Initially, I felt that the Tascam sounded more solid especially on the piano sample, it really captures transients and nuance so very good. The MH has a wider soundstage to my ears, and does an excellent job with sound reproduction. It sounds closer to the source (judging from what I heard recorded through an RME Babyface pro). The headphone amp on the Tascam is a beast full of mojo, and I thought the Tascam was going to blow the MH away, but the headphone amp is just that good. The AD is more transparent on the MH imo. And to answer your question, I do not have the Jensen transformer.
I agree with that statement. After listening several dozen times, there are phrases where I prefer the Tascam to the MH. On Piano, the Tascam really shines to me, the MH seems a bit to wide and never seems to have a strong Center focus. I'll be recording Grand Piano this week with nothing more than the UH-7000 going into a DA-3000, fed by a pair of WA-47 fet jr's.
@@LibraryAudiophile can you share your findings from the piano recording? Also use Uln 8... sounds very clear and dry but less lively... Tascam sounds warmer and softer in comparison but not as clear as Uln 8, more vintage... but I like it... especially with the piano and bells audible... Greeting
@@LibraryAudiophile but would say: the sound can be shaped afterwards... but you should first have a clear, clean signal... that's why I prefer the clarity and honesty of the Uln 8
@@magugordonyukawaka2915 Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by "findings". This video is a comparison of The Preamps/AD conversion on the Tascam vs the preamps/AD conversion on the MH ULN8. I prefer the sound of the Tascam on some phrases, and the MH on others.
@@lamarlaforce3508 I hear it that way too... the question is whether it's always appropriate to sound so precise and dry... the piano and bells lack some liveliness... tascam uh 7000 has a warmer vintage sound... but lacks certain presence when you want that... I think it depends on the goal which sound you want for which song... not every instrument has to sound clear and smooth... but on the other hand it shouldn't sound too muddy... either probably a matter of taste for the artist 🙂
