That's a real ice-breaker, thanks. I've always wanted to educate myself a little about databases, but the perceived vastness of the topic has always been a deterring factor. And here you've managed to lower the entry point below the scarifying level of the seeming complexity. Thanks again, kudos to you!
Hello and thank you very much for your comment! That's great! I had hoped to distill databases down to something basic, and from what you've said, it sounds like I've done it! Really happy you found the video helpful. Of course, there's a lot more behind this. For example, a database course in uni would have a lot of theory about how best to design the tables for efficient operation. This could be a fairly deep rabbit hole to go into. So while I'm glad I've given you an overview, do know that there is _a lot_ more.
I'm taking an Intro to Database Management this quarter and this video provides a nice foundation for me to go off of in term of basic SQL. This will help me a lot as the class will be using a lot of SQL. Perfect timing! Thank you!
You're welcome! Glad to be of help, and all the best for your class! If it's anything like the intro to databases class that I took, you'll find yourself going into more advanced concepts as well as some theory, so this certainly isn't representative of the entire curriculum. However, this should at least get you acquainted with the basics!
This is a great video, thanks for posting. The version of SQL lite i had was a tad different, it would be good if you added some comments on how to clear screen (i had to hit play button to run my code) I also had to figure out how to clear screen to create my new table
Hello and thank you for your comment! Yeah, the SQLite browser has been updated and now looks a bit different. However, I didn't want to go into the details about the software, since that stuff is not SQL - SQL refers only to the language used, and is supported in many other places like MySQL, Oracle SQL etc. So I wanted to focus on what's important.
This was really nice and explanatory. Now I can atleast admit I know a bit of basics that could help be do some practical on my own and try different commands.
You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =) If you're interested, I have a more advanced SQL video as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QziwC_ltqyA.html
Hello and thank you for your comment! Sorry this reply came in late, but for future reference, SQL pattern matching can help you with that: www.datacamp.com/tutorial/sql-like-pattern-matching-tutorial
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =) If you're looking for something even more advanced to progress to after this, you may be interested in the sequel to this video where we combine tables and use nested SQL queries! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QziwC_ltqyA.html
