incredible!

Thank you for sharing. I am South African and have visited the park numerous times but I love watching these videos to experience the park through the eyes of first time visitors (especially self-drives). The reaction you had to the herd of giraffes was just wonderful!!

I enjoyed watching your video seeing newbies coming to our beautiful parks The big monkeys that you saw are baboons. They can grow huge and are crazy strong with massive teeth . We also have the smaller vervet monkeys Self drive is the most rewarding experience and you stop when you want go where you want. Sleeping inside the park instead of outside brings a whole different ball game. You walk the fence at night seeing hyena and hearing lions while making a fire bbq/braai the feeling is surreal The best time to see animals are from sunrise till about 3 hours after and 2 hours before sunset onwards The elephants are crazy strong and aggressive and many people have been attacked and killed. Good advice if they that close reverse and get out of the way. Hope this add some info

Definitely put this on my bucket list, never been to Africa and we will love to self-drive. Can you recommend nice places to stay near the park for a few days?

So glad we inspired you! This is still one of our highlights in South Africa and we did about 10 different safari game drives 😆

Sorry for late reply, but as a South African I reccomend you stay in the park itself, there are some beautiful rest camps. Plus being in the park at night is incredible.

So glad you enjoyed Kruger. You are very lucky to have seen wild dogs, very rare to see them. Recommended documentary to watch (and hopefully an animation movie in future - someone phone Pixar!): A Wild Dog's Tale (2013), a single painted dog (named Solo by researchers) befriends hyenas and jackals in Okavango, hunting together. Solo feeds and cares for jackal pups.

I'm from African soil and on African soil, but I will never ever undertake a self drive in a National park😮too many dangers and unpredictable wild animals..remember you are in their terroritry..

When Max told me you could do this I didn’t believe him, I thought surely you would need a trained ranger a huge vehicle and some kind of protection just in case! We definitely had a scare with that elephant but this experience was actually worth the risk, it was so magical and I’m so glad we did it 😍

Our pleasure Andrew 🧡 we hired a car in Joburg airport and drove to Muweti Lodge which was a 5-6 hour drive on good roads, until you enter the park then it’s not sealed. After that we actually drove about 7-8 hours to Kruger Gate, which is the main gate entry for the park where you are allowed to do the self drive. But we did stop off at Blyde River Canyon on the way which would have added to the length of that drive. The road from Muweti to Blyde River Canyon had a long stretch on very potholed road, which was stressful but once you’re through that (maybe an hour) We stayed overnight in a hotel near the gate so we could go early the next day. Then the next day we drove through the park to the crocodile bridge gate, it took the whole day I think we spent 6 -7 hours driving, but it was amazing! Then we stayed overnight in Koomatipoort which is a small town near that gate.
