Well said August Well said! Reg is in a class that most great tree men can’t hold a rope for. It takes great mental fortitude and physical endurance to persevere through jobs like that.
Couldn’t agree more. Reg is the Ace Ventura in the tree world. Including dry british humor 😂 And a nice pile of the most expensive firewood in the world, well done!
I love watching your videos August they are insightful and contain quality tree work, but man when Reg releases a video you know it’s a job that makes you think. You are both a blessing to the tree community stay safe man.
Heck ya couldn’t agree more August has amazing editing skills and tree skills. That being said I see a Reg video come across my feed it’s like Christmas.
The decision of walking under the madrone or walking around was crazy timing and a testament to how you’ve survived decades of hazard tree work. Awesome video
Brilliant job Reg , proper professional work,I think it's important to mention how much patience you have as a lot of people wouldn't want to be in the harness and spikes for that long, and would have taken more risks and done bigger pieces to go quicker.older heads are smarter heads, fair play buddy 👌👍
Hey Reg, I’ve been following your work and career since I started tree work. I’m originally from Bristol UK. I’m now living in Australia, and have been here for over 7 years. I’ve been running my own show here for 2 years now, supporting my young family. Things can be tough sometimes, the stresses of staff and looking after everyone. But I find real solace and inspiration in your videos, they always level me back out and make me proud of the hard work and passion I’ve put into what I do over all these years. Just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for the industry and for other climbers like me in similar situation. You’re a constant inspiration to keep going and being the best you can be. Hope everything is going well for you and your family out there. Thanks once again mate. J
@joedunwell7612 Thanks Joe. Good luck with your business. Just remember that if you are not seeing a decent profit and savings by now, then something is wrong and needs to be changed.
Id been thinking randomly past couple of weeks, where's Reg, and boom, he's there. I saw the video length, read the intro spec, and thought this is going to be tasty. Went for my popcorn, none there so I settled for oxygen, and a bowl of feck all, like a real man 🤛
Some of Reg's vids have me nervous as hell. I'm sure I'm more worried watching than Reg is working. and a good look at the prussic in action. In fact this vid had everything you want in a tree vid. top marks from me.
It's curious because I have the opposite sensations. I have the feeling, while watching this videos, that things are under control, calculated, pre-decided as much as they can be... which is, obviously, never 100%
@@deselby6669 lol my friends accasionally ask me to start a utube channel, they say it'd be like watching Fred Dibnah. I can't for the life of me see how a seasonal grass cutter and occasional tree chopper stacks up to watching Fred mind. well being opinionated might come close I suppose and living a mile down stream of him as well maybe?. watching fred scaffold a chimney has the same effect as watching Reg chop a dodgy tree mind. terrifying and compulsive vieiwing.
@@vespasian266 Reg at over 200ft and Fred laddering a chimney ...its the nonchalance..mug of tea and a kit kat up top....like the handle ,the last of the 4 emperors.and first of them Flavians...AD 69..a busy year..
I sometimes have in mind, while working, a phrase you once said in a video: "I'm not a chancer". The balance between time and risk. It's such a pleasure and a relief to see you working, to study the decisions you guys made, to wonder about other possible solutions (I always try to do that, just to jog my mind). Thanks for not making thrillers out of arboriculture videos and, if you feel like it, keep filming from time to time. Cheers!
I sure wish videos like this would've existed when I started climbing 30 years ago, it would have been a lot easier to learn rigging and dismantling skills. We had so much pressure on us to make an hourly rate, and it's really important to see a seasoned pro do things in a measured and careful manner for the new guys, it really must be helpful to see that patience is the key to getting difficult stuff on the ground safely. Some of the absolute cowboy stuff I did in my younger days trying to make an hourly rate, this would have been so helpful to see, to force me to slow down and really think every cut through. You're doing important work, and I don't doubt for a second at least a few lives will be saved by observing your measured and patient methods. It's a delight to watch. Stay safe up there
Une situation bien difficile, très technique, c'est la première fois que je ressens de la tention chez notre grand référent! C'est parfait, comme toujours, même si une phase, le choix du placement m'a fait vraiment peur!! Merci Reg, chapeau✌️
Reg, you are one of the most outstanding climbers, we the tree people have ever seen. There is know one above you. Take care , I know you read trees will , but I still do not need to see you hurt. take care mate. Clarkie
Well Reg, you do find some knotty problems to think through. And then make the solution seem an obvious one when it isn't at all. A very satisfying watch - thank you.
Reg, That… was Some job! A bit scary from here in some spots! The only thing I might have added was another 3000 winch to attach to that big tree in the back to tie on towards the front off the tree when you were bringing in down to the ground to pull it away from the shed. But as it turned out just barely touched the roof. Great JOB! I’m finally going to hang up my spurs at the age of 70 and a half😂. Now I just have to sell all this gear. The wife says that until I do I’ll keep doing it!😂….true story…..take care
What more to say? That job seemed to have everything. A time to bring every piece of equipment on the truck! Best of all: the understatement, the patience, the attention to detail. A masterclass!!
The level of skill, precision, and decision making in this video us astounding. You truly are part of a dying breed brother. There's not many men who would attempt to tackle a job like this with only two people and minimal equipment. You're an iron man and an inspiration to myself Reg. Keep yourself safe and keep up the great work!
Hi Reg, Hi Elliott.. absoloute master class chaps, 5*. Bloody amazing & the rigging blew me away. A couple o' pints of Theakstones after that job lads😉.Thank you both chaps👍, stay safe & loved.
Awesome job, Control, precision, Reg your on another level, I know folk in blighty that would have left that site looking like the aftermath of an earthquake, but ultimately would have given the job a hard pass.
Fantastic 👏👏👏. Solid professional work brother and your crew deserves every bit of my respect as well. I’m on the tail end of my climbing career (38yrs) so I truly enjoy seeing the work carried on so well in this amazing profession. 😅stayed up an hour past my bedtime watching this.
Enjoyed the video. A monster job complicated by wedged in big madrone, steep hill and targets all around real close. A controlled effort to be complimented. Kudos to you, Reg and your partner Elliott.
This reminded me of content he created from along time ago - I believe in Europe…huge Beech trees among homes…fascinating skills. Always so deliberate - precise…
They definitely hired the right man for the job. Well done Reg. This channel should have a million subs. Your average joe dosen't realize the skill and danger that is involved.
Reg you are absolutely amazing at what you do I wish I had your talent I wish I had somebody to teach me that was as good as you and was with me for a few years I would have so much more confidence God bless buddy stay safe
I assume you mean the Cedar, Tom. In this case, if not for the Cedar being there the Arbutus would've fallen all the way and crushed the house, and then someone else would've got the job of cleaning it up. But as it was, the Cedar became part of the puzzle that also had to be carefully removed.
Hey did i see the new mechanical descender/ascender device there? It looked good on this job! Can you tell a little bit more about it now it's in plain view?
@@Recoates Yeah it looked really good there. Very smooth on the descent and passing the rope easily on ascending. Is it also midline attachable and suitable for different rope diameters?
G'day Reg, It appears they're not making it any easier for you but as always you're up to the challenge. PS I watched your latest video and as requested neither liked nor commented, all the best Andrew 👍.
It would have been so expensive to barge a crane over to Saturna. Good for you to find a safe option that didn't break the bank. That's a interesting island, my brother did some logging up the hill a few years ago. They have semi wild goats that roam around the cliffs on the sunny side.
Thanks Dave. I looked into the crane options but ultimately we couldn't get one down the driveway, while the road was both too far up the hill and not wide enough to set the outriggers. We did see the goats. They are quite the herd.
Well done y'all! Those ''swingers'' are the scariest to me; either coming back to knock you out of the tree or worse yet kill or severely injure you! From Sophia, N.C., USA
