I’m going on my first cruise in March, and I’m so excited! I’ve always been nervous because big bodies of water kinda freaks me out, but I’m all about conquering “fears” but the more I plan, the more excited I get! I’m going with my boyfriend and his immediate family. His parents are experienced cruisers, so that does make it smoother for me 😁 leaving from Galveston to the Western Caribbean. So stoked!
We're going on our 1st cruise in 13 days- 5 day to Bermuda on NCL for our anniversary. We splurged on their Haven Suites. We figured if we hate it, it's not too long. If we love it, we'll plan another one next year. I'm very much looking fwd to the adventure.
Generally you will have a better experience if you are on a budget go for a smaller ship and if you can afford the high end suites go for a bigger ship. I usually go for newer ships. You get what you are prepared to pay for. Watch where you are sailing to. Some destinations will give you a better experience and look at the clientele the cruise is targeting.
Caribbean cruising has become boring with too many private islands and fake cruise line owned captive port visits. Cruisers long for the cultural and discovery opportunities of visiting authentic ports in the Caribbean.
I totally agree with you. If I want a theme park, I’ll go to a theme park. For me, travel is about genuine experiences - actual places and people and their history.
Closed loop no-passport travel is just dandy until you get sick or miss your ship and find yourself trying to get back into your own country with no passport. Major issue.. you are stuck where you are at your own expense until you can get emergency documentation from your nearest embassy.
@lap8329 - so if you get sick and you are in a different country the ship won't let you back on? I don't know if a ship has a emergency room on it. I don't have a passport.
