I started laughing obnoxiously loud when the puppet song started playing. I love picture discs. My band (Old Blood) actually sells our own. A lot of bands put out different color versions for the same album, like we do. It's a great collecting community.

As soon as you mentioned you got a song into that vinyl with the Pedant on the disc, I thought "it is Cuba-Baion! It has to be Cuba-Baion!" and you did not disappoint!

You should check out 345rpm.com - short run lathe cut records, you can get a plain 7" for £15, double sided LP picture disk for £45. I've been getting 5" records made by him for over a year, great stuff.

I have recorded loads of nice little 1:30 minute original tracks, this is a great way for people like me that didn't make it on Top Of The Pops and to actually have a nice little 7" 4 track E.P picture disk of my own original music. Thanks again man for highlighting a great service!

I stumbled across something interesting a few weeks ago. Up in the top floor of a barn I own I found two Voice-O-Graph records. A quick turn of Google and I learned they were from coin operated recording booths that used to be at amusement parks or boardwalks back as far as the 1940's. Unfortunately, the two records I found are covered in cracks due to being around 70 years old and never stored properly, so I cant play them. Coincidentally enough, a little while after I found them I was watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood on Twitch and there was good ol' Fred Rogers, demonstrating a tabletop unit that cut a record into a blank as you spoke or sang into a mic. It would make a huge pile of cut material that was just one extremely long, thin strand of vinyl. It was fascinating as I never knew any of these things existed. And they still make units like the one demonstrated on Mr. Rogers for DJ's to cut custom vinyl but they'll set you back $10,000. So I was wondering if maybe there are old units and blank media out there from decades ago you could get your hands on. Would make a great episode I think. Anyway, keep up the great work.

The title reminded me of a movie I saw as a kid in the 80s. It was maybe made in the 70s but what i remember is, a guy goes into a phone booth looking thing and talks into a mic and it made him a record. kinda hazy but he either killed some one or left someone and left the record playing over and over for who ever to find it in this house. Anybody remember seeing a booth like that?

1:10 I knew before you opened this thing what was going to be on it and I'm pretty new here so I was quite proud of myself.

Mat uses the same cartridge and needle I use on my turntable. I was starting to feel like my setup was a tad bit lackluster, but seeing that Ortofon cartridge made me quite a bit happier with what I've got.

The moment I saw the picture on the record, I already had an idea what track it would be. I also realy like what you did there with the Worldeye Projector. It's a nice idea.

The image you used suggests that it could be a great merchandising opportunity. Strong image, bright colours and would look great on a mug or a t-shirt. To sell or to give away to your Patreon sponsors. Cheers!

Absolutely love it, and it's a great idea too, I have a few custom music tracks I've made on Magix Music Maker (therefore are Copyright: Me!) and have thought they'd do nicely on a bit of vinyl... :)

I somewhat expected the music to be the Tefifon track. But how many here were just as interested in the sphere projector in the background displaying the Techmoan logo? :-)

When I used to buy picture discs, they never sounded as good as normal black vinyl. I reckon you know that as well. Picture discs sounded flatter and splattery treble.

I'll wait a few month until an LP with "The Best of Techmoan" hits the stores :-) P.S. Surprised there was no envy among the Muppets as to which one got chosen for the first record!

As someone who has cut dubplates for years the legality of cutting copyrighted music is fine, it's legal to make a backup on any format of music you have purchased

paint job on the frame looks really good, i was sure it was aluminum.

They have a licensing deal with MCPS now so you can name a copyright track and they'll put it on.

I like the new outro! Brings up the most exiting episodes :) Though i ever wondered about and never discovered the episode where something got smashed by a sledgehammer.

I'm more interested in that frame. I bought a Bowie record in a frame from our David Bowie is... exhibition, and they'd glued the record to the backing, argh!

What is the audio quality like on the vinyl? Do they seem to using a decent press? I realize the audio quality is already going to be party limited by having to upload a digital file to be cut into the vinyl too so I am curious to know what file types and bit rates they accept. It's too bad you can't upload copyrighted music. I can see there being quite a market for that... it would be like making a mix tape only on vinyl, at least assuming they offer 12-inch records too. Do they?

Hey Techmoan, I saw your video on the DBX disc and the DBX noise reduction system and the video on cassettes and the different types of Dolby noise reduction. I was wondering if you could do a video comparing the DBX noise ruduction and the Dolby noise reduction and seeing which one is better. I have been thinking of getting a DBX box for my hifi and I recently picked up a Sony tape deck with Dolby S (which needs some repair) and I would love to hear the difference in sound quality.Thanks. P.S. Love the retro hifi videos and hope to see some more in the future.

The magnetic frame is brilliant. The picture print is pretty detailed and modern looking. But why is there a limit on the size? Or can you get a full size record? And only one side pressing? I guess these things are made to be decorative pieces more than to be true one off viniyls.
