All the season deer started out as one deer and they just decided over time to make a regular deer their companion v.v Summer deer just found their companion and is starting the ✨shift✨
Are we sure it's not a different regular deer with sunglasses every summer since it's kind of implied that the crow explaining the magical deer and a few of his buddies are behind said deer having sunglasses?

I think if the deers with bones, seeming to represent “death”, were actually living deers like Joe and once they died, and they morphed into their current appearance, it would make sense that Joe is a normal deer rn and once he “dies” he would have the magical appearance the other deers have. This is rly cool
I was thinking it was more like one was the beginning of-say winter-and the other was the end. OR the spirit one was the representation of the season, the other was the death of things from the previous, like the flowers dying in certain seasons.
I like that each of the pairs seem to be the life & death that comes with each season. Especially the detail of the autumn death having arrows sticking into them.
Yes, I love the duality of the seasons, in spring get green trees and colorful flowers but that also includes moss and fungi sprouting from the frequent rain and shade
Right? I also like the idea that a bemused Summer was just like "So... you gave me a pet/entourage in the form of this deer with impractical eyewear on, 24/7?" and slowly came to appreciate what joe brought to the table.
The Summer deer probably had a tiny convo with Joe the first year like "Hey man, I really appreciate the effort. Every other season has a pair and I've always been insecure about that so thanks for the company."
XD how much you wanna bet the magical deer just change their forms each season xD that would be a twist and they be meeting the same pair of deer just different looking? XD
But then how would that explain joe? Did the other magical deer just forget to change and the crows put sunglasses on him without knowing they were a magical deer? And so they just rolled with the look afterwards and never changed? But then whats with the seven year timespan? They also say "we" and the other crow wasnt there. Does that mean some other fella did it? What if that other person wasnt a crow? Yeah idk 😭
I imagine the summer sunglass deer is how the first three started out. But over the centuries, the season spirit prolonging their life has wound up with them being skeletal, magical versions of themselves.

Considering Joe would be a very old normal deer, and crows can hold a grudge for 7 years, Joe could have been around much longer and the crow doesn't remember
i imagine all the skull deer were at one point normal deer that just died under the supervision of their seasonal god friend and then were brought back to help them

Ngl I'd befriend Joe, he seems like a nice guy! Also this whole thing feels like a good idea for some kinda lofi cosy mythological creature series. Also I love the SpongeBob and Patrick voices on the crows!
Alright so when I first saw this comic I always "heard" the Death Deer having Brom Stocker's Dracula's voice over.... Surfer dude 🤣🤣🤣 strangely it works though!!!
